today even though i knew at the back of my mind that amcas 2010 doesnt open for another few weeks, i started filling out the 2009 application, got through all the names and stuff, and then realized what i was doing...

wasn't it just yesterday that i asked someone about it opening in may...

im worrying that i'm goin to end up submitting late coz of MCAT

is july considered late??
coz i'm gonna take the test june 18,

You can submit the application without your scores and get everything all verified and such. And that test date should still put you relatively early-ish.

hey, it's cool. 🙂 But yeah, you can submit and schools will hold your app until they get your scores. I think it'd be best to submit as early as possible and only pick the schools that you're for sure going to apply to regardless of yoru score. Then, add on others after your scores come back.
 
i think the main delay in processing your app is getting the transcript in and going over it with a fine tooth comb to make sure you aren't a lying turd. the mcat score should be immediately updated since they are the same organization but i'm talking out of my butthole here
 
in any event im gonna try and get some sleep although its tough to sleep when its like 85 degrees

Hey, other reappliers and previous reappliers, does your AMCAS number remain the same from year to year? I need to give my recommenders my AMCAS number to put in the recommendation.

Ok, I really need to start working today, but before I do, I'll pose this topic of conversation.

What type of picture are you guys going to send to schools that ask for it?

Here are my thoughts. I have a picture from hiking that has a great view in the background, and I can zoom in on my face, so it's not like it's a panorama or anything. I like it, but I'm not too sure whether I should just have like a passport type picture. I just feel like the passport type picture is a little bit too plain for me. I want something to be in the background, or at least some interesting characteristic to show through!

Well, as long as you're fully clothed, not advertising alcohol, tobacco, or firearms use, and not a blank-faced zombie, you should be ok!👍

Im just gonna go with the passport photo, its boring but it wont be looked down upon at least! Ive always been told just keep it conservative, because you never know who on the committee will not like your "creative" picture. I remember one adcom told me this girl posted a pic of her in her colleges mascot uniform....lol needless to say she was rejected asap. We recently had an adcom from creighton come to our school trying to sell us on his school and he said just keep it conservative at all costs, boring is a lot better then taking a chance. While that is just one school, id rather just take that advice. Though I dont think your idea is a bad one! but who knows what an conservative 50 yr old man will think when hes looking at your app.

Yes you could. She took the mask/hat or w/e her schools mascot had on. In the backround it was the schools basketball game. Thats an extreme example I just thought it was funny someone would think that is ok lol. He also told us to have a very boring/conservative email address. Another applicant had the email adress sexybitch88....once again rejected but funny nonetheless😀

Ok the email address I understand. But the picture? Like just because she's a mascot doesn't mean she'll be a bad doctor. I mean I guess it's like the formality of being "professional," but still, it's not like it was offensive or anything.

That's a super-extreme example. If you're comfortable showing it to others (and you're of sound mind), any non-alcoholic outdoor happy-you-without-sunglasses headshot should be fine.👍

YYYYAAAYYY!!!! It's is so exciting getting to the end of the semester. And a week from yesterday is my last day in office for the org. that has consumed my life for the past 3 years. :soexcited: I'll miss it, for sure. But it'll be nice not having that huge responsibility anymore.

I struggle to find pictures lacking both those qualities, so I took a new one.

I hear Yoda's a smart kid.

Although, I think an alcohol picture may show med schools that you are well-rounded. Not the kind of kid that sits around studying all the time. Isn't that what they want??? 😛
