I'll be in it for a while this year seeing as I picked all chalk for the final 4. My biggest sweet 16 seed is a 6 (Tennessee) and I have all 1 v 2 regional finals.

Yeah, I agree with you, I was just responding to your question about why there seemed to be a discrepancy between what physicians have been saying about reform and why the AMA supports it.

Although I thought I read some poll of physicians saying that many of them support having a public option with a private option, so maybe it's just that the people on SDN are very vocal and not all that representative of the population at large :meanie:

ya poor siena, they were doing so well in the first half. at least they're making a little bit of a comeback. the school is literally 5 mins from my house, so it'd be cool to see them pull of a big upset.

zona-that's exactly why i don't bet on/care too much about my bracket. if i don't really care about either school, i automatically root for the team with the lower seed. that doesn't make for the best bracket though😛

edit: are they making a comeback!?!

Oh I'm absolutely biased against President Bush.

I just didn't think it made any sense to call President Obama "lazy", when compared to his predecessor, he's anything but.

I should add that I'm also very disappointed with Obama's performance thus far. And I made phone calls and donated money to his campaign.

Dihydrogen Monoxide and Cancer

Cancer research has made significant advances in the detection and treatment of many forms of cancers. With each new advancement, the role DHMO plays in the cause of cancer is likely to be better understood

So I have a question for all you. If you have a choice between writing a letter to the associate dean of a school versus just sending one generally to the adcom, which would you do? Also, if you are writing to the dean of the school, do you adress him/her as Dean ____ or Dr. ____?

I just had a thought. Wanted to share it with you guys. (warm fuzzies the lot of ya).

Do you think it would be easier to be at the top of your respective class if say you went to a traditionally lower ranked (more importantly, traditionally less competitive applicant pool [dont bs me!! we all read MSAR]) school?

Silly thought, not actually considering this for "the where do I go." But it IS curious right?

1. MCATs are proven to be the biggest predicator of success in medical school :meanie::meanie:

2. Less competitive school = lower average on the MCAT

3. You are a bad ***** mamajama and are above that schools average so just maybe you (is 1 is correct) more likely to be in the top of your class. ((yeah, you have to keep working hard etc etc and I in NO WAY think its this simple, but it is interesting))
 
Meh. In my opinion, med school is med school. Once you hit that point, I feel like it's mostly equalized - especially once you hit step1 and whatnot.

well, maybe, but honestly, probably the biggest factor in determing your class rank is your choice to gunner it up or not.

Yeah I think when you hit USMLE sure. But I bet you medical school admin's do compare the bell curve from their MCATs to their class rank. Just a hunch. Anyway, back to the shananigans

so my cornell friend (we will call him andy barnard) get furious and goes "wow, i wouldn't say that i go to cornell for nothing. it is a school that is #th ranked university in the world. last time i checked temple wasn't in the top 400. you basically get what you paid for. sure i pay $40k a year but we have countless # of faculty that have won nobel and pulitzer (just to name a few awards) prizes. our alumni is accomplished and we go on to have great careers and meaningful lives. i don't think people can say the same about your school"

then he does some research and comes back with entry level salaries of graduates. he goes " a cornell grad makes 60k his first year out on average, temple - a safety school - grad makes 44k. case closed - i win"

now, **** is getting intense. to make things better, the guy from cornell didn't get into a grad school for a program that he was applying to and he has already graduated and doesn't have a job. of course, people know this and its only gonna get heated from here.
