I need a pick-me-up guys. Just got deferred at UPenn. Haven't heard a peep since complete in August from my top choice prior to the start of the cycle (NU) and PritzkerGuy just said "hold status" for an interview at UChicago means chances are "not good."

I'm very fortunate and grateful for my acceptances so far, but I'm just feeling down about NU and UChicago in particular right now. Sent update letters to both couple weeks ago and have a Pritzker alumn who's my professor writing a special LOR saying I'd be a good fit particularly at Pritzker. Anything else I can do? Feeling crappy. 🙁
 
Sorry to hear that BB. Is the UPenn decision post interview?

Hang in there. That's sweet that you can get that special LOR. If I remember while I was still applying to Pritzker, they are really receptive to updates and appreciate you showing a lot of interest, so continue to do that 👍

Don't get down on yourself, you already have multiple acceptances and it seems NU hasn't let you down yet, and UChicago could still work out.

I didn't get a call from Vandy today, so I know where you're at. 🙁
 
Yeah, I'm sure they will come BB, just be patient, I guess. Just curious, what school is NU? Northwestern?

Well if you're doing your best then there's no need to worry, you've already been accepted! And don't worry, birds are highly underrepresented in medicine, I'm sure they'll give you a shot 😉

:xf: I know. I'm very very grateful for those acceptances. Just getting discouraged that I can't break into that next "tier" because the ones I was fortunate enough to have interviews at WLed me. Gah. Thanks man, just need to keep on keepin' on. 😳

NU = Northwestern.

And birds are definitely URM, but I didn't check the box out of principle, jk lol


Thanks, guys. Just have to keep hoping. Think it's cool/good to call in for a status update or do you think it doesn't make a difference?

Hey, did you include any significant updates in your letter? I'm considering sending one to Ohio State, but I don't really have anything that's that awesome...just a few more volunteer hours.

Nothing crazy significant. New jobs, things I've learned from them and then talked briefly about my continued specific interest. etc.

This Dallas-GB game is pretty rancid. At least the Cowboys should lose.

I was so productive today! The only left to make it more productive is study, but I'm not sure if I want to do that yet. :laugh: Or at all.

Yeah... really sloppy by Dallas. They're just not a good, solid, playoff caliber team... I hate watching them on TV.

I would say that's better than post-interview. Just trying to keep things in perspective.

I really shouldn't be this sad that I didn't get Vandy called today. I guess it's because I wasn't expecting others to get called until Tuesday, so it threw me off and I wasn't prepared for disappointment yet. I wanted to wait until Tuesday for sadness.
 
I was complete at Case since late September and not single piece of news. What was your timeline, stone? Did they email you just now or something?

I was complete late September also. I didn't get an email; instead, I checked the status page, and the news was there. Apparently, they put me on hold on Friday.

No, I didn't get any news, I'm just saying that I was in the correct timeframe for the calls. With Vandy, no news generally isn't good news. Plus, I just don't see myself as being good enough to get in anyway. The class is so small and acceptance rates so low after interview.

My interview wasn't spectacular, but that doesn't bother me as much as it used to, because apparently a lot of people have crappy interviews there.

haha it's ok, i like the colts but they're not my favorite team. although my favorite team hasn't been looking so hot as of late either🙁 (giants)
