i mean, i can see how writing up "mock" grants can consume alot of time, and how this can be seen as time wasted if these mock grants arent actually being used for receiving actual funding.

i realize that. but its a waste of time when youve already had experience in undergrad helping your PI prepare grants and are now looking to make something of your work in medical school.

Yea, I suppose, I never had to write one so I have no idea how time consuming that can be. It seems like it can be good practice for ppl like me, except as that dude pointed out, they might be a tad too serious about it and make it more troublesome than necessary.

i called them after i read on sdn that calling them can get u an interview i would definitely recommend calling. the girl who interviewed with me at wake also had to call to get her interview. In fact, they told her that they had shelved her file away because they thought she wasn't interested. She told them it was her #1 choice, so they re-reviewed it or something and gave her an interview a few days later.

Wake is BIG on the interest thing, you really have to demonstrate it. The girl I talked about, for example, got in right after the interview as an OOS. The reason was because she was asked many difficult questions during the interview(like how would you treat this type of tumor, and the answer was very specific). So she went back home, read up some research articles, and basically wrote a literature review to send back to her interviewer, and she got in like the next day.

Eh, the post was a bit long and intense.

I didn't interview at CCLCM (nor wanted to), but none of the students with whom I spoke at Mayo shared any negatives about their clinical time. But I wouldn't blame anyone for having legitimate concerns: it's how we test where we want to go.

FYI, it's actually really helpful if you guys see flame wars going down or other stuff you think looks fishy for you to actually use the "report post" button: . im gonna guess after a final decision has been rendered. ive heard of a couple rare instances when even a rejection got turned into a waitlist via LOI.

Hey Tat, I know I'm not ksmi but.... I'm looking through my old folder now and it looks like all my interviews were in the morning. So you have 2 interviews between 9:30 and 12:00 with faculty members, and then at 12 is your student interview which is during lunch. Then, after that, there's a campus tour at 1, so yeah, I'd say 2:30 should definitely be the end of the day.

Yeah, what Luun said. The tour is after lunch and you get out after that. All the interviews are in the morning.

You've got to make sure you've got players that help you in all of the categories; if you have a lot of players that only really score, there are a bunch of other categories that you're not giving yourself a chance on. Balance is key.

Hmmm... the strategy is to try to win as many categories as possible... so to keep from losing, see which categories your team is lacking and try to trade for those categories.

Or you could see which categories you are strong at and load up on those.

And you're only 4-5, which isn't bad!

Pre-interview generally isn't very helpful, especially at the top schools. After a post-interview hold/waitlist is usually the best time. But there are exceptions, for example: Wake, as discussed.

Yea, but if it were say Harvard you wouldn't be unwilling. I can see why they're doing it tho. Winston-Salem has nothing, not even a large undergrad population, so basically the only people you can possibly hang out with are your classmates. So they want to make sure that you really, really want to live there and attend there.

Oh that too. You don't have to just play the same people all week. You can, however, set up your roster for each night in advance at the beginning of the week so you don't have to check it every night.

you go to the my team tab and drag the players that have a game scheduled out of your bench. get as many players who are playing that night off your bench

It's bad. I'm up 7-1... I'm feeling pretty good about our bet 😛

So, you get a point for each category you win. For example, if you have more rebounds over the whole week, you get a point; if you have more assists over the whole week, you get a point, and so on. So between you and your opponent each week, you're fighting for 9 points. Over the whole season, the points get totaled up, and the top 4 teams in each division make the playoffs.
