311 sucks. They have put out basically the same cd over and over again for what? a decade?

But the CD is really good. I like them.

great!!! now i know what books to read and pretend to have an interest in for interviews! :meanie:

Ha ha. I just picked up The Fountainhead and The Virtue of Selfishness. I hear their both very good.

But I wouldn't say you read them unless you really did or you'll be in deep ****e if your interviewer has read them.

you guys are talking about books? I wish had time to read...
although The End of Poverty is at the top of my list right now

If I was an interviewer and caught someone doing this I would lead them on with a fake, ridiculous story for awhile and then tell them it isn't the story... Yeah.

eh i guess i dont know...ill figure it out when the time comes. Since they often ask about health policy and such i figured those would be my medically related books and im sure they want to hear about a book not about medicine showing you have some sort of interest outside that. Its all a game anyways, just trying to figure out the best way to play it 😛. If you could really be yourself at an interview, most of us probably wouldnt be accepted lol..And yes those geico commercials are stupid...thats the money you could be saving with geico-_-.....

I'm going to disagree on this one, well minus the sarcasm and tasteless jokes...

I did hear of a great public policy and medicine book, but I can't remember the name of it. When I see the girl who told me about it again I'll ask her and let you know. She said the first 15 pages is really all you need. 😀

w/e the **** happened to lukkie? you know 0C?

Dude, I have no idea, man. I'm thinking he's doing some serious recovery today or that girl stayed at his place was too heavy for him and suffocated him.

That would be jacked, but pretty funny.

cool let me know. I was sorta being sarcastic when i said that, obviously you cant just be fake as you will come off in a bad light. Just more like as im sure you know, at most interviews you have to play the game, whether its a job or med school. Theres certainly an art to interview well imo.

lol that would be great. I didnt mean though i would pretend i read it, id read it then just try to sound like i actually cared about it 😉

I strongly agree.👍

I agree. Fakeness isn't really the problem.. It's constructing your persona in a believable way.

Now if only I could talk like Obama.

PS) Im listening to his speech in Cairo on Youtube.

Ha ha. Yeah, I know, man. I agree with the art part. It's all a packaging and sales game.

Exactly.

No joke, man. He made McCain look like a Jack@ss. All I know is he better not F-up our country. I'm starting to see socialism correlates... :scared:

I used to read a whole ton of medical/biology books and loved them, but then became too poor to buy them and too busy to read them. I had a hospital job where HR placed me in facilities management and I didn't do anything but read and browse SDN. That's when I joined. I had enough free time to read the entire 7th Harry Potter in one shift.

Good lord, man! You either read hella fast or you have a long @ss shift.

Good book though.

The 4th and 6th were the best, IMO. I want to watch the movie.

Which one are they getting ready to release in the theaters now? Is it 5 or 6?

I don't remember what was in each book, they all kind of blend together. I liked all of them though.

Am i like the only person in the world who hasnt read HP...cause it seems that way 😳

They are good, man. You should read them to your son. I bet he would enjoy them.

Well, I do read fairly fast, but it was also a 9 hour shift. I also read on my lunch break. It was basically non-stop and pretty ridiculous.

Dude, that's crazy. I wish i read that fast.

Anyway, I'm off for the night. I've got a good book here and it's calling my name.

dunno who posted it because between the times I check this thread there's 100+ new posts, but Kafka is great

I'm going to see that tomorrow night. I can't wait. I hear it's hilarious.

Why would you watch the pre-cgi version? I like the space sci-fi stuff, but I just didn't think Star Trek lived up to the hype. I have a feeling that a good portion of people who say they liked it so much said it because they thought they were supposed to like it because of the great reviews it got. Don't get me wrong, I thought it was entertaining, but it wasn't great or anything. I would probably give it 3.5 to 4 out of 5 netflix stars.
I think the people that really liked star trek liked it because it was legitimately funny, and everything looked cool.

what happened to lukki? he wake up yet?

Question of the day:

If you can have one super power, what would it be and why?
I would want the ability to teleport. Think about how much time that would save you. AND you could technically fly since you could just teleport repeatedly in mid-air.

Why is the stanley cup at the same time as the NBA finals??
It always is, but they never play a game on the same night.
I hate the geico commercials with the bundle of money. So stupid.
But don't you love that song. I want to download it.
Am i like the only person in the world who hasnt read HP...cause it seems that way 😳
Yes. Now begin reading!

Actually, seriously, they're good books to read if you don't read a lot. They're really easy to read and really exciting.

I probably won't even be able to see the 6th movie early due to time constraints and strict lock and key situations. What good is working at a movie theater if you can't do that? Man, I need a new job. That one was my favorite book. Guess I didn't reach my 100th post tonight. 🙁
Hopefully tomorrow.

Dude, it's not too late. You just need 4 more!

Hi everyone! :hello: I'm here by myself...

I figured I'd just go ahead and say good morning now. I'm headed to bed and I don't plan to wake up any time even remotely early. It's going to be a lazy Sunday for me. That'll be a first in a while for me.

Morning.

Am i like the only person in the world who hasnt read HP...cause it seems that way 😳

I can't be your friend anymore. I'm one of those people that dresses up for the book and movie releases. I got the 7th book at midnight and I didn't sleep until I finished it. That was a long day.

No degree is going to increase your chances, major in whatever you want and take the premed courses.

The premed courses are the classes required for med school, as long as you take them any major is fine. You should also have some clinical (working with patients at a hospital, clinic ect) work experience or volunteering. The MCAT tends to be the big gate keeper when it comes to med school...

Most schools do not have a bachelors in premed, although I've heard some do.

SDN is full of good info on this stuff, so stick around. You can probably dig up some helpful stuff with the search function, there's like 10+ years of premed questions and other stuff conserved on here.

I don't know, I think engineering may help me get in, but my story is completely different than bexdme's. I wanted to be an engineer from the time I was 5 until I was 21. The reason I say engineering may help me get in is because I'm writing a lot of my secondaries about how being an engineer will make me a diverse addition to the class and how I decided late to become a physician.

The answer is still "do a major that you'll enjoy and you'll be able to excel in," but I'm a fan of trying a major that will challenge you and make you seem a little bit different than your typical premed.

Good luck to everybody this cycle! I was just accepted through my early assurance program on Thursday so I am all done!

Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.........it was an early assurance program.
