Tatastrophy news for Sunday Nov 22nd:

I believe this morning I had the misfortune of tutoring the real MexicanDr....except he is Puerto Rican...I guess the Mexican thing is only wishful thinking lol

And Tulane is offering me a scholarship. Not ginormous but hey I didn't expect a penny. So yay!
 
Been quiet in here over the weekend... My wallet is hurtin from the festivities.

And yay! Tulane gave me a scholarship too. It's good to see a school handling the monies earlier on. It's nice to know these things.
 
Yeah, Tulane is pretty good at giving out scholarships. They tend to give out a lot of smaller ones (up to half-tuition) vs giving out a few larger ones.

In my letter they mentioned that full scholarships were available but that they'd be given out later. Idk how many or when. But I suppose it's possible to get one.

I've been and been rejected by both. :laugh:

I liked UVA way better than OSU. I agree that the curriculum could be a concern, if anything just because it's new. And OSU is cheaper with the in-state after a year thing.

I would still go to UVA. But I don't have either option. 🙁
 
I hate cranial nerves and origin/insertion/actions. This quiz could destroy me tomorrow.

Are you talking about the "In the event you should receive other scholarship support, which pays your full tuition it will be necessary...."?

Did it say full scholarships or other scholarships that can pay your full tuition? Just wondering because I believe they send the same letter for all scholarship offers.

I'm sure there are a few possible larger scholarships... but i remember the representative that talked to my organization made a comment about how she wished there were larger scholarships to hand out.

If it is the same statement-you interpreted it the way my mommy did...which I think is wrong. What I think they are saying is if you do the military type thing or the serve in under-served area thing (I forget what it's called..something about national blah and blah) which pay for your tuition-they will have to take the scholarship offer back.

I could be completely wrong though....in which case...big bucks no whammies!

We've had this discussion, and we figured out the exact school. But I refuse to look it up again just because THE UL sounds so ridiculous.

at least I don't have to travel too far...just a 10 minute FREE shuttle ride lol I love things that are free after the exorbitant amount of money I've spent this interview season!

That's definitely one of the more interesting points of the process. Everyone can agree on good schools, but at a point where schools are seemingly equal in outsiders' eyes, intangibles come into play once you actually visit and personal preferences are established.

It's just a shame we can't all necessarily attend the school that fits with us the best.

Yeah, agreed. I can't even really point to why I like OSU better than UVa. Or maybe I don't? :laugh: Who knows. I'm glad I have a few months to make this decision, but in reality it's probably going to come down to cost.

I can point to several reasons why I'd lean that way, but most of them have to do with geography and politics.:laugh:

sorry🙁 i didn't know they were snail mailing rejections already...i'm glad i haven't gotten one yet, maybe i'm on some kind of hold rather than rejected. eh that's probably just wishful thinking though, i don't think the suny's want me haha.

it happens in a lot of southern schools, basically the girls wear dresses and the guys wear collared shirts and khakis. Ole Miss, Georgia, Bama, they all do it more or less. They'll let you in and everything, but that's just the way everybody dresses.
