This may be a stupid question... but when's President's Day? And when is the holiday from school? We don't get things like President's Day or Columbus Day off. But next week is Mardi Gras Holiday. Yay 5 day weekends!!!
 
i just sold my iphone for a cool 400 bux on ebay. sadly, tomorrow is presidents day and i doubt the shipping will happen until tuesday.

wow ksmi you are young. what classification are you? i'm turning 21 in june and i won't drink like other people but will go rent me a car 🙂 sounds corny but i always wanted to drive several different cars and hate alcohol.

I am a Junior. My birthday is in March, so I'll be 20 at the same time as you, I'm not that young.

that thing is a classic. he has an intro before every chapter. I am halfway through with my MCAT prep course @ Princeton. The hardest sections i believe are Biochem, Molecular, and Electricity & Magnetism in physics.
 
im in the midst of the biochem/mobio chapters and im starting to freak out about all this detail that i used to actually know. i wonder how much of this is really mcat specific, but im sucking it up anyway.

i dread physical sciences, i just dont do well with physics and rates/mathy things on exams.
 
I can't speak of all MCATs but there was very little of the Biology detail on mine. It was all about knowing general concepts and then being able to decipher the passages. But it does help to know a little of the detail. Good luck studying y'all! I get my scores in 16 days!!! 😱

21 year olds can rent cars?? i thought you had to be 25. or is this a state-to-state thing? if i'm allowed to rent a car... well, a whole bunch of vacation options have just opened up to me 🙂

ksmi- aww thats cute..i cant believe ive just discovered it now!! Theres a few places around, like the melting pot, that are fondue restaurants..but it was kinda fun to just make it at home!!

recycling- yaaay for fringe..lol i love the beginning!! best part! its getting so good and im pissed we ahve to wait till april to see new episodes

rama- yeh studying sucks..i have an orgo test myself...no once cares about presidents day..its sad 🙁 good luck on ur test and get off sdn!😛
 
lol sdn is the only thing keeping me afloat right now. i graduated and since than i have no real support system or anything that has to do with pre-med issues. so while most of my friends either have jobs or are still in school, im kind of stuck in twilight zone haha.

but soon enough ill be riding the application wave !
 
My prediction is that you 2014ers in here will all try to submit as soon as AMCAS becomes available and so will make the server crash. Good luck this coming cycle.

has anybody else started filling out PRC forms yet? i can't believe college goes by so quick and now the long application process begins!
 
is my school the only one to have a Professional Recommendations Committee (PRC)? It's for the students applying to med school, dental school, pharmacy school, etc... they review a personal biography and history that i have to write, then meet as a counsel to decide how to process letters of recommendation. i was told this would be the first step for applying and i assumed it was common practice for everyone.

I can't figure out why Jerry did not lock the door. It would have been hilarious if the Kramer tried to pull that stunt with the door closed. Kramer knocking down the door would have made me laugh to death.
 
yeah its basically a pre-med health advisor committee or any variation on those words jumbled up somehow.

it used to be fairly common but as schools are cutting budgets, the lucky ones are getting commmittees and a composite letter. im in that process myself actually. so far one of the letter writers already submitted his to the composite so im getting excited.

oh yeah... its just not called that at my school. But I have started on that stuff too.
 
anotherface - that has happened on more than 3 occasions where the door was locked or shut. hilarity ensued.
 
mind you we are on page 14 of this thread. we may not get another shot at this sort of thing until page.... 2014 or 114? nah i think we should just go for the gold

yep! i had a ton of forms and essays due about 3 weeks ago to the committee...you also have to sign up for a committee interview! so much to do!

we call it HPAC at our school. I am in the process of getting my recommenders together to write me a GREAT letter. Not a good letter but GREAT!!! It better not be some generic letter. The process is long and tedious. I know this year will wear me out a lot. I'm only 20 but it feels like I'm living a life of a 25 year old.

For TX we use TMDSAS. So I will have to fill out 2 application. TMDSAS and AMCAS 🙁

ughh...so much to do.

i know! its gonna be a hectic couple of months! i guess im glad im not applying to texas schools lol..although ill prob apply to DO as well which is an extra application..ughh
 
so I didnt even realize this thread existed until someone nice told me about it!! yay for class 2014 I am officially joining this thread as well. currently preparing for the may 2nd mcat. I am so excited and I know they will go great..=) best of luck to everyone studying and best of luck on personal statements..future applications and all. i still cant get over the fact that this group exists and im way excited about it. yay!! go 2014ers =)

I also just noticed this thread. I'm so excited that it's finally approaching. I, too, have just starting in a 'pre-health committee.'

i also post in the nontrad forum occasionally . . . i think i'm in the gray area between nontrad and average applicant. i wasn't a premed in undergrad, so i spent a year working, re-evaluated my life, decided to go to grad school with the intention of applying to med school. so i'm hoping a good MCAT+ picking the right schools* will = acceptance!!! 😀

*any help anyone wants to offer is MORE than welcome, check out my mdapps!
 
I don't have a PRC, just a letter-forwarding service. Working on filling that up at the moment.

Wow. That is a detailed mdapp! I agree about the non-anon thing. It gives everyone else a lot more help when they can really see what other people put on their application. And for me, listing everything is helpful because I can keep track of it all.

I unfortunately live in Houston. too far away. I went to Ut-Houston b/c it gives me connections and it's where i want to go. I'm guessing that is why you chose UVA?
