you don't see assaults?

i saw a cop with a bullet wound, guy hit in the head with a baseball bat, someone stabbed with an ice pick, a 15 y/o pregnant girl that wouldnt stop masterbating, a woman hit in the face with a hammer/run over with a scooter (domestic abuse), people running away from other ppl and falling out of windows, etc

that was last night

Yeah we're not a trauma center nor do I work at the main downtown Orlando campus where most of that stuff is seen. However, we get a LOT of psych/overdose patients. Like A LOT.

anyone have any info or palces i can look to understand what reforms we are looking at for healthcare? Is anything even somewhat finalized? I truthfully know nothing at all about this, not only is it something that I should know for interviews...but this stupid question from stony brook is killing me. " .10. HEALTH CARE REFORM IS ON THE HORIZON. HOW DOES THIS EFFECT YOUR CHOICE OF A CAREER IN MEDICINE?".

I almost want to say it doesnt effect my decision but that seems fail lol...i need to read up on some stuff.

That seals the deal. I'm applying to Temple.

That is quite the essay. I think about the reforms all the time, it actually demoralizes me quite often as of late. But then when all is said and done, I still want to be a doc, because everything else I could ever try would be second to medicine. I think they want to know that you're dedicated. You don't need to know specifics, rather give them your stance and let your passion for medicine bleed off of the page. This is an opportunity to show them you care about patients and medicine; while understanding bureaucracy will always play a role you're still willing to deal with all the red tape to treat patients because when all is said and done it's the patients that really matter.

That's the take I would go for.

agreed

u sure u didnt pick up the lottery ticket after the original buyer found out the pick 4 combo

That could be the case, the lotto was for the day before, but the ticket was just on the sidewalk and it looked perfect as if someone had just had it printed (no crumples, dirt, folding, etc....)

Guess it doesn't matter either way because it wasn't a winner.

Some one was helpful enough to post links earlier in this thread. In regards to your essay I'd follow Sub's advice. If you'd still like to learn more about the reform (interview material or just your own curiosity) I'll re-list the links here because searching this thread is crazy hard:

cool see time off sdn does pay 😛. Seems like everyone whos normally here all has interviews now!! 🙂 Does that make us awesome?

thanks guys!!🙂 I already scheduled for Sept 18th, sorry ksmi!

time off sdn really does pay-I just checked all my statuses online and I got an interview from temple too!!!😀

Very true. I work full-time in the ER so i definitely go through MANY shifts never seeing anything outside of vaginal discharge, abdominal pain and flu... but on the other hand, you get a lot of diamonds in the rough.. tonight I got to see a patient with rhabdomyolysis, one with an acute subarachnoid hemorrhage and one with a recurring intussusception of his small intestine. On the other hand, an 88 y/o patient also kicked me in the ribs and called me a filthy f-ing pig tonight. You get your good days and your bad ones.
Are you a tech? I'm applying for some of those positions now. It seems like it'd be repetitive, but cool to see a lot of the cases.

No, I'm an ER scribe, which is probably the best ER job you could have besides being a physician (or MAYBE a nurse).

I'm applying for that too. They won't look at my app until 9/14 though, so ER tech is looking more promising.

What the hell? This interview question asks me about my favorite TV doctor. What do I do? I don't watch these shows. Do I just tell them that I don't watch TV shows like ER, House, Grey's anatomy, etc?

Sound fair enough to me.

You haven't watched Scrubs? I don't watch the other shows either, but I've seen almost 5 seasons of scrubs (I'm a bit behind, but I plan to get caught up on the episodes I missed over the next year).

Sorry to hear about that, bro. I hope she's doing alright.

Hope everything turns out okay. At least it seems you can take some good out of it.
:luck:

Other than the nightly news and Sportscenter, I never watch TV.

me neither. s'ok SP, after our 35+ mcat scores this tuesday we'll start snatching a few of these interviews. 🙂xf🙂

Ha ha. Dude, that sounds like a wet dream I had the other day.

I hope we did though! We might even get lucky and have access to our scores tomorrow. 😀

Scrubs is my favorite show of all time! 😍
I like it because it doesn't try to be as serious as those other crap medical shows. They put just enough medicine in there to make it a doctor-y show.

I agree. But sometimes I catch myself wondering if I'll ever be as compassionate as JD comes across with his patients. I don't think so... 😳

ive been a lot more calm this time than when i was waiting for 4/18 scores...but im starting to get a bit nervous. all my eggs in this basket. either way, some closure will be good.
