**** my car shakea a lot when idling, anybody got any ideas?

i backed into a pile of stones this morning, but idk how that screwed the car. it wasnt a tall pile so i didnt see it in my rear view mirror, but my car was stopped. i gave it a slight bit of gas, but nothing more. no visble damages except some scraping on the muffler

god damned landlord put a friggin pile of rocks 15 or so feet behind my car where i usually back out. it was raining so i just dashed to my car and didnt see it. the pile wasnt tall enough to be seen in the rear view mirror either.

Just stopping by and wanted to poin out the "false documents" thread in WAMC. That won't just keep you out of med school, it could put you in prison!

Seriously. And I very rarely, if ever, play the "bad doctor" card, but jeeeeez how does anyone ever think of doing something like that...

dude, how could you use the "bad doctor" card? some physician you'll make...

ok but seriously i'm really failing to think of any situation where i would feel like "hey! i should falsify a death certificate! that's the logical solution to this dilemma!"

i guess i'm either very sensical or not very imaginative

It's a "who does that?" moment lol

well, i first noticed that they look kinda fishy, but i couldnt catch them in the act. so i just remebered their names when they turned in their scantrons and mentioned it to my PI. neither of us thought much of it, until we looked at their scores and they had the same exact questions wrong. classic rookie mistake. so now my PI is requesting a meeting with them and hes gonna check their other test scores.

Caught a couple guys doing this once. There was a multiple-choicey matching section. The answers were all numbers. Wingus incorrectly wrote 13. The one and three were a little close together. Dingus wrote B

Disclaimer: The most mechanicish things I've ever done are brake, rotor, and master cylinder replacement. And we only did the master cylinder ourselves because it was a cheap, used part, and the car was a dying POS anyway 🙂

Anyway, how many total miles, and does it only shake while in drive?

lol that's good 😆

my car is shaking in just about everything, but less in neutral. park, reverse, or drive all have it shaking quite a bit. it has about 80k miles or so on it.

too much research, are there toll roads and bad traffic in minneapolis?

No toll roads. Traffic is pretty reasonable, in my opinion. Some areas have worse traffic than others, but unless you're planning on living in the S and SW suburbs, you should be alright. The best option (as in probably faster than driving and parking) is to live either near the St. Paul campus of the U of MN or live near the 3 busline. Free shuttles run between the St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses frequently, and the 3 runs every 5 minutes during peak travel times. There are also areas near the Como neighborhood where you can park for free and hop on the 3. Both the shuttles and actual bus service will drop you off within a minute's walk from the medical school and probably your research lab. You probably don't want to park at the University, though...it's pretty expensive.

When is the last time you replaced the spark plugs and wires and the fuel filter?

Could definitely be spark plugs or fuel filter. Might as well check the battery cables. If they're nice and corroded, clean them off with a steel brush/steel wool.

I had a car that was kind of bouncy while in idle, but it never became a problem. If you can't figure it out without paying someone, and it ain't broke, well...

so I wouldn't need/benefit from a 4WD during the winters?

You might. You'd be perfectly fine in a compact car without ABS, too. The snow is usually cleared pretty quickly. And with the exception of the occasional 20 day <0 degrees F stretch, salt and sand help keep the roads ice free. It's not as though you'd be driving through Canadian tundra or Alaskan North Slope.

Edit: Then again, you'd be getting that nice MSTP money, right? So you could roll in an Escalade, go to the club, and make it "rain" in said club, no?

Getting my car washed, it's so dirty after 600 mi of driving and chillin at the Chicago airport 🙁

Thanks all, I'm gonna see if it goes away the next few days, if not then I'll get someone to take a look at it.

hahah, my uncles manage a few underground garages in nyc and ppl don't drive much so they usually just sell them off for really cheap. i'll see what they have.

i think i'll just take the 94 camry. it has just under 100k miles and works pretty well. bought it for $800

Nice. A 94 Camry will do you just fine.

They used to have no sales tax when I was a kid.

Shame that's no longer the case.

that's pretty crazy. i heard they get a lot of Japanese traffic for shopping.

Are there any other states besides Delaware with no sales tax?

reminded me of jla and tats

gotta see it in better quality

yea pretty good real estate market down there, huge population + job (healthcare) growth

Maybe I'll move to Alaska. It's kind of like a cold Texas (oil= low taxes). I wouldn't have to learn Spanish either. Not a very big population though.
