my flight to minnesota is pretty lame

i have to drive to allentown from philly (1 hr drive) and take a continental flight to newark (newark is an hour and 30 min from philly at most). the flight itself is an hour and 30, which makes no sense. so once im in newark, i have an hour and 15 layover. then i fly to minneapolis from there. 3 hour flight, but 2 hours w/ time zone difference

can i just show up at newark? it would save me like 2.5 hours
 
a direct flight from newark is around 280 and a direct from philly is like 350

taking this roundabout way, i paid 150 rt

Why don't you just drive to newark? I guess your ticket is already booked.
 
i would think you could show up in newark if you really wanted to. though I would confirm with the airline to make sure they don't cancel your connecting flight due to the no-show.
 
i called and ask, i think they were being shady. since i dont have checked in luggage im pretty sure its usually not a problem, but continental said no before but i shall ask again
 
If you don't show up to the first leg, I'm pretty sure they'll cancel you on subsequent legs.
 
What should I have for lunch? This is an important decision, because you only get one lunch per day.
 
oh btw, pitt students (and staff) get free chipotle every monday at the store across the school

Soooo.... after you guys get accepted this week and next, can you please cancel some of your interviews so the bare boned rest of us like myself can feed off your scraps?

if i get accepted somewhere that may be cheaper than ohio state then i'll give that to you

i told my PI the dates that i'll be interviewing. so i can take paid vacation days for those and still take leaves. i was planning to go to all the interviews before january so i can spend as much time away as possible. and then come january i would switch to a higher paying job...

yea i dont know how it will work out. we are relying on starting pitching, middle relief and of course our bats. we have the dodgers # but the yankees would be scary
 
whats the one sporting event that you would want to see and will try to see before going off to med school

i looked at the world cup, i cant afford it. well, even if i could i dont think i would get a lot out of it.

i was thinking of going to see Pats at Indy. I think Manning is having one of his best seasons and he might end up as the greatest ever. one of those things you would want to see.

This is true. I thought that the final battle between Harry and Voldemort in book 7 was completely underwhelming and ending in such a cop-out. And yet, her books' action scenes were still better than the 6th movie's.

Id love the pats and indy as that game every year is always a classic. I think brady might be a bit more adjusted too and make it a game. I want to go to the superbowl...espeically if the colts make it this year. Actually if the colst do **** ill take out a 2 k student loan or something and go haha...


Also this is maybe a stupid question but once accepted can you withdraw from schools that havnt even granted an interview? I just want to get rid of all these schools i hav no desire to attend if i hear some good news from one of the 3 schools i interivewed at. When you withdraw do you just send an email?
 
The middle relief is solid although Eyre went down last night so that never helps. You guys have what it takes to get there but throw in the Angels under "scary" too... either team is a tough out.

Yeah, the NL is "meh" this year... I thought the Cards were actually gonna show something with their pitching and Holliday + Pujols but they were so sloppy in the field the last few weeks... they basically handed the series to LA.

Final Four is AMAZING. I went to it 2 years ago when it was in San Antonio and was at the championship game when Mario Chalmers hit that ridiculous shot to send it into overtime against Memphis. THAT was an intense crowd.

yea college bball is great entertainment, i went to the philly first rounder last year where eric maynor came short against UCLA.

you rarely see the pros lose a 5 point lead with 5 min to go but in college that lead would swing like 18 times

what would a LAA vs LAD series be called? do they have subways in LA?

Yep. "Dear school, I'm writing to request that my application please be removed from consideration." That's all you need.
 
It might be a sweet revenge keep these med schools in the dark. Like they're keeping us in the dark right now.:meanie:

Wow... world cup would be just plain awesome. I love the atmosphere of international soccer.

Hmm... I would say take a trip to Ann Arbor and see OSU Mich this year, should be a battle. I haven't seen a game there so that would be awesome.

Or go see the Cavs / Lakers Christams game... Shaq + Lebron is gonna be such a spectacle this year... throw in the Lakers and it will be something else.
 
tickets to see lebron at madison square garden are $150+ a piece already for the worst seats
