Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
flip, i have to say that you have an amazing way with words. i bet youre a pretty interesting person (says the random stranger on annonymous online forums)

are you xx or xy? just curious

Such a scientific way to ask that...lol

No, I actually love LA - one of my favorite places to visit - but I don't want to live there, or be there, for an extended period of time.

Louisiana, especially south Louisiana, is quite provincial. There are people in New Orleans who have never left the city limits - you may know people like that, too.

I know someone in admissions at LSU-S med. He said some of the south LA applicants who come interview had never been north of Baton Rouge, and worse than that, were some of the least traveled people they ever see...he said some of them walked around Shreveport as if they were on another planet.

I definitely know what you mean.

very cool. i speak 3 myself, but i would love to be fluent in more languages, especially because i love to travel.

where did you live when you were abroad?

Without being too specific, Asia...the other side of the world in more ways than one.

I am pretty paranoid about revealing too much on these forums.

Haha... don't worry, I don't think anyone knows who you are. Even if you gave us a country, I still don't think anyone would know.

I may rip off the mask some day, but not yet. Most likely would do it for only a few people here...and dw, you are on that short list, along with ksmi.

I am a very private person with a very low profile. Very. And I love keeping secrets...tell me a secret, and I will take it to my grave.

that's awkward. i feel like i was too transparent for a while, which is why i took my activities off of my mdapps. even more so, the dir. of admissions for the med school of my undergrad is active on sdn lol

aw, i'm so honored! 😳

Secrets are fun 🙂

But still, I think it's way too hard to bother trying to keep myself anonymous on here; anyone who knows me would immediately figure me out on here (the fact that I pretty much constantly wear a Spurs hat--no joke--might give it away 😛).

Mmmhmm. I think LA has the highest state percentage of people that stay their entire lives.

I'd like to think that I've seen enough of other places to want more. What do I have to look forward to living in New Orleans again? I've lived there for 18 years, so another 4 years and I'll probably end up stuck there for the rest of my life.

At my LSU interview, one adcom asked me how me and my family felt about me living in NOLA. I guess they must get that a lot from the non-NOLA (or a lot of rural) people.

haha. it's hard for me to tell how anonymous i am... i mean, i feel like i'm not anonymous at all. 'cause i know who i am. but it might seem different to others. god i need some sleep. :smack:

lol dont worry youre pretty anonymous 🙂

:smack: I knew I should have put my phone on silent before trying to sleep. Nap FAIL.

Oh that's awful. Luckily for me, I sleep like a log, so for the most part, my phone ringing or beeping doesn't interfere with my nap.

I'm not a big Star Wars fan. My SDN Moniker is a red herring.:meanie:

me too. i've been known to sleep through crazy drunken parties in my apartment (yes, i'm the loser that goes to bed while everyone else is partying). i've also been known to sleep through the occasional fire alarm 😱

It probably doesn't help when this is my ringtone:

Ah well. 20 minutes was good enough.

Yeah... mine is just the standard, boring ring... so that could explain it! But then again, I've been known to sleep through some crazy stuff.

I'm a bit of a weirdo and sleep with a giant box fan on high (all year round) simply for the noise as it drowns everything in my house out and is relaxing to me. I can sleep forever when I turn that on!

My old roommate used to do that! She couldn't sleep at all unless she had that fan, or as she called it "noise-maker," on.

Anyone seen this?

I never watch TV so I just happened to see it today. Hilarious!

i always sleep with my fan on!! I'm a really light sleeper so having the fan gives me a constant noise and drowns out anything else that would wake me up. Glad I have a buddy that does the same🙂

Fan Weirdos Unite!!! 👍

No one gonna do something crazy tonight?

nope, I'm house sitting for the week(it's a pretty sweet deal, the 12 and 14 year old are very self-sufficient so I'm getting paid a lot to watch tv, go online, and sleep here haha)

so someone got in to madison's mstp. i really hope they don't string me out too long. uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh. 🙁

Wow I had no idea so many other people slept with their fans on...my roommate thought I was crazy!

Also, I couldn't sleep the night before an interview once (unfortunately, a big fan doesn't fit in my carry-on), and I found this useful site that generates noise: http://simplynoise.com/ as a nice little replacement

I love you.

Brown/Red noise FTW!

Totally putting this on my laptop while in the hotel room on Thursday night.

Well, is it really something you commonly ask people? 😛

That's the first question i ask when i meet someone! hmm i wonder if that's why my 3 decisions so far have been waitlists?😛

Ha, I can see it now! 😀

Interviewer: "Well, I think that's about it; do you have any questions for me?"

jackson: "OK, well I've been dying to ask you, do most of the students at your school sleep with the fan on???"

ive gotten a lot of complaints because i sleep with a fan on and really loud music... its a really funny surprise for partners who spend the night hahaha

 Truly anonymous people don't even know who they are.

You sleep with loud music on? I have to have some noise to sleep (fan, computer hum, A/C, something), but I couldn't do loud music.

haha wow that seems like it would kind of be an issue if you didn't even know who you were. That would be VERY anonymous though!

I dont listen to anything anymore... i read a couple books on sleep and they said the best way to get the most efficient sleep is with complete silence

didn't you just say you listened to a fan and loud music?!

1. Really, loud music? No way... it has to be random noise for me; I tried sleeping to music for a little bit, but I always found I'd start following along with the music more than I'd be going to sleep.

2. You couldn't make any exception for when you had someone over?!

I dont listen to anything anymore... i read a couple books on sleep and they said the best way to get the most efficient sleep is with complete silence

Well that does you no good if you can't get to sleep in the first place... I can't if I don't have something going on in the background.

i'm disappointed ddub, you're supposed to be the unofficial tour guide of nyc! anyhow, i got up too late to tour around much anyway, slept for 10+ hours last night haha. central park was great, and mount sinai and columbia look friggin amazing. i hope i can get an interview there.

Apparently, Mount Sinai ranks their applicants via numbers. The admissions lady said she wasn't supposed to tell people this but I guess I convinced her with my friendly and awesome(and chinky) smile.
