Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's like 42 (wind chill) here. I win. My pet alligator is frozen. 🙁

Well if we're playing the wind chill game 🙄, it's... 43 here. Crap.

Do you really have a pet alligator?

Drinking water makes you feel more full though. Do it.

Sigh. True. Though I've been drinking lots of Coke Zero to stay awake. That's pretty much carbonated water plus caffeine. I should drink more water, though.

Umm, of course she does. Everyone in Louisiana has at least one pet alligator. Duh.

🙄

I don't know!? My friend had a leopard gecko in her room all 4 years, which is big. Theoretically I could see someone having a tiny alligator

... yes, OK, I need sleep/I'm an idiot.

Coke Zero takes less effort. Plus I still haven't gotten acclimated to that taste yet, though my resistance is waning... I think I've become immune to caffeine in Coke Zero-sized doses.

How does Coke Zero take less effort? Besides, you'd probably save money by just buying a coffee. I'm sure the caffeine to dollar ratio is much higher in coffee than Coke Zero.

I don't have to put the coffee in the coffee machine and wait for it to brew?

(Yes, I'm lazy. And yes, you're almost certainly correct. I need to get on this coffee bandwagon; I'm just afraid once I start I won't be able to stop =/)

:looks around: Nope, the people I'm renting from didn't leave me a coffee maker anyways. Seeing as I'm on a diet and all, Starbucks doesn't seem like a good option.

You could always drink coffee black. Then you wouldn't have to worry about any extra fat or calories. Also, you would save money due to the afore mentioned caffeine to dollar ratio. I think it's a total win-win situation. Coke Zero has nothing to stand against coffee.

Yeah, that happened to me.

Assuming, again, I could brew coffee here. Which I can't without a coffee maker. I'm relatively confident I gain no monetary advantage by ordering black coffee from Starbucks.

Maybe I should break down and just buy a coffee machine that I can take with me when I move next year.

diet Mountain Dew >>>> everything.

Dude, coffee makers are cheap. Making coffee is cheap, even if you buy Starbucks bags of coffee (which is expensive compared to other stuff).

What?? You don't like the bold flavor of just plain coffee?? Mmmm... I love the smell and the taste.

I like the smell, not the taste. Plus, I don't like hot drinks.

Yeah, see right now, I still usually down a Coke Zero on the way to class, but I can get by without it. I don't want to get to be one of those guys that can't function at all without coffee.

I can totally function without coffee - for me coffee is almost like a placebo and I like it like that.

Oh I never drink coffee hot. Always iced. Either an iced black brewed coffee or an iced black Americano.

Spurs, I heard Tim Duncan likes diet Mountain Dew.

Dude, buy a low-end espresso machine. It's the most efficient way to extract caffeine and therefore the most cost-effective way to make coffee. It also gives you a much higher taste/smell ratio of the coffee.

I bought one for $80.

I like to begin the day with 4 shots of espresso, which would set me back $18.20 per week ($2.60 each) at Starbucks.

But for $7, I get 1/2 lb. of beans, and then pay another $1 for distilled water (minerals in tap water will ruin your espresso pump within weeks).

That comes out to about $8 per week, or about $0.29 per shot of espresso. The machine has paid for itself multiple times over.

I like your way of thinking guyski.

I should qualify my claim about how tasty espresso is.

Espresso can be so delicious, almost like dark, dark chocolate if it's done right.

Or it can taste like old, sour motor oil if a n00b makes it.

On the other hand, it's almost impossible to screw up French press coffee, but it's so inefficient that it's not really cost-effective.

I don't like french presses I like to press a button and then wander around until coffee is ready. Or set a timer, that way coffee is ready when I wake up.

Coffee smells and tastes terrible. The end.

Yeah, I'll occasionally get the Starbucks cold stuff.

It seems like that's my job on this thread, though. 😛

Spurs, I think you've lost this argument. 🙂

Silence both of you, or I'll ban you both. And ksmi won't stop me cuz she hates coffee too.

Spurs, I heard Tim Duncan likes diet Mountain Dew.

Dude, people can't get him to say what he thinks about basketball. You think I'm gonna believe you heard something about what he thinks about anything else? 😛

Coffee smells and tastes terrible. The end.

Now that you mention it, it was really as a kid that I loved the smell, but I don't really care for it now. So I might actually agree with you for once.

you know, my HST panel today asked every single applicant that they interviewed whether or not they liked coffee. it's obviously a make-or-break issue.

Not you too!

hey not nice! if it makes you feel any better, i'm not specifically prejudiced against coffee. i don't like anytthing but water. no juice or soda or anything🙂

On my first day of orientation at undergrad, the dean said, "During your years here, you'll need to always be aware of the 3 C's. The calendar, the clock, and caffeine."
