Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I did that too... I checked it every 5 seconds. Then I fell asleep checking it, woke up at 4:30, saw my score and started making some very masculine grunting sounds.

Pretty sweet.

Have any of you seen the simulation dummies that a lot of schools are using now for clinical skills?
I'm applying for a job at the simulation center for my gap year. I think they're pretty cool, we've used the dummies at our rescue squad a little. They're high tech. 👍

My scores come out tomorrow. I so can't sleep.

it's horrifying. i get mine on May 26! 😱

Yeah. The ride I did yesterday was to raise funds for a new simulation center at McKee Medical Center in Loveland. They brought out one of their dummies and I was pretty amazed. It seems like a great way to learn the techniques. If you knock the dummy's front teeth out while intubating, you can just put them back on. That's a lot harder with a real patient.

Congrats, man! That's a great score!!!

I think there was a thread on this last year. If you are using Mozilla Firefox or a browser other than internet explorer there are some odd character additions. Try uploading your PS with internet explorer.

Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine.👍

University Program==Just Case
CCLCM==????+Case+SAIENZ

Are you doing the research focused program at Case or are you doing the standard program. I don't know what the names of them are...

I'm doing the University Program, which does have a thesis requirement, but is not nearly as research focused as the College Program (CCLCM), unless you want it to be.👍

Ah, nice! Do you happen to have a good link for an explanation of the program differences?

C'mon 2014ers! Wakey, wakey!

I really am having trouble as to what to add and what not to...and i know its early but i figured since im applying to a ton of schools id start some of the more beastly secondaries....though itll suck if i write this and UCSD wont even send me a secondary haha...

I did not get a UCSD secondary, but I probably would've copied and pasted (with edits) my Vanderbilt secondary.:laugh::laugh:

(I know that's totally unhelpful! Essentially, I tried to highlight events/things that showed qualities I had and experiences that molded my obviously bright future.)

Overview of Applications:
Rejected Pre-Secondary
Mayo Medical School (MD): "Everybody hurts... sometimes."
University of California, Davis (MD)
University of California, San Diego (MD)

Davis sent me one last year... it's possible they don't like reapplicants...

elijah, it's soooo early, secondaries already?😱

I'm still working on my primary.

top.

I tried to yesterday. But it was no fun.

In other news. I wore a sweatshirt this morning because it was in the low 60's. The low 60's??? In South Louisiana?? In May??? The world is coming to an end.

It'll be way less fun with deadline pressure. 🙂

60's cold!? Are you crazy! That's short and t-shirt weather!

Yeah, I made a list of all my supposed prompts, and I'm going to try to write one essay each day, starting with the secondaries that came out first last year.

Nice! It will be a good idea to get ahead. I'm going to focus on Secondaries during the month that I'm waiting for my MCAT score. It will give me something to take my mind of my possible MCAT failure... ha ha

I'm pretty sure you can. 🙂

Sweet! I'm going to apply there then. I had a buddy that interviewed at Case and was seriously considering it over CU, but case waitlisted him and CU accepted him. Now I think he is set on CU, even if he comes off the waitlist. He just doesn't want to withdraw from Case until he finds out if he is accepted or not. He did get into Ohio though, so he doesn't think it's an OOS issue.

Too many schools for me. I don't even know where to start.

Make sure he stays in contact with Case! They look very favorably on displays of interest!

It's humid, so it seems colder.

this logic makes no sense to me. humidity makes it seem warmer. trust me, i'm from south florida and i've spent a bunch of time out west... 110F with 0% humidity feels cooler than 90F with 100% humidity.

It's humid, so it seems colder. And in the winter time, yes, it's nice weather. But after a few weeks of high 80's, low 60's seems cold.

Yeah, I figured the humidity would play a role. You should be thankful, now you have a decreased likelihood of contracting Dengue or Malaria today!
