lol i'm perusing amazon for useless junk as we speak. they especially have me by the balls since i also have their credit card.

I think it's so awesome that we've (mostly) all updated our statuses to medical student. Who's left? jla and blobby bob?

Maybe I will stay a pre-med forever

I've mostly moved in yay!

I think I had a migraine last night. It hurt so bad I couldn't do anything for like 2 hours. Hopefully that doesn't become an issue.

Today I get to go buy some new clothes and go out to dinner with my family for my birthday, since everbody's too busy on Tuesday. 👍

🙁 Migraines suck. I'm glad you feel better though! I'm kinda lucky I guess because I get what's called "painless migraines." Instead of feeling a headache, my vision gets blurry. It's kinda wacky, but I've had them since high school.

Lazying around today before classes start tomorrow and enjoying having nothing to do... aka Mad Men marathon on my computer.

Stoney, how's anatomy going? dingy tells me his body sucks and he can't see anything.

(That last sentence sounds so ridiculous out of context.)

👍 This and ksmi's online shopping comment makes me wanna purchase some pretty things for myself too... 😏

My birthdays get more uneventful each year. By the time I hit 30, I'm probably going to forget when it even is.

Anatomy's not so bad. I mean, it is ridiculously fast-paced, but it's manageable. As far as seeing things in the body, yeah, it really depends on the body as to what you are able or not able to see. For instance, on our body, we couldn't find any lymph nodes, but whenever I was observing another group's body during a presentation, they were pretty clear.

Yeah, my birthday is the same. I don't think I did anything at all for it this year. Wait, I did go out to dinner with some friends, so I guess that counts! 🙂

Yeah not sure why you did that...

Your username is reminding me that I'm hungry again.

Speaking of pajamas, which I am comfortably still in, last semester it was time to shower in the night and I was looking around my room for them and I was getting really frustrated because I couldn't find them anywhere. Then I realized..I was still wearing them. :lame:

my body is actually the same as stoney's. (just to keep the out of context thing going.)

we thought the body looked good when stoney's group presented, but then we opened the abdominal wall 🙁 it was trouble at the first incision as our scalpel hit a hernia a little below her navel, then it's all downhill from there 😡

I didn't know your group decided to dissect that body too!

So I just took a nap after studying gastrulation/neurulation and woke up to myself mumbling about the notochord. I have a feeling this won't be the last time something like this happens.

our cadaver's muscles, fat, vessels and nerves are all the same color...well EFF was our first sentiment yet we somehow managed to be the only group in our room that managed to find the brachial plexus...skillz-we gotz dem!

Craigslist killer committed suicide in his jail cell today. Gosh that whole situation is so sad and disappointing. How does one's life go from so promising to so disappointing in a matter of months?

My old middle school burned down yesterday due to a lightning strike. So sad.

Yeah, I saw that on my iGoogle news feed...

Wow.

 that's probably gonna happen to all of us

the guy obviously has some mental issues, i wonder if there were always signs, that he was very good at hiding it, or that it worsened very quickly in a short time...

we did, and word of advice, don't go to our group's presentation, you won't learn what you need to 🙁

damn ours too! the fat looked brown, and the greater omentum looked like the liver, like wtf 😡 AND we were the only ones AFAIK to find the accurate line, crediting my careful and persistent dissection of the abs 😎

I would hope he has some major mental problems if he robs 4 women for petty cash when he's already a few hundred grand in debt and ends up killing 1 or 2 of them. I think that's probably why so many people are attracted to the story, was he that good at hiding his true self throughout life or did things just get exponentially worse very quickly once he was under the stress of medical school and being engaged.

I'd like to think it's the latter considering that he was very sloppy and how poor his decision making was (kill someone to steal a few hundred bucks while you're already hundreds of thousands in debt). I think it was out of desperation and reaction rather than any real thinking or planning on his part.

hows it goin everyone?

i'm about to buy a laptop, and trying to decide between a toshiba satellite ultrathin and an asus ultralight . . . does anyone have either of these?

the satellite is cheaper (~$500) but the asus looks cooler and has longer battery life ( its about $700-800)

anyone? i've been searching the forums for laptop specific threads which is how i narrowed it down to toshiba/ asus in the first place 🙂

I just got back from eating steak, lobster, cheese fries, and a baked potato. 😀 It was awesome.

Holy mackerel! That sounds delicious! 🙂 Where do you find all of these foods in one place?!

:hello: No idea on the laptop. I usually just go with Sony.

👍 Sounds like an incredible bday dinner!

It was awesome. Too bad my bday isn't until Tuesday, but at least I get cake that day.

Outback.

On a not-as-cool note, I just realized that I bought womens' scrubs the other day. 😡 😳

Med school is awesome... we're so lucky to be given this opportunity. 👍

Ask me if I still believe this after Anatomy/biochem/histology really get rolling.

well what if you wanted to dress up in women's scrubs, would be a sensitive situation.

its crazy how much prossections are better. the brachial plexus is pretty obvious in all of our bodies, but when you try to look at the subscapulous a. and everything down there in the axilla (underneath all that fascia) the prossections are sooooooooooooooo much more neater than everything else

Yeah I haven't started that yet. 🙂

lifes gonna revolve around med school man, if you have any other interests, i would get on that now

with that said, i only really study like 2 - 4 hours a week right now (i think im supposed to do more, im already behind). i just have to be at all these mandatory things, which take up a lot of time (esp anatomy lab, but if you stay calm and pay attention each time through, you pick up things pretty quickly i think)

btw Abita Top Dog >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

best dark/stouty beer i've had, ever. i like the restoration IPA too. not really impressed by the purple haze thing

the best balance bw performance, price, and battery life as far as pc goes is the asus (uc 30 or something). its a bit worse in most respects(a bit heavier, slower, and slightly less battery life) than the mac pro, but its also 300-400 dollars cheaper.

Restoration is one of my faves. If they have it (which I doubt), you should try Andygator.

They actually opened a vanilla cask-aged Turbodog barrel at one of my favorite bars around here the other day.

man, we dont have prosections, so its really difficult. we have to learn from bodies dissected by ourselves, and id say probably most of us are terrible dissecters. add to the fact that many bodies really sucks, it makes us waste a lot of time going from body to body trying to identify stuff
