Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
it has to be something ridiculous. i would have just went to court (like most dudes in this situation). but to settle it this early for the sake of silence must mean something crazy. he's probly bangin osama

Dc traffic sucks.

dc is the absolute worst minus a break down on holland tunnel. im glad to be in a city with no real traffic now. driving 1 hour to go 1 mile in philly was terrible (2-3 hours when they had a public transit strike)

JJ, bb, or oakland guy, I'm ready to pull the trigger on those HIDs, but I'm torn between 6000Ks and 5000Ks. I like the look of the BMW/Lexus headlights but I can't tell if they are just white light, or slightly (slightly!) blue. Any recommendations either way, priority being not getting pulled over, lol

I heard LA is the worst no matter what's going on. "Sprawling suburb" is what I heard it's like.

Nah la isn't so bad, if you know what roads to take. Here I have absolutely no choice what roads I have to take.

thats more than the GDP of 14 countries

5000k IMO. They are the brightest and the most legal looking. 6000k will look more like the typical European car headlight that you're thinking of.

One thing to double check/understand is that you may not have high beams depending on your vehicle's lighting setup (1 bulb or 2). You don't need them with the HIDs (or if you have a 2 bulb setup, your low beams will be much brighter than your high beams ), but just be sure that your state (or anywhere you are moving) doesn't check highbeams during smog checks or anything like that.

If you get them, try not to directly handle the bulbs. Finger oil isn't great for them; wearing latex gloves might not be a bad idea when installing them.

Thanks a bunch! I'm definitely going with 5000K then. Also, I don't think the high beams will be an issue because I'm just getting the H4 Hi/Lo. Is it worth it for the extra $20 to get high beams?

Yeah, LA #1 Worst traffic followed by DC....one reason I kinda don't want to have my car.

Maybe. I think they just have little shutters that redirect the light. Cool in theory, but more moving parts = greater chance of breaking.

Also, there are two different types in terms of power ratings, correct? I'd definitely go with the lower ones to protect your wiring.

Definitely going with 35w (lower) because that's what I heard as well. May just put in the $20 for high beams.

On a more general note, I'm looking into purchasing my books for next year... what do you guys think in terms of just purchasing all of the recommendeds, wait to purchase anything with the risk of not getting them in time or for the best price, or purchase additional texts in addition to the recommendeds? 😕 What to do!

WOW. RJ opting out seemed more unlikely than the #1 picks

I'm not buying anything until I talk to some MS2's.

Most books aren't worth getting IMO.

do NOT buy all the books. Most schools recommend and 'require' SO many that you would never have time to read them all. Go go to class for a few days/ a week and look around at friends/libraries to see what works best for you. Some people will swear on the textbook, some people will swear on Netters, some people (myself included) think BRS is the best thing you could ever buy, ever. then you can just get what you want. And often times MS2s are selling them for cheaper.

I would recommend getting useful books that you'll use for step, Costanzo, Moore's, Robbins, Goljan, FA, etc.

Just got back from my vacation. It was fun.

...and I am now engaged! 😱 😀

The only other time I've used this was when stoney got in, but I think this occasion definitely calls for it again...

congratulations.gif

No wonder you've been MIA on SDN...AHHHHH!

I feel like Grad Plus loans require a credit check.

Yea grad plus does require a credit check - even though it's from the government.

Yea like everyone's said here - it seems like the advise is to just wait till you get there to figure out a. the bare minimum books that you need and b. the MS2 are always selling the text books to the MS1s (it's not like the human body changes very much year to year)

Late to the congrats party - but congratulations dude!

wow, congrats met. was this totally planned?

Yeah it was planned, I just didn't want to let y'all know in the extremely rare scenario she would browse this thread.

The trip was the right time/place and I managed to get the money just in time to have everything ready to go - all in the course of 3 days. 😳

Alright I have to go to bed now. Work tomorrow morning and my life will suck once again. Stupid Twilight crap.

Once again, thanks to everyone for all the congratulations. I'm pretty excited about the whole thing. 👍
