Looked through it, felt like it was a pretty damn good essay after I cleaned up one sentence =\. Sometimes I feel like I need to lie on these essays, but I've resisted the urge the whole time; I told them how I cope with things and I feel like they're healthy ways of coping. I appreciate your concern tho (non-sarcastically, for clarification)

DUDE, you need to watch a few more of your favorite shows. I am just not interested in talking about what I eat or don't, about my need to be entertained or not, about how bored I am, etc, etc, etc.

Plus I do not owe you an explanation either,....stick to your bull**** and keep me out of it. I have not asked you a thing. Deal?

so then why would you be interested in where people are getting interviews if you dont care about anything else they have to say? what's the point

That's fine and dandy, but conversely, you understand how asking people where they were interviewed, denied, or accepted, etc, without saying anything else may rub people the wrong way, right?

Oookkkk, now I am concerned. You see, I am interested about the whole medical application process, about where we all stand, about which schools are giving interviews or not, about which schools are sending secondaries or not.... That helps me know what to expect and contrary to what you have said of me, I have shared here and in multiple threads what is going on with my application, which unfortunately is not much because my LORs have not been sent out yet.

Now, I respect everyone's needs to talk about their daily lives with a bunch of anonymous internet ghosts and I have never criticized anyone for doing that, no matter how trivial and superficial I have thought it was. But, I don't have that need, and I do not know why you had to go out of your way and "sum up" the troops to harass me.

That is the point. I am here because this is SDN, not facebook, nor myspace nor another social network.

But, let's put it behind us and move on.

there are school specific threads that fit your very needs.

think of this thread as a lunch table. we've all been eating lunch together for a while and if you don't like the small talk then don't sit at the same table. additionally, don't expect people to give you personal information about their application cycle when you don't have anything to contribute.

No, I do not understand that. If I come up here to say... I got an interview!!!!!! How does that help anyone? What kind of helpful information am I providing or sharing that may be of interest to my fellow applicants?

It almost seems that I need the gratification from a bunch of strangers to say... Oh great!!! Congrats !!! ...which is pathetic IMHO, but fine, I am not even criticizing that. Now for someone to intentionally attack me for just asking what I thought was a genuine and innocent question, well that is just not cool.

I think most of us here prefer a thread where we can share what's going on in our lives (not exclusively where we stand with applications) and be supportive of each other. We have random conversations about food and neighbors and east coast/west coast, but it's all in fun. This is one of the few threads that has managed for the most part to stay away from over-competitiveness and rudeness prevalent in some other threads. Feel free to share your point of view and opinions, we just ask you do it respectfully, because we like our thread the way it is.

Edit: We say congrats and get excited when people get interviews because we're all in this process together and know how long and difficult it is. Even though we're technically "strangers" I guess, many have been posting here for a while through various stages of the application process, so we've gotten to know each other quite well. It's not about getting gratification, it's about sharing positive (and negative) things with people who understand what they mean. And that's why this thread is awesome 😍

Listen, I do not have anything against you either, but this is not high school where you tell others not to sit at your lunch table. If I do not want to join in the trivial conversation I do not have to, and if i ask a question that everyone sitting at the table does not feel comfortable answering, a polite "...i want to keep my privacy.." is enough. But in either case, I am sitting in this table, LMAO.

BTW, I really find that talking trivia is not very "contributing" either, so you should stop saying that.

I'm not saying attacking anyone in the thread is cool. What I'm saying is that, while you may be curious, and want information about the application process, there's mdapplicants for that and the school specific threads. This thread is similar to the off-topic forum. People are just socializing and having fun, bonding over the hopeful class of 2015 experience. So when someone comes in here to say they have an interview invite, they're just celebrating with the people they've been conversing with. Since people have been socializing with others here, people may act adversely when someone they haven't spoken to before on here asks them 'where'.

There's many places to learn about the various parts of medical education on the site, which you obviously know since you're not new. This thread though tends to be more free-forum and shooting the bull. There are plenty of other on-topic and all business threads with information.

I would like for you to show me a post where I have been disrespectful to anyone in this thread. My response was triggered because someone jumped out and felt the need to harass me and talk to others about me just like if I was not even here and totally uncalled for.

Well, thank you for clarifying this. Apparently, I missed the section where the purpose and intention of this thread was defined by some. I assumed that it was a thread for anyone who was going to be part of the "Class of 2015", to talk or ask about whatever, and I guess by assuming I really made an ass of myself.

Funny you mentioned the mdapplicants site. If I recall correctly, this whole thing started when I ruffled some feathers by asking someone why he had an MDAPPLICANTS ID in his profile when it was actually not set up..or deleted. I was curious about that. What was the idea? To have people intentionally click on the link to be led to an ERROR PAGE?...All very benign, but I guess we never know about other people sensitivities...

Anyway... we are spending too much energy on this... so let's just move on, don't you think?

First of all, let me say that I have nothing against you... although I think you are missing the point of this thread entirely.

I have no problem telling you were I was offered an interview at, but you will have to PM me. If you look at the post count for this thread, I have contributed a lot. I've shared a substantial amount of personal information, and at times been sarcastic/joked around. It is very easy for an adcom member (especially a med student) to look at threads like this, and I do not want someone getting the wrong impression about me. I work hard, and I want them to judge me solely on my app/interview... not on something they read on an internet forum.

btw, my personal story is rather unusual (I'm a non-trad), so that factors into my reasons for keeping my application process low-key.

Like Cliff said, this is the one chill thread on SDN. I have researched med-schools, and planned my path through this process to the last detail. Now I'm just trying to deal with the stress as best as possible, and this thread helps with that. If you feel the need to discuss all of this pre-med stuff further, every minute of every day, then their are a ton of threads for you to do that on SDN, but lets keep this one thread chill 👍.

Well, you really have been ignoring me...haven't you??!! Just the other nite, I was saying how much I loved chocolate and what a great ice cream I had just had.. As far as exercising, I am a great swimmer... and play water polo. The beach is great these days and the water almost feel like a bath!!!:whistle:

I went to the beach only once this summer, and the water was so cold. I'm in serious need of some sunshine and warm water right now.

Then you definitely need to head down to Florida! I was quiet surprised how warm the water really is on both South Florida and the west coast!. Sunsets are amazing and I have seen my good share of dolphins just off the beach..!!🙂

Easy. I'm cool as cucumber right now. I'm not being critical. Just saying that this thread, and other class years of it, are mainly social threads. There's various other application specific about the different details of this process.

But, c'mon.. if someone's mdapps link says "sup dawg" you should be expecting a 404.

Oh man, I wish. I'll have to settle for VA instead. But yeah, research isn't so good for getting sunshine. Sometimes I go the whole day without really looking outside. Blech.
