Class of 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yay!!! Congrats!!!
And....as rHinO1 has said....don't look at it again.

Ever.

hahahha i know i dont want to see a stupid mistake or something i left out

a drink sounds good right now...too bad i have a 6am alarm

I scored a LOR today from the medical director of my facility. This was also unexpected....lots of unexpected things today (why my day was so odd). I didn't even ask for it...and sorta crazy how it came up. She called me in to praise me on some work, and to caution me friend to friend (whoa, we're "friends"?!!) some advice. When I confided in her that I was planning on going to grad school she said she would write me an "excellent LOR". This could turn out to be one of my strongest and most influential letters. This is a smart smart lady.

The bad part...this doctor inspired me to be a doctor. I wrote about her in my PS. I really wanted to wait and get an acceptance and then sit down with this doctor and tell her how much she meant to me and surprise her with my acceptance. Thats obviously all blown now. I mean, she doesn't know that I wrote about her in my PS....but still.

It was like the best worst meeting every. 🙂🙁 = :lame:

See above, and I'm sure you did everything perfect 🙂 ... or at least good enough haha

Sounds like a good meeting to me. If you tell her all that now your letter will go from awesome to stellar 🙂

why is that bad? she can now write you a letter AND be surprised you got in!

ugh.... I'm studying for finals right now. I can't wait until next week is over

Hey guys, I just have a few questions on the AAMC application- any help would be great!

1. Do we actually have to add in every single course we took under "Course Work"?
Why can't they just look at our transcript?

2. What in the application has anything to do with sending our transcript, and how to do we do it?

3. How long shsould "Experience Description" be under Work/Activities?

4. I thought we have to have our letter of recommendation by the secondaries...so can we leave that entire section blank for now?

Thanks again guys! I don't know what I'd do without StudentDoc!

A group of rhinos is called a crash.

I don't know why I felt the need to share that.

 I like it!

kind of funny too, b/c I volunteer at a place called CRASH

Haha why do you guys keep saying this year's group seems small? I didn't follow the other years' threads but did they have a lot more people at this time?

I just got verified today (yay!) and it does seem like there are a lot of repetitive questions out there lately. I would think that SDN people would submit earlier and earlier each year. After reading all those "JUNE 1ST" posts, I'm almost surprised not everyone's done with it by now, as ridiculous as that is

Someone said days ago that they have a "good feeling" about this cycle. What do you guys think? In my spurts of fun superstition, I love the number 5 and I think being class of 2015 makes us awesome!

1.) Yes you have to put every single course. Why... b/c they tell you to.
2.) You have to send your transcripts for them to verify... this is under where you put your undergrad school.
3.) It should be long enough to explain the experience. I used bullet points and some were longer than others.
4.) Yes, you can add your letters later.

This thread was/is small but it will get bigger as the cycle goes... mostly we said that b/c 2014 is at over 1,000,000?? posts or something. We will get there too.

I think 2015 is awesome b/c this is my cycle 😛 haha

You know I got mad 😍 for my peeps in the East... but tonight it was west coast runnin' this!:laugh::laugh:

WESTCOASTSEAL.jpg

As always, have a great day 🙂

Shout outs to Baller, Hoody, J4Yoga, Flowrate and the rest of the west side connected.

westside connection baby.

haha 👍
Just FYI, amcas will add interfolio letters within a day of submission (even the one letter I snail mailed to amcas was up with a quickness).

I agree, there are like 10 threads all asking the same question . They just don't get it...

Glad to hear it! My advisor is taking his sweet-ass time. The composite letter is done. You have an Interfolio account, just upload it already!

Well quit it, because everyone has their "thing" that grosses them out....mine is vomit.

Unless you're a pregnant lady, then I can handle it.

Please don't tell me you're a pregnant lady.
Pregnant ladies gross you out? Or vomiting pregnant ladies?

What the hell is wrong with pregnant ladies?

1. Yes. It's stupid. They're going to verify it anyway and possibly change it but we still have to do it first.

2. Verifying the grades that we input.

3. Long enough to thorougly describe the experience, but skip the flowerly dialogue and BS. The advice most often give on SDN is to be succinct and use bullet points.

4. Like others said, you can upload letters later.

study published in some IM journal says that the deadliest month for Patients is July as that's the month that most medical mistakes are made....do to the new grads. lol. not sure about the validity, just what the lady on CNN said.

EDIT: Good morning Momma Bear. One hour and 55 minutes till Im outta here. at zero eight hundred I hit forty eight hours with four hours of sleep. I could stretch that to about 53 if I go to class today. I's a tired bear. rawr.

...says the chick with a near perfect app.

Its over!! I'm done with work!!! to class or not to class, that is the question.

Didn't get the coat....but I did end up picking up this fine piece of art... 👍👍

Ooh that's pretty. I don't know how to snowboard, but even if I did, I don't know if I'd actually want to USE that. Just hang it up somewhere.

Near-perfect? Hardly! My cGPA is average, and I don't have a whole lot of volunteering/community service or research.

haha, i was responding to jolt and brooklyn regarding the kobe - chris rock video and some how i posted it in here instead of 2014.

Also according to "The House of God"

One day I'm going to read that.

Guess what I did last night? Threw out some MCAT review books I had. It felt a-freakin-mazing. I still have some EK books that I'm wondering if I can sell for like half price or something. I only did the first 3 or so tests in my EK101 book, and less than half of my EK 1001 chem book.

I want to sell some of my books too but I'm so ehh I don't know if I'm
going to need those bad boys again if I get rejected at every school

MCAT review book bonfire next summer?

BB, I think your ECs are great and your stats are solid! But why are you applying to Penn State but no other schools in PA?

I saw some of the scripps spelling B today and I couldn't even pronounce some of those words haha!

I respect them for their hard work, but when every 3rd kid there wants to be a neurosurgeon, I unfortunately have to wonder if they really enjoy doing this, or if it is simply parental pressure.

seriously? oh god. Im never gonna get into neurosurg. :scared:

I only say never ever about ophtho, but currently, I cannot picture myself doing neurosurg at ALL.

don't worry, i think your personality will make you a far better neurosurgeon than some of them, lol

also, who put all the extra exclamation marks on the title? nice!

Haha good point! Some smart smart kids though. I think they should have a spelling B for adults... B/c that would be hilarious 🙂

Do eyes freak you out?

Extremely. The thought of doing surgery on them especially. :barf:

The last time I had to dissect a cow's eye, and the humor spilled out. Oh my God. I started to dry heave.

Haha, i'm not real savvy on opthamology but I think if you're doing eye surgery and the humor spills out then you did it wrong 🙂

I bet 50% of opthamology is saying "look at the light" and "you have pretty eyes, is that a wedding ring?" haha j/k
