Class of 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I know a lot of guys who wouldn't stand having their girlfriend/wife be more successful than them. I don't know how to explain it...

or desperation on her part.

that is not directed to anyone in this thread.

👍 I know a lot of guys who seem to have a problem with smart women. I still don't get it, why would you want to talk down to someone all the time?

I sometimes think it is genetic instinct to protect and be strong....and if you're strong too, they often feel like "What can I provide for you?"

I have actually had the above discussion several times, and twice it has ended the relationship. I do appreciate the guys who have at least been man enough to admit it, because it is a hard thing to do.

Some men want to talk down to the woman they're with, a lot of others want you to be successful but not so successful that you clearly school them. And still others don't care either way.

Some of it is maturity level and will change as they experience more relationships and some of it is just how they are and the type of relationship dynamic they want.

Either way....I score hot young guys😉

like everyone else here, i also want a smart, educated, future wife, no doubt in that.

but i also can try to understand the viewpoint of other guys. I don't think it's so much them wanting someone to talk down to, but more because of outdated notions of what is good family life.

I mean, having a mom and dad who are both high profile neurosurgeons with busy careers won't leave much time for the kids, right? That is one argument, i guess

Wow. That's pretty straight forward. Thanks! 👍

For funsies..

1. favorite sport?

football, basketball (college is best, but I'll watch pro), tennis, hockey. I enjoy watching most sports except stuff like ultimate fighting and bowling.

3. favorite athlete?

Nadal (he just destroyed everyone in the French Open and it was pretty badass). Brandon Roy.

2. world cup favorite?

Spain will probably win, but I'll be rooting for the US.

good choices.

my favorite athlete at the moment is probaby Kevin Durant. favorite sports figure is Coach K. B-Roy is the man though.

Spain is my pick too. Torres is a baller.

Yeah, I think that is where the disconnect is; a lot of times even if men want a smart educated wife, they still want a WIFE. It's hard, because we carry children and so the raising of them kind of by default is handed to us, and when someone needs to sacrifice a career, it is usually us.

If I were a guy who wanted kids, I may feel the same way.

For sure. It's nothing personal, and since they know it, they stay away from me, and everyone is happy🙂

anyhow, most of the guys on here pass the 1/2 + 7 test if you are 28 or younger 😉

probably to an embarrassing degree, but I love Portland. I also try to follow UO alumni in their pro careers (even though most end up not doing so hot).

nahh BROY is a baller, he just had a few injury probs this year and the team is ehh...i think his weakness lies in his confidence and he needs to work on demanding more shots (he can easily avg 27 ppg, he has the skill).

Yeah it's tricky because you have women being successful and having careers, but hundreds of years of tradition and gender roles that still significantly impact people's expectations of their partners. If both are breadwinners, who's responsible for domestic tasks? It's the "second shift" for women more times than not. Being a "househusband" doesn't seem to be catching on, aside from "Househusbands of Hollywood" (which is a ridiculous reality show).

:laugh::laugh::laugh: Both of you🙂

Baller has seen pictures of me and can attest to my old lady status😉

haha if i can be honest, you looked just as young as me

....so i guess the yoga works....still, there's no way your older than i think you are

I agree. The injuries in general KILLED us this year.

Oh Kevin Durant. We could have had him, but instead we got Greg Oden. Clearly that worked out well.

well, as much as our society is at fault, i think women themselves have a desire to be involved in raising their children to some degree.

Many professional women married to stay-at-home dads often report feeling like they are missing something from their lives, thus resulting the 21st century mom - a career woman + amazing mom.

it's a pretty complex issue

second shift seems common. i dont have a problem doing domestic things. i enjoy cooking and i cant stand a dirty kitchen. i'm great with kids when they arent crying haha.

LOL dont worry, the clippers have had worse luck than portland can ever have

2014 has a facebook group that they started i'm pretty sure. we could do something similar to unite everyone on facebook.

I HATE facebook...mine is deactivated at least until after the med school cycle. I reactivated it for baller for about 48 hours but it is down again.

oden is probably actually 45 and that is why he cant stay healthy

I know one physician who has a househusband. When their kids grew up, he went back to work a minimum wage job in retail. It's definitely an interesting role reversal that I don't see very often.

damn baller...how did you get her to show you her pics?

Your username is well deserved

let me just say she is a beautiful woman, any guy is lucky to have her 🙂
