Weird....I got my MCAT scores almost 2 months ago, and it coincided directly with me adding the school to my MDapps. They didn't even BCC which is LAME....I could see all of the email addresses.

:laugh: Didn't even try to hide the fact that you're not special. I definitely received a letter from a college with someone else's name on it once (the envelope was addressed to me, or I would've sent it back).

youll get a lot of those coming up i dont think its anything to do with md apps. Actually even after your accepted and about to start med school you will likely still get them 😛

sometimes its a nice way to organize dates and such if you dont want to use an excel sheet. Its def helpful to know when you got a 2ndary/when you sent it in/when you interviewed etc etc. I think most people do it for the reason flow said😛
 
true. i guess it helps other people too who are curious about avg stats that get in.

That's why I do it. I know they don't mean much, but I look at them out of curiosity and figure I'd pass it on. Especially since I don't feel qualified to directly offer people advice.

That is why I do it too. Notice that I haven't linked to mine.....so it can't be the first reason🙂

This is not popular opinion here, and I hesitate to say it, but on most days, I think I can pull off a miracle.....an academic hat trick, if you will. I think that sheer force of will is going to get me into medical school despite the numbers. And if it does....I want the evidence up there so that other people can see it and have faith that they can beat the so-called odds spouted on SDN and elsewhere.
 
My best friend made me super paranoid yesterday that adcoms are patrolling SDN, reading all of my posts, can tell exactly who I am, and will not admit me because of my screen name.

cougs - no worries.....adcoms are far too busy and there are too many applicants to be that paranoid. furthermore, they can always find something in your app to reject you on before they resort to SDN posts. Besides, you come across as a pretty stand up girl, errr, woman. :laugh:👍

adcoms do read sdn but no reason to be paranoid 🙂. Think of all the people on here like bannie who are complete tools but still accepted and i think he went to like harvard or washu haha...The last thing any of them care about is what you do on sdn/facebook.

trust me, even if adcoms are trolling the SDN regularly, there are a lot of people in front of you in the must-reject-because-of-SDN line based on their posts.

Hey guys, I now 'search' and simply reading can answer some of these questions, but my favorite sports team is in a huge funk and I just got shingles...so please help me out!

1. AP classes on AAMC application- I can't select 'taken in high school' and 'advanced placement' at the same time...should I just leave out my high school AP classes?

2. Would anyone consider babysitting a part-time job?

3. I want to send AAMC and AACOM my transcript online. I don't want to print out the request form and hand it in or w/e that crap is. On my schools site, there is a way to sent my official transcript if I just put in the address. What is the AAMC and AACOM address to put in?

Again, I know the answers may be really straight forward- but c'mon...I'm sick and have herpes- gimme a break!

THANK YOU, both of you. That was exactly what I thought. You would pretty much have to go back and read every post I made and even then, without stats which I never post on here, it would be pretty damn difficult to figure out who I am. And if you did, I would like to think that I don't come off so bad🙂

Random comment of the day: Why does Costco insist on only selling previously frozen scallops? WTF? They could move them fast enough; they could sell fresh ones. YOU CANNOT SEAR A PREVIOUSLY FROZEN SCALLOP.

I just had an awesome workout, and despite the scallops, I'm in a good mood. So I will take pity.

1.) If they are AP classes, AND they are reflected on your college transcripts (which they damn well better be) then select AP. If not, then you won't get credit for them as AP classes to my understanding. But I would double check, because I am the wrong person to ask about high school stuff.

2.) If you got paid and it took up your time, yes. I would say "child care provider" if it took up a significant amount of your time and list the hours. File it under "Part Time Jobs" and not in a category by itself

3.) You should be able to look that up on their respective websites. I may be nice, but I ain't that nice.

I had a dream last night that I was at a MD school interview and it was super janky and she was just asking me to talk about each of my activities on my AMCAS but I had padded my app and couldn't remember what I said for each entry (not true IRL, but scary in the dream!). Then they're like "oh btw you were supposed to give us 4 forms of ID at the beginning of this interview." And I was like wtf then I realized that in my wallet I should have 7 forms of ID. Haha.

I don't think so. They just get watery when you freeze them. Also, when you buy them at costco they are already thawed, so I haven't been able to experiment. So annoying.

This is why the Top Chefs always shop at Whole Foods🙂


Edit: Did FlowRate just say "janky"? Damn.

No...but i actually love the taste of soymilk so I'm not in real hurry to change. I've been drinking it for 11 years now. I like the unsweetened plain stuff. Trader Joe's has a good one.

I've always been a fan of dairy, but I LOVE almond milk. Especially chocolate almond milk. Yum 🙂

1.) I don't know, and regardless to what you select amcas will fix it.

2.) Part time job? Maybe if you did it every week on a regular basis, then I would consider it part time work. If you did it every week (and not for a family member) and you got paid then I would report it as part time employment. I guess if you did it less frequently than that, and you have nothing else to put in that spot... then maybe I would still put it down.

3.) Print out the transcript request form!! The address is on there. I also requested my transcripts online and entered the address, and they all arrived with no problems.

I was supposed to work all day today and my boss FINALLY got around to telling me that I will not be working. Sheesh. Way to waste a whole day. I am going to get back into bed and read trashy novels🙂

Thank goodness I'm going to Disneyland tomorrow so the weekend isn't a total bust.

Also......Toy Story 3 was AMAZING. I went with 4 other girls and we were all crying at the end.

hahaha you can start your own med school with credentials like that...

man i just got back from this political party support dinner, and I must say politicians are kinda entertaining, at least more so than they are useful. The whole thing consisted of "thank you to person X for doing Y and person Z for doing W, insert witty joke about opposing parties, good luck to person A in election B" repeat 500 times.

anyway,
im about to go see splice with so me friends, i'll let u guys know if its any good!

cougarMD my favorite part is probably the cafeteria scene or the golf course one hahahahaha <3

Per activity? I don't know...I guess maybe 10 minutes is right. I had to sift through old resumes. Also I prepped an example "Work and Activities" list about 5 months ago so I kind of had the framework there. I used bullet points on the final instead of descriptions so I had to re-write those.




Off topic: Anyone buy a bed recently? I think it is time for a new mattress. Recommendations?🙂
