It's possibly your school calls General Chemistry Analytical and Analytical Chemistry Instrumental Analysis, but I'm just guessing.

Four hours worth of titrations, AND graded on quality of work.

Seriously? Dude, you lucked out. My school requires Analytical and lab for the minor. I would take it if it weren't for the lab, but my lab technique sucks... I'm the guy who spills sample all over the bench during orgo lab and scoups it back into the beaker... Ha ha. % what?

i did that freshman year
then i stopped coz i had too few classes left
now i wish i just double majored and took more classes
but if i try to double major now i'll end up taking MORE than 18 credits.. uggh 🙁

here's a question for y'all: siblings.
I was once an only child. Parents divorced. Dad remarried - 3 step-siblings. Then mom remarried - 2 step-siblings.

-Do they want to know about step-siblings? Does it really matter? or is it just so adcoms might know more about you?

Negatory... I'm got to through most of the demographic info, but am going to wait until I take my MCAT to enter the rest. I'm sure it will be 2 days after my exam. Day 1 will require copious amounts of alcohol and day 2 will require a large porcelain toilet to deposit the remaining undigested metabolites of the previous day.

Titrations were always my bread and butter in Gen Chem lab.

But I'm with you on the analytical lab. To go from a 100% to a 90% for a fingerprint... no thank you.

So first Organic lab... We have to take reactants mix them and then separate them again. We have to turn in our products (graded on color, amount, etc.). My ingenious lab partner throws the products away... so yeah, no points for me. I told the story to a friend and he was like yeah, ours didn't work so I just took the beginning reactants and turned them in and got full credit. Why didn't I think of that?????

I would throw them on there. I think people with siblings are typically more well rounded. But that's my bias. I put my posse in there. 😉

Dude, that really sucks that your summer courses are 13 weeks. At my school you can knock out Gen chem 1 and 2 in 10 weeks or orgo 1 and 2 in 10 weeks, or all four in or 20, whatever works for you. They also have 8 week summer courses, but that's the longest. I love those condensed courses. That's how I know I'll be all over a school with the block system. 10 weeks for a class? pfft. :meanie:

Ha ha. That's awesome. We didn't really get graded on % in organic 1. But in 2 we had to run analysis on 6 unknowns and determine what they were. Our write-ups for those had to be pretty spot on.

Man, I have so many bad/good orgo stories. I miss that lab. I remember one time I forgot to close the seal on the separatory funnel and I had just added Conc. HCl to our sample and poured it into the funnel... Needless to say it all started to pour out... But my lab partner being a quick thinker, cupped his hands together under the funnel and started to catch the sample. His screams of agony allerted the neighboring lab folks and they sealed the funnel for me. Then I had him hold it until I could get a flast. ha ha. Oh man, I've never heard a grown man scream like that before in my life. I guess he had a couple fresh cuts on his hands from yard work the previous day as well... oops. 😳

Good luck on the AMCAS everybody. I'm a slacker, I haven't even decided if I'm a 2014-er yet, I'm leaning towards no...but good luck to everybody here!

unless something apocalyptic or mind-crushingly depressing happens I will be part of the class of 2014. have my AMCAS all ready to go, though I think my university has an option to hold transcripts until spring grades are posted, which will take one more thing off my shoulders. I'll look into that tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow, I really should be either sleeping or studying for the final I have in 8 hours. but the internet is just so much more appealing.

someone nice on SDN helped me figure out the interfolio thing..

since im still waiting for 3 recs i figure i will jsut submit them all at once..it took forever creating the amcas forms for each letter though!!

im just happy its only 4 bucks! AND it does it overnight!! =)

im super happy!!

it def. is when u know how to use it! =)

lol..i cant say i havent had my share of struggles with it..

usually im not such an awful writer but the PS is jsut making me sound like a total sap..or some weird combination of trying too hard/really need to get a life/can you tell tell im nervous while writing this/trying not to mention anything froim the rest of my application..feel to it..i dont know...

tomorrowi may just start my PS from scartch.
