Think of all the fun you could have convincing people to vote for Zelda and not that nipple-enhanced man-bat.🙂

Right-o. Well-ish. I like didn't sleep at all last night. I was trying to though.

Good morning to you too, Myuu. 😀 I like the signature. 👍

Aww, thanks! Zelda's down nine from overnight voting. We need to turn out the gamer vote.😳

G'day folks. I'm kind of stumped with a LOR kinda thingy, and I was hoping to hear your opinions on the matter.

So I graduated last year, 2008, from a small school. My grades were no problem, and I had completed all the prehealth requirements, but I didn't really know much about medicine (whether it was for me or not), so for the past year I've been doing research at Penn's med school.

Yada yada yada, obviously I do want to get into to medicine, or else I wouldn't be on this forum.

Anyway, here's the deal. My small school does a committee letter, which is already done and ready to go. However, my PI here is the chair of the department, and apparently a well-known name in the field. So obviously he's writing me a LOR. My small school has said that I can have him send them the LOR, and they will update the committee letter to include him in there.

But I'm wondering if I should have him just submit the LOR separately from my commitee letter, so that his name will carry the full weight?

Any thoughts/opinions/suggestions?

I know it's kind of anal, but aren't we all?

Recognizing you have a problem is the first step to recovery!🙂

But seriously, do they just send the committee letter or is that letter a cover letter for a packet that contains all your letters?

Well, I don't know. I've emailed the lady in charges of the committee letter asking her as much, so hopefully she'll get back to me.

Any idea what the typical committee letter really is?

Typically the committe letter is one letter, but some schools like mine call it a committee letter but its nothing more then a packet of all your LORs from teachers, so basically individual letters in a folder. If you have a true committee letter schools often want that and if you didnt get one they want an explanation.

I would just include it in the committee packet. I doubt it makes a difference whether it comes separately or in a packet. I mean, adcoms are going to read it anyways either way.

LORs are the bane of my existence right now. my school also does a cover letter and includes the packet of letters. now if i can only get my PI from last year to write one for me.

Finally joined the thread...I feel sad sometimes when I see all the 2013ers because I was supposed to be in 2013! 🙁 but 2008 was a terrible year for me for multiple reasons! So I decided to wait a bit...
:-D 2014 seems to be a good year though!! Good luck to all of us...I prefer even numbered years anyway!

I'm bored... hope everything is going well for the 2014ers.

^ What do you guys think should this dog's head be my new avatar?

You should use that as your picture in your secondaries... oh I'm delirious with tiredness and everything is funny.

:welcome: I'm sorry to hear that you couldn't apply last year, but glad to have you in this class. You're quite right. Even numbered years are the bomb.

That would upgrade you to way creepy...

Agreed. I'm all for donating to the site. But I am not in favor of the tongue thing.

good god, you guys already started this thread.....the app's not even open for another two months!

Don't even start. Let's see when the 2013 thread was started. *Command-Click* (new tab), *Click*, *Click*, *Click*, *Click*, *Scroll*, *Highlight*, *Command-c*, *Command-v*.

JK, I know it's neurotic, but it's good entertainment sometimes.

There were only 6 posts in the thread before 1/31/08 whereas the 2014 thread was officially created on 1/11/09.

Actually it opens in less than a month.

Anyways, I just finished my first draft of PS. It's 6150 characeters. This is not good.

Lol. Yeah that 2003 part of the thread was an obscure seperate thread that was merged.

What he said.

I'm tired of your excuses 2013. Man up and take responsibility for your thread.

So what if it was created in 2003? BD2B was being efficient by not creating an entirely new thread.

*sigh* so I lost everything that was on my computer. I had most of my documents on my hard drive but all the stuff I've updated recently (personal statement, etc.) is gone... all gone. This blows.

Don't sweat it, my first draft was over 10,000. I'm down to 5800 now. 😀

Gone like hard-drive-crashed gone? If so, then I'm sorry. I'm going to backup my laptop when I get home. 😱

Gone, like my computer is brand-new in all the bad ways. Yet it's still 3 years old. All my programs are gone but those are replaceable. But my pictures are still there... thank god. I'd be devastated if I lost all my pictures.

i couldn't let miss k with an athy steal all the glory.... so i hereby declare 2014 a feudal empire where custom titles reign
