Good luck!

This thread is moving to fast to keep up with!

I'm just going to get back to studying for a while. Brb MCAT (Yes, I know it's late).

Alright... so in April I was part of a group for the March of Dimes March for Babies walk. The group as a whole raised over $3000 (I think there were 12 to 15 of us). Think it's worth mentioning?

Well I'm not sure how much my opinion counts but I would say definitely mention it if you played any sort of a leadership role with regards to the fundraising?

I was not the leader of the group, but I did raise a chunk of the funds. I believe most of us asked for personal pledges but since we were all part of the group all of our donations were added together to the group pledge.

Quick question to anyone. I was going over my application, now that it's verified, and noticed that my other's occupation somehow got changed. It has my mother's occupation listed as an MD/DO in residency, when in reality, she has been a practicing Ob/Gyn for the last 20+ years. Is this a minor detail that schools won't pay attention to?

I tried calling AMCAS and the woman I spoke to said there is no way to change it. She did not sound very friendly either...

Yes!

Yes!

Okay, our honeymoon hotel had a topless pool and a topless beach. And the way those places ALWAYS work is that the ones that are topless are the ones that should NOT be. This one woman will be etched into my brain for the rest of my life, sadly.

Key features:
  • Middle-aged. I'd say 50+, but hard to tell because...
  • Leathery over-tanned skin. She looks like a damn saddle.
  • Bleached-blonde hair.
  • I never saw her wearing ANYTHING more than a hot pink bikini.
  • ... bottom.
  • Always, ALWAYS topless. And her tatas were saaaaaggy, but the real kicker was.
  • Both nipples were pierced.
:barf:

ETA: Donatella Versace here is pretty close, only I think this woman was a little younger, and no implants, just big, saggy boobs with pierced nips. http://images.dailyradar.com/media/..._large/2008/12/26/donatella_versace_beach.jpg

If you had any interest in oncology, you should have given her some of your contact info and told her to call you in a few years.

haha no. i sent him an email today, which was admittedly cheesy but i just wanted to see if he was alive.

"Dr. so and so,
I hope you had a good holiday weekend and I am looking forward to hearing your decision about the blah blah blah. I would be thrilled to be a part of your team."

He responds within in 5 minutes with this:

"I hope you had a good weekend too."

...hahaha... WHAT!? i wouldve preferred no response.

lmao!!! how awkward....still hoping for the best though!:xf:

best snack i've had in a while... mini nilla wafers with peanut butter.

Just finished watching The Lovely Bones. I've read it twice so I know the story, but am I crying like a little girl? Indeed I am.

SO much harder to take this story after becoming a parent. I want to hurl.

Hypothetical question!

Let's all pretend your me, and you can only apply to 5 schools. Who gets your app?

Clarification! I don't mean me that you have my stats. I just mean that you're you, but you can only apply to 5 schools.

Waiting to get stitches out of my foot... Got tired of waiting last time and did it myself... That really irritated the nurses haha! I think I'll wait this time b/c last time the cut split open afterward. Oh well, chicks dig scars right?

Yeah!!! That movie made me dad cry, so I steered clear of it. I understand it's a beautiful story in a way, but I just can't make myself read the book/watch the movie.

if i had geekchick stats my 5 would be:

Duke, Penn, Jefferson, Mt. Sinai, and Miami

scars are cool for sure. what'd you do to your foot?

Harvard, Penn, Duke, UCSF, and Chicago

This is in a world where I don't need safeties, of course.

D'oh! I don't mean me that you have my stats. I just mean that you can only apply to 5 schools. My husband just got a new job that he's rocking and we can't really move because he's going to be supporting us. So in that respect, that's what I mean!

Lemme edit to clarify.

If I ha to choose five I'd go ucla, ucsf, duke, mayo, u Chicago

The book is worse. The first chapter is really hard to get through. They really toned down the brutality of Suzie's murder in the movie, and they don't mention the fact that she's raped at all.

nothing exciting this time... Last summer I was surfing and the fin on my board sliced my medial ankle down to the tibial artery... saw the blood and decided to get the f___ out of the water before the sharks show up. I got an ace wrap from the crappy life guard who was like "dude, your ankle is bleeding like crazy bro..." duh! then I wraped my ankle with one hand and held my surfboard in the other... drove to the urgent care and got stitched up... they were laughing at all the sand in my wrap... well I had to walk along the beach to my car with a bloody bandage on my foot haha

anyway... they saw a pigmented lesion on my foot they wanted to biopsy. So I had it removed so I don't get cancer before I start med school 😀

end story

Edit: they saw the spot on my foot when they stitched me up last time... I just put it off b/c I didn't want to get more stitches during the summer.

haha the first story is much cooler. but, congrats on the preventative measures.

I'm going to my last spring lecture in 40 minutes... our school has this weird tradition of clapping for the prof at the end of the last class (before finals week)... I don't know if I'll clap for this one... he kinda sucked.

he made the reproductive system boring

that is weird as hell. i know by the final week of semester the professor was lucky if i was still participating.

yeah I always thought it was a lame tradition... I'm glad every school doesn't do this.

Clapping? How strange. But if you make the reproductive system boring you probably deserve silence.

Also, it's always weird when I hear people talking about ending their semester now. At this point, we've been off for a month and summer session is starting.
