Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
True, but they would not have called you in for an interview if they weren't interested in you. Also, don't forget, most medical schools offer acceptances to ~2x as many students as their class size allots, so you can pretty close to double that number and your percentages look a lot better. 😉

I like your thinking!

Oh, and your user name keeps making me think of the song "Friends of P..."

👍

Geek-rock 😍

Guys, this is a GREAT day...

Hopkins invite!!!

Well, if Mayo don't love me, maybe now I have another good option 🙂

(understatement of century implied)

Congrats, man! Damn, you're blowing this cycle up!

Hmmm, not familiar of "Friends of P..." I am out of the loop musically though. I'm that guy that never knows the song, lyrics, or artist. I just hit play.

Another rainy day with multiple ant attacks. And practice at 8 in the AM tomorrow.

Fixed.

Nothing like humid heat, ants, and possibly rain-soaked white practice shirts from the cool Southern sky... 😉

memories. 👍

Ha, I'm not stupid enough to wear a white shirt to practice ever.

That's a shame... And you wonder why people are more interested in following the cheerleaders. If you guys switched to white shirts you would have more people watching practice than you do at the actual games. 😉 😛

i'm personally not as much a fan of IPA's as other beers

Yeah, but really let's be honest, just about any beer > no beer on a Friday night.

👍

but I'm old and tired. and its bedtime.

night kids 😀

I'm with you on that one. This is my new favorite. They did 5 cent Smithwick's night 2 days ago and I got a free t-shirt! It made my week!

Ha ha. Damn! I'm older than you and still partake of the frothy beverages. It must be your wife calling, "Babe, are you coming to bed?" Man, I used to hate that... It was my gf, but they still seem to think that when they're in bed you should be in bed... lol. Female logic.

a trend i noticed on SDN...

there is clearly waves of applicants. most of us were part of that first wave...turned in amcas asap or close to it, read over every direction 5-6 times, settled down early

there is a new wave of applicants coming on now. the same questions that were asked 2 months ago, are coming up again. it's quite interesting. a whole new group of neurotics.

I've sort of noticed that too. I should find and bump the AMCAS questions thread.

Is that dark and sweet?

It's darker, but not all that sweet. It's really smooth. The closest thing I could equate it's taste to is a really smooth Newcastle.

It's made by Guinness, but not nearly as heavy. If you like brown ales I would highly recommend it.

I suppose that would be me too... I just submitted 3 of my secondaries between last Friday and yesterday... Oh yeah, they were my only three... 😳 I'm submitting one more next week, but that's it for me. Just four this year and I'm going to see how it pans out. I was going to submit to a fifth, but my state school likes second time applicants so much that I figure it's worth it to apply light this year then do a full on application cycle next year, starting early like you guys. Who knows though. I was in the first group to submit secondaries to my state school (they are pretty late and don't even open up their status page until Sept. 5th), so that's really all I care about.

Eh, I probably wouldn't like it. I'd drink it, but I wouldn't go out and buy it.

Taste preference is such an odd thing. It baffles me that someone might not like it, but I imagine it's the same thing for Sierra Nevada's, I'm just not a fan. I've tried a number of different types, but they all have that hoppy metallic taste.

Yeah, it's weird. I love hops, not a huge fan of malty beers.

I know that I don't post here that much, but... YALE INTERVIEW!!!! soooooooo excited!

also, congrats to everyone else who got invites this week!

It's not even noon yet, and this thread is making my beer buds water. Why am I wasting my time on coffee?

wow you guys got some great interviews-Johns Hopkins and UCSF wow! congrats!!!😀

and i love saturdays in the fall-so many football games to choose from🙂

I was wondering where a more random conversational thread existed. I guess this is it. I should've clicked sooner.

so i put a bing alert on cleveland tix since they were very expensive at the time i searched

originally it was at $307

then it went $310, $310, $310, $264, $264, $310, and now its at $522 (these are the lowest searched price)

so not to sound pretentious, but for those of you guys with interviews in the double digits or close to that, are you guys ever going to start turning down invites?

it's getting super expensive and potentially having permanent effects on my performance in class

not until i get accepted and even then, probably not because of financial aid will be a bigger burden to me for the rest of my life

Had to shell out more bucks coz I have to dry-clean my suit. I wore it only twice, too. But I sweated so much in it in Miami.
How many times a year do you guys usually dry-clean your suit?

im not sure-there's a few schools i might decline an interview from but i think i'll go to most of them. Partly because I want to see what kind of financial aid I'll get and partly because I really don't think I can know where I want to go without seeing all potential options. Luckily I'm out of school and have a really flexible job, but I'd imagine that being in classes still would be extremely stressful. Travel costs are getting up there but there's only 1 school I applied to that I'd fly to and I already have an interview there so the rest of it's just gas money. and the only one I have at the moment I'd consider not going to is ~20 minutes from where I live so it's not like that'll really help with expenses lol😛 hang in there though, im sure it'll all be worth it in the end and we'll all end up at schools that are great for us!
