Blocked FG was cool.
Most people go by the US News research rankings.
BTW, Luun, are you going to join our fantasy basketball league?
I was thinking about it, but I don't really follow games so... I'd be clueless and no fun to play against...unless you just wanna kick my team's ***

The more people the better. Also, it's pretty hard to go wrong if you let the computer draft for you. You've got until Tuesday to decide, and no worries if you don't want to. 👍
Ha that's what we're gonna do to ksmi, jackson, and the other girls 😛
Honestly, I don't think any of us are gonna be super-cutthroat here. It's just gonna be a little fun diversion. You should join, and even if you don't win, it should be fun 🙂 Only thing is that if I'm not mistaken, we HAVE to have an even number of teams, but with half a week before the draft I'm sure we could find one more.
BTW, changed my name today. Also looks like I'm currently playing Elmo first week.
lol, fine. Where do I join? I saw you guys talking about it before, but I wasn't paying too much attention. 🙄
Not a big loss, I agree with you, Downstate sucks. I just interviewed there and man are the facilities dilapidated. Nothing was good about it.
Well, their loss. I think both schools probably wondered if you would really go there, since you're likely to receive offers from top schools closer to your area.
thanks man but it wasnt really about top schools or facilities for me. i would really look for 2 things from medical school - the volume and range of patients i would be exposed to, and obviously the cost.
i thought that downstate was a complete match for my style. i understand that a lot of people care about facilities, research, ranking and what not, but thats just not me. and i felt like some of those institutions in the ghetto wouldn't mind having someone like me during clinical rotations. i have done ****load of shadowing of residents in philly and its really easy to see how some of them are not happy about the type of patients they get to see. they hate that some are non-compliant and they feel like they arent treating anyone. on top of that, they aren't at a "high-ranking" school, they live in a bad area blah blah blah everything sucks when you compare with others.
i have a lot of pride living in nyc to jersey to philly, and its a bit disappointing that they aren't showing me love cuz i find the patients to be fun and personable. i would gladly take a spot in the ghetto over someone that doesn't want to be there and i think it would benefit the patients a little bit to have someone who wouldn't be bitchy everyday.
i cant really complain though. im already in med school and hopefully by the end of MS1, all my research is published and **** and i could have at least 5 significant pubs. i would most likely take a year off after med to do relevant research. i also don't really care about the quality of teaching, curriculum and all that nonsense - i dont remember ever taking notes in middle school, high school, or college. i learn better by myself and as long as med schools are flexible (which most are), im cool. i get along with most people so i cant really judge student body during an interview day nor do i care to. so no matter where i end up its the same thing. just throw some money my way and i'm ****ing there - i just wished that i would be in a place that offered less downtime or boring ass patients.
ITA about the patient population. that's the population i work with in my job now and i LOVE it... in fact, i spend a crapload of time at king's county hospital, so i certainly hope downstate didn't put me on hold because they thought i wouldn't be a good fit.![]()
a little more transparency would be great. that goes for everything in life but i just dont feel like i want to feel like im playing games with med schools cuz that **** is pretty trivial.
well, since misery loves company, i was rejected by drexel today. unbelievable if you ask me. i am not dense. i am a normal person. im a bit older (not too old) and have a ton of life experiences, got along great with my interviewers, connected with students at the school, etc, etc, blah blah blah.
i have no idea what went wrong. its so frustrating because i have a suspicion that they thought my gpa was just too low, even though i have a million amazing post bacc units. i am so disappointed...and broke as hell.
honestly, thats what i talked about with my interviewer and we got along great about how it would be enjoyable to see the people in brooklyn (w/ the biggest immigrant population) and how its a state run hospital and all that. i might be more dissapointed because both my downstate and vandy interview went for an hour and a half, where as my UofL interview went for 20 min and i felt like i got to present myself much better at the first two as well as hold great conversations.
now interviews are rarely representative of admission decisions and all that - but its kinda... egh wack. i just missed my brothers 14th bday for an interview and didnt even have to time to buy him a gift. im not broke but ive spent a lot on these interviews and i am BY FAR living in the cheapest studio in philly and had to put my student loans on deferment.

qfmft. we are adults. treat us like them.
no clue what that stands for (ncwtsf)
but i have like 4 hours tomorrow to buy my brother a bday gift. he's turning 14. i might go the lame route and get him like a $100 or $200 visa cash card. i dont really know what to get him. weird age
true but cant he just download the e-book? i'm thinking of a fake id
if i had to judge facilities, university of minnesota hands down has the most beautiful buildings/lab spaces
those thing are determined by the cost of space, labor, time, etc though
so there can be no way that a NYC school could have expansive and expensive facilities
no clue what that stands for (ncwtsf)

i guess so, but hard copy would be funnier/cooler.
not sure about the fake...14? might be a little too young, haha.

Blue...your avatar is kinda creepy....
What's up all?
Lunn and now you. what's so creepy about it?
Fine I will change it.
Fine I will change it.
Fine I will change it.
I'm finally done with interviews!
And now I'm tired.
Anybody else almost done?
Don't change it because of us. I just felt the need to comment on it. 😳
Well, that is much more difficult to find anything "Avenue Q-esque" to say about it...
🙂
No. 🙁 But I'm thinking about withdrawing from my interviews after my Chicago one. The others don't seem to pull my interest.
