my parents dont really care what i do at this point so i'm gonna drive around a lot. i dont have too much saved (like 5k-7k left) but i have no more interview expenses (or wont after i withdraw) and i still have my teaching that brings in like 800-1000 a month (that i can fully save now!). so i think i can get by...


i still have to tell my PI. he wont be happy 😳

some of my friends are ridiculous at saving money. they make like 70k and save like 90k... i dont know how they do it

Whoa. I make like 65K and have like about 500 dolla to my name. clearly I love spending money...I just keep telling myself that I'm good for the economy.

my friend signed up for eharmony. she said it was a cool experience. the paper work/self description takes really long though and esp since she was a girl she felt the need to ask a guy friend to tell her about herself and that was so annoying, for me

What's the point in having it unless you're gonna use some of it? Like I try to not splurge all the time, but I don't wanna have money saved away when I'm 35 and realize I'm too old to spend any of it 😛

35? that's like the prime of a doctor's life. no worries, you will be paying loans + mortgage + kids + anti-depressants to tackle the spurs being crap in 2020+ (if the world doesn't end)

i havent been on SDN for a while-- seeing how much more competitve and prepared everyone is compared to me was starting to depress me-- but alas, i have returned and the fire of determination is bright in my soul. *giggles*

uggggg student loans. My guy (spartan alum) has mortgage size payments scheduled until he is 73. oiii.

Too old to spend it, meaning, can't go out/drink/party without seeming creepy, plus I'll have other commitments (family+job) that keep me from having time to anyways.

In other news, I got to work with a doctor who co wrote a crit care book that I am reading. totally coincidental....he actually spotted the manual at my compu. was really cool until we sorta butted heads on an issue and he told me that I was "just a nurse". 🙁


And my fish is completely outgrowing his tank. le sigh. PetCo sucks more money out of me than Wal-Hole.

I'm not saying that at all! And I try to live well within my means, and I really rarely do party--I mean, come on, I'm in med school. I'm just saying, that's something I can't really do later in life. I also won't be able to take spontaneous trips to do stuff, for example. So I might as well enjoy it while I can; there's no point in saving every single penny and then realizing you want something you can't have anymore is all I'm saying. If there's something else you enjoy spending your money on, more power to you.

I love clothes and shoes too, but I usually wait til birthday, Christmas, Easter, or mom being nice to get them so that I don't have to pay for them.

When I started undergrad, I said I'd save all my scholarship money for living expenses during grad school. It's not like I spend no money. I just save quite a bit.

*Grumble* Who decided that it would be a good idea to make the snooze button optional on the iPhone? Apparently I inadvertently set an alarm without a snooze button, so I actually turned off my alarm instead of snoozing... so I got up an hour late 🙁

If you don't like nice stuff it's not too hard to do, especially if you live in a low cost of living area. I've generally been spending less than 20% of my income on living recently. Of course, the other 80% all goes to taxes and med school, but that's another story😡.

Med school has taken my will power away. The only days I can get up on time are test days.
