This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
i'm still considering it. and don't use my real name!!

Hahahaha.

This month has sucked. Tons of family health issues. Rejection CITY.

Bring on Thanksgiving break.

what whaaaaat numba 3!

though new york is 25. i'm less proud of that.

EDIT: this is referring to the healthiest states thingy. just realized i didn't quote it.

This will explode in a few weeks.

I can see myself getting annoyed of it fast though so I'm trying to avoid it, but it's hard!

Yeah, there was a sneak peak at the music video for this posted last night online. I loved it! Though, Beyonce was looking an awful lot like Rihanna in one particular shot...things that don't surprise me :/

What's HPSP and how does it work? K thanks.

Basically, a branch of the armed forces pays for your medical school education (plus like a signing bonus and a little stipend) and when you're done with med school, you repay with a year of service for every year they paid for you. I hear mixed reviews, and apparently it complicates residency and you get limited exposure to clinical cases. Basically, you serve as a basic doc for our troops, either locally or abroad.

cool looks nice!!

i was, but after reading all the negative opinions about it on here i think i'll probably just go into debt instead. the military medicine forum has all these disgruntled people in it that wish they hadn't joined and it kinda scared me away from doing it.

Yeah, I started reading all those posts a few months ago and so I started to lean towards the health corps prgm (similar, but instead of military, you go into under-served areas in America). I hear mixed reviews as well. Anyone hear anything good about this prgm?

Yeah - The whole Fame Monster leaked yesterday. Definitely not a disappointment. Every track is a potential hit single.

Off to go make some homemade calzones for dinner. Mmmmmmm

Woot!

Dead last in the health list baby!

Job security at its finest.

😳

it seems like a really good program, but i've heard you should be 100% sure you want to go into a primary care specialty before you sign up. so i think i'll wait until i choose a specialty then if i do primary care i'll do the loan repayment program they have.

My thoughts exactly! I have some idea, but not a solid one, of what interests me in medicine. It could be primary care, or it could not. I don't want to pigeon-hole myself quite yet...

really? I'm in a little elmo mood.

haha interesting. my 12-year-old (that i nanny for, no i don't have a 12-year-old kid😛) told me today that one of her friends went all "emu" and started wearing all black lol

emu? like that ostrich-like creature?

Owl City sounds EXTREMELY similar to The Postal Service. Both musically and lyrically. I would bet that they were a huge inspiration to him.

I'm so looking forward to my interview on Monday, a nice little escape back to the good old days of pre-decision.

By virtue of skipping/cancelled classes, I get all of next week off!

I think I'm going crazy. I had a dream last night that my 'C. elegans' that I am working with in my research lab (and their interaction with pathogenic bacteria isolated from CF patients) ate too much bacteria and grew to the size of snakes (they are normally extremely small) and they started taking over the lab and attacking me.

:lame:

VCU.

I'm only disappointed because if I would have known in advance about having the week off, I would have spent more time there and maybe driven for a big road trip thingy.

good luck! let me know if you have any questions i can assist you with🙂

 I'm not an expert dream interpreter, however this is a sign that someone desperately needs a vacation. And asap!

I'm not an expert on it, but if you're for sure on primary care I think it's a pretty good deal.

i didn't offer to help you blunderiffic. i bet the viewers will put you on their waitlist until they see if something better comes along, then they might accept you in the spring after some of their other prospective apartments drop out of the running😛

i need to get the apartment out by january 1st!

you might go to penn state, its only like 40 min away, its a good deal jack o' lantern, you should take it from me

Thanks for the PM, Jackson!

I can't believe there has literally been college basketball on all day.

As in, the last game last night finished at 3am and a new one started at 3am and there have been continuous games since this morning. 😱

is that the military

i'm down to serve, but i wanna do it for like a semester, or maybe as an away rotation. we shall see.

I thought about doing HPSP but I'm uncertain. I'm going to wait and see how financial aide packages go in the spring. Plus, I hear it varies by branch, and I was thinking the Navy (I've heard good things about their program and placements). I still have mixed feelings on it. Was also considering the public health corps. Still debating...

What's HPSP and how does it work? K thanks.

if i did military i would do air force

cool looks nice!!

I feel like there are just as many negative opinions about medicine in general as there are about hpsp, though. I think the people who like it are less likely to post. I need to do more research, but I've heard people say that the Army has the most residency choices. I'm still not quite clear on how residency works, but I think it's basically: 1. Most people do a military internship year. 2. Many people do a military residency, unless there isn't one available in your specialty.

I've heard people say that if you wouldn't do it without the scholarship, don't do it. I definitely wouldn't do it if they didn't offer the scholarship, but I don't think I wouldn't like it. I dunno, pretty big decision.

Can't always stay on top.

I was actually watching that game, but then proceded to play Sporcle for a while and missed the ending. So I was surprised when I found out they lost. There wasn't anybody at the game, though - pretty empty.
