yea. me too. but i did get the paper it was printed on out of the recycle bin (it would have been too obvious to steal paper out of the printer itself lol) so it could be from a while back. lets home she took it to get it fixed.

i feel like my essays were in pretty good shape-the doctor i worked with this summer read my PS and told me that if I wrote a book, he'd read it which was incredibly awesome to hear...but he followed that up with the fact that my personal statement is not personal enough...which was hard to hear but very useful indeed.
since i am a little late to the SDN game this round, i guess i can help out with the reading next year....i am going to miss writing papers about crazy stuff...maybe premeds will provide me with some entertaining reading material lol

oh and oops-i meant to say minor....freudian slip? the only dif between my minor and a major is 2 upper level foreign language classes and I didnt have time for that so yea.
 
So it looks like I might be going to DisneyWorld for the CapitalOne bowl after all. My girlfriend convinced me since it's my last bowl game and everything. This isn't something I'll be able to just drop everything and travel for anymore after this year.

Anybody else in?

Oh man, get ready for a deluge... I didn't even start reading until I became a mod in March and I was STILL getting a crazy number of requests even though the initial rush was over; at one point, I think I had NINE personal statements in the queue 😱

Still, it's a really awesome service if you can provide it, and it makes for nice study breaks 🙂 Most of them are going to be pretty average, there will be a couple of "stellar" essays... and then there will be a very small number of awful, but highly entertaining essays :laugh:

I think at least one person around here might go with you 😛

I'll also be going to the Valero Alamo Bowl this year in San Antonio, because my dad works for the sponsor. Hard to get too hyped about what'll probably amount to Texas Tech-Michigan State 🙄 But at least we'll have VIP passes, so our seats will be good, and most importantly, the food spread is amazing, and, of course, OPEN BAR 😀

I'm also working on convincing my dad that he needs to splurge on BCS Championship game tickets if Texas gets there this year--after all, you never know when you'll get another chance. But something tells me it's not happening 🙁

Heh, I'd send you one, but they're all on my old computer 🙁 I'm not so sure if it was truly stellarly written, so much as, "Holy crap you've had some amazing life experiences. If you have any decent stats whatsoever, you're a shoe-in." Then again, I suppose those kinds of stories lend themselves to being well-written since they're inherently interesting.

I would like the chance to go to a random bowl game. Alamo with your setup doesn't sound bad at all.

You NEED to get your dad to get BCS Champ tickets. Like you said, you never know what'll ever happen again. Me going to LSU's was one of the best decisions of my life, and I would have splurged even if we were going to Pasadena to play.

ah ok.
I discovered that having adventurous younger brothers is good for providing essay writing material-example:my college essay was on how i pulled my brother out from under the ice when he fell through on a frozen lake. that made me learn how fragile human life is you see. 😛
 
Some mods (cough ksmi cough) need to get the Official PS Reader List up for Class of 2015 (wow it's weird saying that number).

I want to read some crap... and good stuff.

Seriously, I was thinking about this just today and how it's about that time again. berken didn't start the last one until 12/23 last year, so I'm sure the new one will be up sometime this month. Whether or not ksmi beats me to it, I guess we'll see 😛

Ha makes no difference to me. Though ksmi's going to regret it when she starts getting PMs every single day asking for a copy of HER personal statement, as apparently that happened to berken just because she started the thread 😛

I never sent my PS itself, I just sent PMs to people asking if they would read it, but no response.

That's why it helps to know who the people are that are on here every day.
 
This might be a bad thing to say on SDN but I wrote my PS in one day and took another to edit it. 2 pages is not that much when you know what you want to say.

Although today I detected some opposition to me favoring Duke in the doctor I shadow. It was funny that even though I am not even accepted yet, he introduced me to a colleague of his by saying that I am a student who they (ENT dept) are trying to convince to come to Emory.

i know! Man, OSU's really good too, and cheaper, the only thing is that Case's match list is like friggin amazing, i think the research block really helps.

and I hope I do get the choice. I loved Emory since senior year of HS-I will certainly give it a fair chance to steal the victory from Duke 😛

oh yea, man, da U is still high on my list, especially if they come through with the 15-20k scholarship. looooved the location. it'll be tough figuring things out in the end b/w case, osu, and miami, but i'm liking case and miami a bit more i think. idk, i'm changing my mind pretty often, i feel like my y chromosome is deteriorating

i think they are all a bit different too. its a good dilemma to have. i enjoyed osu case and miami equally i would say. OSU - price, people, different tracks etc. Miami - HUGE hospital, location, cheap tuition, good finaid, sim center, Case - research, cleveland clinic, IQ groups, etc
 
Dammit, I have to do mild work now.

Only 1 class tomorrow, and my semester is done! I refuse to attend a Spanish class on Friday when I only have to make a 60 on the final for an A.

Yea, they all have their positives, Miami's location is a big plus, you'll definitely living the high life down there, especially with their cheap tuition and good financial aid. Case's research and ppl are pretty amazing, great hospitals around it, it just costs an arm and leg. I think if I wanna do surgery, I'd pick Miami, 'cause I heard due to the patient population there(i.e. lots of immigrants/illegals) there are less liability issues and you get to do a lot more.
 
If I had the decision to make...

I'd either pick OSU or Miami, whichever came out cheaper.

Of course, the only one I've seen was OSU, so my opinion means jack ****. :laugh:

Case and OSU tuition are like 15k apart. I really don't want money to be the deciding factor but dang. The good thing is that there really isn't a gap between the quality of these two schools...they both pump out great people. I just don't know what I want...

Maybe you can break it down to which location you prefer. Since you're from OH, I would think you'd know more about that than a lot of OOSers.

lol yea, my team is taking a big dump too, on themselves. my big timers are all sucking it up with kirilenko injured and gasol's just being embarrassing.

oh yea, the ppl are amazing at both schools, i think case offers a bit better with clinical and research experience tho

Hmm location...I think it's safe to say that Columbus > Cleveland. But, OSU has that college town feel. I'm not sure if that's what I want. Case feels more like a professional area/academic hub. But as far as weather goes...anything beats Cleveland.

I hear you there.

After my first two interviews (UVA and Baylor), I myself was thinking if I wanted a college town or a professional city-type area. Alas, I'll never have to make that choice - but I'm just saying.
