haha thanks 🙂 they have kahlua brushed on top of them and then there's a bunch more in the frosting. Maybe I should become a donor so I can change my screenname to something cupcake-related 😛
 
<-- just finished volunteering at an inner-city clinic (right in time to write my diversity secondary essays 😛 j/k). I loved it. The poor, insurance-less people are ridiculously sweet and nice! Nicest people ever. I really loved it, can't wait to go help there even more.

The biggest problem was that there is no continuity. For instance, so many of them had done some sort of manual labor, from a woman I saw who worked in a fast-food kitchen to a man who did yardwork for a living. Personally, I am privileged and lazy and so I rarely do manual labor and I have really long, dextrous, pianist fingers. I found it impossible to tell the difference between people who had big hands with sausage-like fingers as a baseline and people who simply had swollen hands. It got to be a big problem since these patients come in from the surrounding area and are seen by volunteer doctors. If they had insurance, they could be seen by the same doctor every time and have some continuity...the doctor would know what their baseline was because they would have seen them before. It really sucks sometimes. We try and make sure we go back and volunteer again during the same patient's follow-up appointments, but that quickly becomes impossible to do for all of them. : ( Poorly-controlled diabetes was another big problem I saw a lot of today, for some of the same reasons.

P.S. currently I live the in the middle of "coke" territory, but I was born on the west coast and will forever call it by it's true name, soda.

Sodaaaaaaaaa! Coke is a brand and Pop is such a little-kid word

My plans are to try out the best foods each city I interview at has to offer. I'm using Man vs. Food as my guide of where to eat. Hopefully I'll get a chance to eat:

Philly Cheesesteaks in Philadelphia
NY style Pizza in New York
Deep Dish Pizza in Chicago

Ummm.....you guys have any other recommendations in terms of food?

ZOMG, I LOVE Man vs. Food....it always blows my mind hole when ppl I know have eaten at the establishments presented on the show. It's almost like knowing a celebrity. 😀

San Diego - Fish Tacos; or a bacon cheeseburger from Hodads 👍

San Francisco - Traditional SF sourdough bread bowl full of Clam Chowder, from fisherman's wharf. Good restaurant (for breakfast): people's cafe, in haight-ashbury

And FTR, you can get an awesome cheesesteak at just about any pizza-ish fast food place, or a food cart in the city. You do NOT have to wait in line at Pat's or Geno's. Also, I like fried onions and mushrooms in mine.

Damn, clam chowder sounds good; however, there's only one SF school, and it's a little hard to get an interview at. Here's to clam chowder :xf::xf:.

I LOVE Philly cheesesteak. I haven't had authentic I'm sure but if I get to go to Philly I'm pretty sure it's what I'll eat for every meal.

Anyone visiting Portland should check out food carts. There are a ton now so you'll have to do some research (there's a website dedicated to them), but it's some of the best, most authentic food and the variety is insane. Also try some microbrews of course 😉

Haha, it's good to see that I am not the only person that wants interviews so I can go visit new cities. I am totally gonna do the Philly cheesesteak thing if I get a philly interview 🙂

I went to pats when i interviewed at drexel and while i love cheesestake, i wasnt all that impressed. Thats supposed to be like the best in the city right? I mean dont get me wrong it was realllllly good its just that ive had similar things in cali. I was expecting it to be something amazing that ive never had before since im always told they are the best there.

Yeah, see, I don't even think I've ever had a cheesesteak from Pat's or Geno's. I don't get the hype. I absolutely LOVE the ones from the pizza place near us, though.
