it's comments like that that make me think that intense dude on the Penn State thread is onto something when he says Blue and Elijah are the same person

I'll happily move to Cali if USC lets me in!
haha:laugh:. Maybe we are:scared::scared::scared::scared:. Long lost brother😕.

Anyways im off...i have to go swim in what is basically a swamp for my lab......sounds fun yah?-_-...

haha if it was an east coast lab, I'd say watch out for gators. do they have gators out west?

i only have 4 secondaries so far. slow coming. or maybe it's just my small number of schools. still thinking of adding a few more (michigan, indiana?)

michigan seems to be super selective...give it a shot if you wish

well, i'm doing md/phd, so really everything is super-selective. just feeling the need to throw my name into a few more hats, so to speak.

ahh in that case its an excellent school you should throw your name into that hat

oh goodness, i didn't realize you were 99! we should all be treating you as our elder (especially baby ksmi ((i kid, i kid..)) )!!

haha yea, goes with the saying "you are never too old for medical school".

hey😡! People always hate on cali then they get here, and fall in love. I know blue will agree cali is the best period! 😛

haha, i was kidding. i have loved cali when i've spent time there. well, not socal (you are NEVER going to convince me that it's a good place to live) but i looooooove norcal. berkeley, SF... crunchy hippies make me happy.

i have received 11 and submitted 7. i'm still waiting on two things: the last 7 secondaries, and my motivation to do the 4 i'm sitting on right now 🙂

👍

Rec'd 10, completed 7, dragging my feet on UChicago, Duke, and Gtown. Still waiting on 15 🙄.

Balancing my bank accts just now to make sure I could afford the MUSC app fee, and I realized I've spent ~650 on secondary application fees already 😱😱. I feel broke. Hopefully I'll strike it big in Vegas when I go on vacay w/ the college roommates in 2 weeks

not that there's any good time in life to be doing this (IMO), but just as you need money for med school apps = TERRIBLE time to be gambling 😛

Well, no new ones today for me. That's probably a good thing.
Guess who gets to see Harry Potter early? 😀 (but not before the people in London, they saw it last week)

What the hell? That's hella not true.

haha! im actually from upstate NY but this summer im working at dartmouth in hanover, NH. the bear looked like a teenager...kinda on the smaller size. bears are actually rather cute in person, even the big ones. you just dont wanna get them mad!

where are you from?

chicago. but i recently took a road trip up to that area (ny/vt/ma) and we were gonna camp too until someone told me there were bears. screw that.

also i never realized how huge NY state is until I drove through it (for HOURS.) no wonder there are so many schools there/so many of you are from there! i always mentally categorized states in the northeast as being small. not all of them i guess!

it hella is. have you ever BEEN to the berkeley famers market??? that is a glorious experience. if you're me, anyway.

ha. so do you make fun of NYC too? because that DEFINITELY trumps all. 😛

I'm here at Berkeley right now. I've been to farmers market. I hate it.

no gators i think in the west? The place we do the lab at just has a bunch of nasty insects and ponds full of decomposing plants, and duck poop...cant wait to get in........-_-. I thought the lab was at 9am so i woke up early, and i find its not till 1230 :scared:.

I thought that would wake you up! i'm glad you're not teen..

As I take a nap, about 5 minutes after that post. Oops

Well, no new ones today for me. That's probably a good thing.

Sooooooo jealous.

So it's a pond and not a swamp at all. Stop trying to pretend CA is cool like LA. 😛

gotta throw my 2 cents:

NYC = best place to visit
anywhere on cali coastline and up to ~20 miles inland = best place to live. absolutely no questions asked, it just is.

they need to build about 10 more med schools in cali.

haha the whole trip was a bday present from my folks--mom cashed in some frequent fliers to get me out there and Dad gave me $200 in spending money. Hotel has been paid for since March b/c we got this $30/night/person deal and I've been avoiding happy hour to save up some extra funds.

Definitely not touching the med school cash on this trip 🙂. Last time I went to Foxwoods (university-sponsored trip during senior week), I ended the night up $100. That's a secondary fee right there!

I imagine they're both good places to visit (I've never been to Cali). I can't really see myself living in either seeing as the cost of living in both places is just silly.

👍 I've been to both and they're ok. I'm not like a huge city fan and not really touristy either, so NYC wasn't as good. But they're both nice places

well if you want to get technical is a freshwater surface water depression marsh😉. Not a pond! Either way i dont want to get in! 🙁. And comparing LA to CA is a joke!!! who wants to live in the south during the summer where its ****ty weather all day! 😛

Oh and your rabid enthusisam for HP made me finally start reading the 1st book lol. Hope youre happy 🙁

Here's to the land where maidens are fair,
Where friends are true and cold hearts rare,
The near land, the dear land, whatever fate,
The blest land, the best land, the Old North State! 😍😍

Or, perhaps more well known:

This one's for North Carolina! C'mon and raise up
Take your shirt off, twist it 'round yo head
Spin it like a helicopter
North Carolina! C'mon and raise up
This one's for you, uh-huh, this one's for who?
Us, us, us; yes sir!

true. but you pay for the weather and the cali state of mind...which are both priceless in my opinion. to each his own (but cali is the best).

Ha. I don't feel like paying for weather.

well i like doing outdoorsy things, so nice weather is good. think of it as an investment into your sanity (im pretty sure there is some sort of crappy weather disorder syndrome...something 70 degree, sunny, gentle summer breeze cali people don't have to worry about!)

ok, im done raving.

i knew you'd say that. clearly your palate is not refined enough to appreciate some beautiful kohlrabi or kale. or berries. god i love farmers markets. 😛

i'd reverse those. i love to visit cali. and i love living in NYC. quite honestly, i can't imagine being anywhere where i'd have to own a car. too much fossil fuel 😉

I have quite a few friends in NYC and I often mock their beloved city.

as well you should. hell, i mock NYC and i love it here. it's a pretty ridiculous place.

if you're only doing touristy things in NYC, you're doing it very, very, very wrong. :uhno:

oh look, it's my high horse!

I don't think there's an area of my state that has decent public transportation. Ann Arbor is a pretty good walking city, aside from that you need a car for everywhere.
