congrats blue just saw you got acceptedto FIU

my computer is mad slow cant do much

what happened in world news today

do we really have a 14 person fantasy league? It's gonna suck. After the first two picks, the talent dropoff will be huge.
It will be like 1st pick= Chris Paul, 2nd pick= Devin Harris 3rd pick= Troy Murphy, etc, etc, etc.

I BS about my research at my interviews. At MSSM, the doctor asked me about my research, but straight up told me he knew nothing about my research topic, so I immediately launched my BS. Dropped a lot of enzyme names and nomenclatures, sounded impressive even to me, so maybe he was impressed too.

Lol yea, I try to do the same thing, but the dude knew what a microtome was and how sections are collected on a grid, so I was like crap, I gotta keep it real this time.

It's very odd when people ask you to describe research, because it's so narrow and not very many people know exactly what you're talking about.

You can either be very general and say what you wrote on your app or go into detail and have everything go over the interviewer's head.

It's really a lose-lose situation here. Either I say what I actually do and get blank stares or I tell them that I calculation the transmission of EM waves when they hit stuff... because that sounds so difficult. 🙄

It'd probably be easier with pen-and-paper. I can never explain calculus to my college friends over the phone, for example.

apparently i got accepted today at UofL. that reduces stress a lot and i can now change focus to looking for new jobzz

minneapolis/st paul is a cute city btw, everything is so new

Dude, congrats(yea, i'm a rebel)

Oh good lord do I hate EM waves, especially when it gets into quantum mechanics. I did so terribly in my EM and QM classes lol

yay congrats!!!!!!😀

Congrats. Dude, isn't it huge weight off your shoulders? I feel like I can finally breathe again.

gosh i want to breathe! haha jk, i'm actually not really stressed about it. i have faith it'll happen eventually and while it would be nicer to get an acceptance within the next couple of weeks just to know, if i have to wait a while and get off waitlists so be it. we'll get there eventually caniac, elijah, and anyone else i missed that's still waiting!🙂

dingyi, is OSU your top choice right now?

That or Wake right now, but man I felt really comfortable at USF as well. I'd say that OSU has a slight lead right now, the only thing I didn't really like about it is the fact that it's in Ohio. The school and people are awesome, tho.

Congrats to all you who received acceptances today!!

The most exciting thing that happened to me today: I got a $50 parking ticket, which will double within a few weeks if I can't pay it, all because I was running an errand for a friend.

Goncrats BB!

Now we just have to get adcoms to accept Elijah, Ciello, JJ, and Jackson. I'm making a call...

can i get one too?? now that i have finally had an interview, i am accept-able 🙂👍 (think it went really well too yay!)

although they said the committee wouldnt meet again til the end of november . . . so it looks like i am in for a long wait. by the time i get one you'll all have five. but then again all i need is one, by august, right??

boo . . . no good deed goes unpunished, I guess.

the clinic where i volunteer has tricky downtown street parking, i swear if i get a ticket while volunteering i will go fight my ticket on principle alone. one time a cop let me out of a speeding ticket when i told him i was a student because he 'believes in education'

Lame day for me too. Didn't get much accomplished at my research and my sister has been in the hospital since yesterday with a nephritis and kidney stones and is having surgery tomorrow. Awesome! -_-

yikes, surgeries are always tricky, are they at least doing it arthroscopically?

Was that a reference to "Wicked"?? Or just coincidence that the line also can be found in that musical's lyrics...?

pretty common saying, i think, but dunno where it originated

I mean, I realize it is a common saying, and I realize that it did not originate from "Wicked." However, I love that musical and got momentarily excited, hoping that it was a reference to the song. Considering it's a pretty popular musical, it isn't entirely unlikely that it was a reference... right?? 😳

Thanks Blue and I'm not sure -- they tried to go in today but apparently couldn't get in (because of ribs or something?). Hopefully it gets taken care of tomorrow 👍

actually it might have been the crying. either way = no ticket 👍

:smack:

ha, my friend did that too, and he's a guy. i think the cop was too embarrassed for him that he just let it go.

i think mary's emoticon response says it all

Not really. It's not really about the calculations. So it's not really like calculus.

Oh, I just noticed this. I didn't mean it was like calculus, just that it might be helpful to be there in person and/or with pen/paper to explain it.

Or I could not have any idea what I'm talking about. Actually, that's probably true in general 😛

He's okay. I liked Da Vinci Code obviously, but Angles and Demons was like kind of weird towards the end. Too implausible.

Blasphemy. Angels and Demons was great.

Now if you're talking about his jump from the helicopter, that was ridiculous and I'm glad they left that out of the movie.

that was exactly what I was talking about.

The real problem I have with his books is that every book has the same plot. Some random secret organization that no one has ever heard of before is plotting something devastating. He always has a hero and heroin, and there's always some romantic tension between them.

They're all good, interesting, and fun reads, but once you've read one Dan Brown book, you've read them all.

Anybody else a Dan Brown fan?

Yep. Haven't read the new book though.

Never saw the movie but loved the book. I was supposed to go with my fam but they canceled on me.

This is true, but I like them anyway.
