Once we're in med school, we should come back and randomly post Awkward Turtle in horrible threads and in the 2015 thread. That way our presence is still felt if the thread is moving a lot slower.
 
I'm going to have trouble waking up for my 10am final on Wednesday if I don't fix my sleep schedule soon. Right now I'm on the schedule of bedtime at 3:30am and waking up at 12pm.
 
anyone else notice the suns sweep, i just wanted to point that out for the sake of spurs😛
 
I still debate daily whether or not I'm going to try for 2015 or 2016 (hopefully not both! :laugh:). I already have amcas filled out and my PS pretty much done.

any real reason to wait? I know for me i thought about doing this since my application had some "weaknesses" but in the end im glad i didnt. I wanted to start asap and it worked out ok.

I'm taking the MCAT in mid July. And I still need to secure some strong LORs. Some recent interactions at work confirmed that I cannot rely on my supervisor(s) to write the type of LOR that is needed. and obviously my GPA will be a lil higher next may. As it stands, other than clinical experience, I would say I am a mediocre non trad applicant.

hmm late app 🙁. For me it came down to money. If i was applying late, I would wait another year because i wouldnt want to spend like 4k two years in a row. I could only afford to apply once. If you can afford it or have the fee waiver, id still apply this coming cycle honestly. You may think you are "mediocre" but who knows.

UT congrats dude. I know this was already talked about but its still crazy every single one of us got in somewhere. I still cant really believe it. I have to read other threads to remember oh yah getting in is hard everyone in here is just crazy 🙂

dude drizz is everyone in your family a doc, i think you have posted like your brother, cousins, parents, etc 😱. Its odd sometimes to me since no one in my family even graduated college lol. They dont really know what im doing
 
drizz (or others) what are your thoughts on getting an MPH and its usefulness. I know its pretty big at UW madison i remmeber. On my interview day its something they really seemed to push and want like 50% of their students to do? I think something like 25% end up doing it there? I would assume for surgery its not as useful as say for IM? But really why would anyone want to spend another year doing this? Is it that useful? Ive been kinda interested in it since i know i HATE surgery and will likely end up in some sort of IM specialty. But another year sounds painful.

I mean does it make you more employable or help in some way like that with getting a better residency/fellowship? Or do people just like extra letters on the white coat😉
