Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Any of you play Warcraft 3 at all? I used to play Dota alllll the time in high school... 👍

I used to when it first came out. Played it for like 1 year, and then went back to SC. The whole heroes concept ruined it, IMO.

I started playing RTS games with Warcraft 2, back when I was like 8. Good times.

IMO, the best way to start with protoss is to build only 1-2 cannons for detection purposes, and just build units instead. Dragoons and zealotsare just as good if not better at defending your base than cannons, plus they're mobile.

If I'm playing a FFA game with protoss, I generally build enough zealots and dragoons to hold my expansion, add in a few reavers to act like siege tanks, and then just tech up to carriers. If I'm playing melee, I mostly go with dragoons early and get observers ASAP. At that point you can figure out what your opponent is doing and hopefully counter it. For example, if he's zerg, you probably want to go with templar + psi storm, and then adjust based on if he's going ground or air.

Is a dragoon like a dragon?

And :wow: ... y'all are dorky. :meanie:

Yes. I just found out my school email account will remain actice for nine months after graduation. I don't have to create a new email account and send new emails to all the schools I am applying to.👍

How many secondaries do you all have still to receive?

I've got 8 out there somewhere (2 are screened so I may only get 6).

Real Dragoons actually exist(ed).

dragoon was originally a soldier intended to fight on foot but to deploy by horse. They were therefore trained in horse riding as well as infantry fighting skills. Dragoon regiments were established in most European armies during the late 17th and early 18th centuries. Originally dragoons were considered as separate from regular cavalry, but during the 18th century they evolved into conventional mounted troops trained to fight from horseback.
The word "dragoon" is derived from the French Army designation dragon which was originally the name of a type of firearm (whose name means dragon) carried by French dragoons. In French, Portuguese and Spanish there is no distinction between the words dragoon and dragon.
The title has been retained in modern times by a number of armoured or ceremonial mounted regiments

Look, y'all are scaring people away with your 4-legged spider robots...

I may just have to join them.

 It'll be good for you! We're doing you a favor... actually, I've already got crap about spending too much time on SDN from my gf and I have <200 posts. 🙄

I'm waiting on 2. Then I'm done with this process.

I'm still waiting for Loyola, Northwestern, and Minnesota. Plus Pittsburgh I guess, but I just added that this weekend. Think I have a decent chance there, or did I waste my money?

Waiting on UMiami, Drexel, NYMC. I got Loyola on the 23rd, submitting tomorrow. I'm still sitting on 5(?) secondaries I think

I think you have a great chance anywhere you apply with those stats. Congrats on putting together a nice application.

I'm so not looking forward to NWern and Loyola.

Who brought up Dungeons and Dragons? D&D is the best thing ever if you can find people to play with that don't take it seriously. It's ****ing awesome if you can find guys that just want to have some drinks and roll dice and fight some nonsensical monsters.

Also, D&D isn't just for nerds. Half of my hockey team played it back in high school 😀

I brought up D&D, that's awesome that you had a good group to play with. It can be a lot of fun if you play with close friends who can relax and get into it. We would play straight through the night on some weekends, sleep for a few hours, and get right back at it. Oh, to be young.

I only have 4 left to receive. Two of which are already out for others, and one has no essays. I wish they'd hurry up and get here. I already have the essays written, so all I'd have to do is copy, paste, and proofread.

I'm pretty happy. I think only one or two of my schools changed their prompts from last year. I wrote all my essays in may, and I've only had to do slight revisions and write two or three more essays since secondaries started coming out.

Morning everyone! Happy Monday! It doesn't feel like Monday because I worked all weekend. Only a month left until I get my Master's though. Then I can relax a little bit while I wait for interview offers.

I only have five left. Three of them screen, and one of them has no essays. Feeling pretty good now 🙂

Edit: With PSU sending theirs out, I only have one school left that doesn't screen. Neat.

Morning. Last doctor visit for my mono today (hopefully). Then off to do some shopping. 🙂

I'm still waiting on 4 secondaries, 2 of which screen (UNC, Vandy). The others are Emory and Harvard. I'm hoping to get Harvard's and maybe UNC's this week. Emory won't be til late August and Vandy should be early August.

PSU is Penn State University? I wasnt aware that they screened!

sitting on 14 secondaries; waiting for 8 😛

Good morning all.

I just got penn state's secondary so now I'm just waiting on 3 more-NYMC, SUNY Stony Brook, and Drexel. Once I do the 50 word answers for penn state, I'll just have 2 out of the 3 essays to write for stony brook🙂

Er, you misinterpreted. Before, I had 5 schools, and 3 of them screened. Now I have 4 schools, and 3 of them still screen. PSU does not screen. I'm waiting on Miami (no screen), UNC, Vandy, and UCSF (screens). Therefore, I only have 1 school left that doesn't screen, so I only have one more guaranteed secondary to fill out.

Edit: Not that exciting now that I think about it.
