The morning usually is my procrastination time, but I'm rather busy today since it's my last day of anatomy stuff.

Ok, so I'll still keep my fingers crossed! :xf: I was an MSTP applicant but got rejected 🙁 but I wrote them saying I'd still absolutely matriculate for the university program.

i did my 5 miles and didn't die, hooray! i only stopped to walk .25 miles twice-after 3 and 4.5 miles. it's the most i've ever run yayyy🙂 i feel really good now except the ligaments behind my knees are a little achy.


in sad news, the stupid snow in jersey/pa is preventing my friend from driving up to visit from va🙁🙁 i was really looking forward to her coming. at least i have plans to see her april 10th weekend so thats not too terribly far from now, oh well.

UCLA said March 15 at the latest...no idea on Hopkins and the others. I think applying to med school is as much an exercise in cardiac function/adrenaline rushes as anything else, lol. I know there are many, many people out there right now in my exact position. Thanks for the positive energy and empathy Ok2Panic!

I have a random question....I know a lot of people want to stay anonymous on here. I don't really understand why, though. We're all going to be colleagues someday and it would be fun to see someone at a conference and say, "hey, we met on SDN when we were applying!" I have been advising a few freshmen on this site, sharing my AMCAS with people and offering interview tips to others who want it. I would love to put faces with your names!!

Anyway, if there is no generic "Class of 2014" group that is not school-specific on FB, should we start one? At the very least, I want to friend a few of the people I talk to all the time on here...so please look me up using my email address [email protected].

Look forward to meeting you guys- there seems to be a fun group of motivated intelligent people on SDN, a rare find these days :luck:

Ugh, I get this a lot, and it amazes me every time. Having spent a summer in NYC, I know what you mean by "northeastern sensibilities". I really don't have any ulterior motives. I derive pleasure from inspiring people and networking with other ambitious people. I was born and raised in Vegas- if you've ever been here (or maybe even just from what you've seen on TV), it's not the intellectual capital of America, to put it lightly. I see the internet as a resource to meet the people I would otherwise never encounter in my day-to-day life. It just so happens that my day job has me sitting at a computer all day, so I have the time to sit on here and respond to people when they ask for help.

The short answer is that I did not get to where I am alone. A LOT of people helped me along the way and went out of their way to do things that most strangers would not do for other people. Maybe this is because they felt sorry for me as I have no parents, or maybe they sensed my passion and ambition to pursue this career. In any case, helping people on here is just one easy way of paying it forward, I think. I hope it doesn't come across as creepy or "overly kind", and if it does, I am sorry 😎
 
hi violin! the only reason i try to stay semi-anonymous is because i heard that some adcoms come on here from time to time (not that i think they'd find me saying anything bad, i guess it's just to be safe). after the app cycle's over i don't think i'll care as much and will put my info back on mdapps and everything. i agree that it's cool to think that we're all going to be future collegues someday🙂

we actually do have a facebook group for this thread-once you post 100 times in here you're invited to join. so keep hanging out with us and i'm sure that'll be soon!🙂

good luck hearing back from schools! i should be hearing back from downstate in the next couple weeks so i'll join in on you, panic, and lstone's finger crossing!

it was a joke, friend. the people here in the 2014 thread are mostly set though, it's us plebs in the 2015 thread that are in dire need of assistance.

and there is nothing unintellectual about blackjack. or poker. i am offended.

Just checked out craigslist for housing in NOLA...there is a place that I could legit walk to school from for like 480 bucks a month-wow.
 
Hey 20-14... The mmi was awesome today. Had a lot of fun with it. Don't want to get my hopes up too much as I'm being WL but I looooved UC today!

My house is a 3 min walk from the med campus for 250/ month. Ahhh if I could stay that would be fantastic!
