I loved my Saturday night shifts!😍
why? You are applying in a few weeks, what would extra volunteering do now?
That's why I picked then. I've heard that weekend nights are when the coolest things happen. I've only worked Tuesday mornings and Sunday afternoons before. Sunday was busy but nothing really exciting happened. Tuesday was just.
This is not to put on my primary. I just want to. I like volunteering. 🙂
Nevermind. AMCAS just emailed me. They got my first transcript.
Or a lot of mid-19th century european fiction...

I don't care how much you say this, we all know it'sIt would take a special breed to enjoy the feeling of being relatively useless.

Yeah, but since Masons are actually taking over the world I'm going to say it is non-fiction...
Sundays and sunday nights are generally considered the slowest times at my rescue squad. It depends on the season though. When it's cold out, there's not many good calls. I can remember a shift when I only went to two calls. You haven't seen boring until you've done Monday morning.![]()
Yep you're right. No one in their right mind would like helping people. What was I thinking?
Not everything is about getting into med school, you know? There are people, albeit probably few here, who actually enjoy volunteering. I'm not doing anything else with my time, so why should I waste it sitting around doing nothing? Sure, at times, the actual medicine you may get to see while volunteering is less than thrilling, but being there making someone's day a bit better is why I'm there. The idea of volunteering at a hopsital to learn about medicine isif you ask me. That's not why I'm doing it.
Good thing I went to Mason.
Off for some more studying.🙁
I hate this.
Required a double post to justify it to yourself, eh? If you want to talk yourself into believing it, that's cool.
Really what you're doing is stealing a job from some little old lady who really has nothing better to do with her time... But whatever makes you feel better...![]()

Listen, obviously I'm a bit peeved that you're implying that I'm a pre-med who does whatever she's supposed to to get into medical school, not because she wants to. Sure I have, we all have. I think shadowing is a complete waste of time. You don't do anything. This is not the case here, but there's really no point in arguing with you. You don't know me, so you can't possibly understand my intentions for doing things. Believe what you want.
Can't believe I'm actually agreeing with Ksmi about something, but sometimes volunteer work can be done out of altruism and not just personal gain.
azn actually agreeing with me?? I shall cherish this moment forever and ever. 🙂

You should also take a picture. Just in case, you know, the servers fail and erase the last 20 minutes of posting.

Blasphemy!
It takes a real man to make nice with his sworn enemy 👍
Where's that daily SDN server failure when you need it?!?!?
So you are acknowledging that you worship the Class of 2013, a rather scornful pantheon of gods and goddesses.
It's about time.
4 more, 0C.

I love volunteering. The experience is what you make of it. If you go in every day expecting to be useless, you will be useless every day. There are always things to do. The trick is being enterprising enough to find them.

By the way, I don't buy into Altruism, but that's a different argument and I'm not really in the mood to wax philosophical, especially considering how edgy some seem today.
Hope you're not applying to Ohio State then.![]()
Haha. Ha. . . NoDarn, MDMan is back... back to being boring.
Haha. Ha. . . No
Anyone interested in a personal story?

Truly selfless.
Ksmi is the reason why healthcare exists in U.S. today.

in other news...i just got back from 1/2 price books and found 3 kaplan books. that's right 3 books in a complete set. got it for FREE!!! that's right for FREE. new 2007 edition. there wasn't a price on there so i went to the counter and they said, it's not label for resale. so they handed them to me and said "here you go". i was stunned!!! 😱 now i can practice with kaplan's materials if i need to retake again. 😀
the top thing is getting kind of overrated...in my opinion of course. don't get offended now.
OK, so I apply this week for a credit card in my name. I want to have it this summer, so I can build up my own credit history and not have use checks or cash for everything. Long story short, I go home a couple days ago for my brother's HS graduation and there's a letter from Chase - my app for the card has been rejected due to my "failure to establish a credit history." I'm like, WTF?! That's the whole reason I wanted the card - to build a credit history. So I call and get some jerk on the phone (after 10 minutes of computer-lady) and he basically tells me there's nothing they can do. . . So I'm going to be stuck with a credit card in my parents' name for a while 😡. I just don't understand why the hell a lack of a credit history = bad credit history. They don't want my business? Fine. I'll take it somewhere else
/end of rant
you sound too excited for mere...books.🙂
but top.
Sigh, if I can only get Ksmi's picture here.
wait...students can volunteer/shadow again? I was told no students allow in the ER anymore until the swine flu die down.

here is what you should have done to build a credit history. use your student debit card from your bank for awhile and ask them if you can apply for a credit card. this should help somewhat. if not...tell your parents to buy something espensive, if needed of course, and make monthly payments in your name. let them cosign it. this way, you can build your credit history without worrying too much. that's what my parents did and now...after 5 years...i finally got my Amex card 😀
