Yeah, I used to live down in that area (on the peninsula, not southside)--the whole area floods rather consistently due to the high-powered storms that periodically come through (that I miss :cry🙂. I remember driving by this one parking lot that was under water 50% of the time...
 
So I need all of your advice. I'd like to send out a Letter of Interest/Update Letter to a few schools; however, I'm not sure if it would be appropriate to combine the 2 (LOI + UL). And if it is okay to somehow merge the 2, how would you recommend doing so? Do you have advice on the structure of it? Thanks 🙂!

Wow. I thought every girl knew about it. When I got one for the misses, other girls were coming up to me and saying how great of a boyfriend I was. It was crazy. And the thing definitely lives up to the hype for women. We're talkin a matter of seconds. It's absurd.

this is a no-brainer: merge them. i didn't even think of them as things that needed to be merged. update the school on your activities while telling them how great a fit you would be for the school based on said activities, and how much you'd love to be able to interview there.

Perfectly fine to combine the two. Mine went something like this:

I am writing this letter to update my application on file as well as reiterate my interest in _______.

Then first I did the update and towards the end of the letter, wrote why the school was a great fit for me.

I think my liver will at some point just give up and run away from my body. Poor thing.

I'm eating hummus and pita as a hangover cure. It's actually quite wonderful.

I'm also watching Spongebob Squarepants.

Anyone have any good ideas for what I can do for holiday gift bags for coworkers? I'm thinking baked goods but I want them to be tasty/pretty.

i sent one to 3 schools early last week. only 3 more I care about this late in the game.

Yeah, send them both combined. That reminds me, I need to start working on mine. I only have my GPA this semester to update them with, is that enough? But these are post-interview, so maybe anything helps.

try dating a "sexpert" (dartmouth had these things. they take classes so they can talk to undergrads who need help/advice but want a peer to talk to...i'm sure other schools had something similar). never talked about it so much in the open before.

Drug and Alcohol Peer Advisors (DAPA)
Eating Disorders Peer Advisors (EDPA)
Sexual Abuse Peer Advisors (SAPA)
Sexperts (Sexual Health Peer Programming)

and they're intense certifications for all of them. we're into the whole 'taking care of each other' thing.

See if I knew there were colleges granting sexpert certificaton I would have totally applied to all of them.

we also had some town lady who was giving courses to women on how to give fellatio. it was a hit course too, every guy was trying to convince their girlfriends to take it.

i feel like i'm one of the few people going to med school single. i feel like the ratio is something like 70/30 in-a-relationship to not. maybe even 80/20. could be a rough couple years.

Yeah, I had no idea that so many people got married early until I went to med school. It's weird, but as I allways say: That's why god made undergrad campuses.

You're definitely not alone. Even in this thread there's a bunch of people who are single. I'm single as of 1.5 months ago and couldn't be happier that I'll be starting med school without a S.O. [mainly because I'll be moving 3000 miles away from school and I think med school will be hectic enough without having to deal with a long distance relationship, though I know of people who are in one and in med school and it can definitely work]

hell yeah. we had "sexhibition" every year-- a big sex toy fair, basically. lots of info about safe sex, consent, etc... and plenty of sex toys.
 
I'm going to med school single. I have no regrets about it, but I'm also a cynical bastard who probably couldn't stop himself from making fun of his own girlfriend if the opportunity arose 😛.

single here too! i hope there's at least some other unattached people at school-it's always akward to be the only single person hanging out with a group of couples.

Nah. Even if there are a lot of people in relationships, those relationships won't last like super long. Sure it'll be more people than when we started college, but I think a good amount of people will be single.
