that's the funny part. i got invited over the phone cause i did an "in the area" thing. they must go back and send a regular email just to cover their bases.

I think it was because he sat out for feeling sick and the hot dog was his way to feel better. Apparently it worked for him.

I think if he just ate the hot dog w/o sitting out a series it wouldn't be an issue, just something funny.

I wish there was a good way to be him for Halloween. I could pull it off, but no one would know who I was. :laugh:
 
All my classrooms are freezing today. I feel like I should be wearing gloves and earmuffs. I mean, it's chilly outside, but it's definitely colder inside.

That's awesome! I'm running my first half-marathon in March! Have you ever heard of the "Crazy Marathon"? I just heard of it yesterday... Participants run a half marathon on Friday and then a full marathon the next day!

You may have missed that window of opportunity, however...in mid September, people were contacting them, and someone who successfully got an interview this way posted on SDN - you can contact either by phone or email, expressing interest in obtaining an interview - I sent an email, and I heard back within an hour with a note to "call and schedule" - the email I sent was along the lines of "just checking on the progress of my app, and letting you know that I am very interested in attending WF"...

I don't know if this will still work now, but you should try it anyway.

It seems like a lot of people get interviews that way. The girl who traveled with me to Wake for an interview got her invite on the phone as well. She said she called, and they told us they didn't even review her application because they thought she wasn't going there. Then she told them it's her top choice, and they told her to call back in 4 days, and when she did, they offered her an interview over the phone. I, OTOH, read SDN and called and asked for a status check facetiously and got an invite that way 😀

Lol, man, I dreamed of receiving interview evals from Wake in the mail. One of the interviewers gave me a 1/40 in the "Motivation" column, I was like WTF?

Yeah, the day that somebody posted they had gotten an interview this way, I wrote an email and I heard back within the hour.

Wake Forest is a different animal. I think it is kind of ****ed up the way they do the interview invites, but that is how they roll...so that is how I rolled with them.

Not sure I would attend if accepted. Supposed to hear something in a little over a week, and if it is a waitlist, I seriously don't think I will continue to play the game with letters, emails, and phone calls expressing my undying love, but for anyone really interested in Wake, that seems to be the way to go...

Yeah they seem like one of those "wtf?" type of schools, like you don't know what standards they really have for interview invites and acceptances.

During my interview they said their next meeting is on the 28th, so maybe we'll hear something later this week?

I interviewed mid October, and they told us we would hear something on Nov 4, so that is probably the same date you will hear something...

I liked the place, but I am not too interested in pursuing them...

I had a pretty good experience there for sure. They have a surprisingly good medical center, the ppl are really friendly, and you don't really have to share the hospitals with other schools so you have all the resources to yourself. Pretty cheap too given the 2nd year in-state tuition.

I told myself that too. I apparently lied.

I actually think SDN is more enjoyable with an acceptance. Without one, it made me feel terrible about myself all the time, but now I can just talk to people without worrying about it, haha.

I definitely fell in love with it. I want to see if anything else comes up at a couple of schools just in case, but I'm 99% sure I'm going there. I think my favorite part is that it's NOT cutthroat. The students actually help each other out, which to me, is how doctors should be :-D
 
So I have basically unsubscribed to every listserv I was once part of because everytime I get an email, I get momentarily hopeful! It drives me nuts!
