I think that right now all we can do is wait and see.

Maybe some of the 2014ers like Elijah, Dingy, or Metallica can provide some info on how their interview offers were distributed accross their cycle.

FWIW I was 33/3.9 and was complete between July-Aug. at most schools. Majority of my interviews came in September/October then I had one in January off of a "hold" list.

UMich is weird w/auto-invites.
Mayo is really quick (deadly quick if you know what I mean).
Loyola + UIC + RF drag their feet.
I got several OOS public interviews early on (OSU, Carver, IU, Toledo) so I can't speak to them front-loading their IS apps.

UPitt + Case were super fast.
Rush waited until April to reject me.

Send updates/extra LORs to schools you haven't heard from in a couple months. Let them know you've aced your courses, had research progress, and worked in a free clinic, and most of all, that you would gladly attend an interview if you were afforded the opportunity.

Thank you, that is really helpful. If I get more offers in September and October then I will be stoked. I think that was exactly what I was hoping to hear 👍.

If you are a decent candidate it will likely work out. You dont have to get the 1st wave of interview invites to get accepted remember that. Also schools often sorta cherry pick the "best" apps first. I had pathetic mcat and gpa stats but if they are interested they will get around to you.

Thanks, if I come anywhere near 10 interviews I will be on cloud 9.

Right now, it looks like I'll be up there early the day before my interview. My gf is driving up with me. Unfortunately, I have to leave pretty soon after the interview b/c I need to work at 5 am the next morning. When I get my plans finalized I'll PM you.

Also, my biggest "problem" is deciding which tie to wear haha. I made the mistake of buying two that I like. Although, out of all of the possible "problems" in the world this is at the bottom haha.

Then i heard of people getting financial aid and that aid changing (for the better) as time went on and schools learned where else you were accepted.


Sucks, because I kind of wanted to move out of here as soon as possible🙂

i'm not sure either. from the CIB it seems like most DO schools don't offer much aid anyway. we'll see what happens.
 
So worrying begins 2 months after completion or 10/15 correct (whichever is first)?

So I wasn't aware of this, but after perusing the 2014 thread, I've learned that there is free food in med school, and variety too! Someone mentioned thai, pizza, burritos, wraps, etc...

I got my MCAT score yesterday. I'm happy with a 31P (10P 11V 10B). I wouldn't be too broken up about not taking that doozy again 🙂 Now that my app is complete, I'm finally 'in the game'.

Let the cortisol flow...

That's a lovely score! Congrats.

I cracked the screen on my Droid last night. It slipped out of my hand right before bed and hit the carpet and the screen is FUBAR, but it still works fine. I wanted to cry. I'm pretty sure we have insurance on it... hubster has to check.

My dream is to get an acceptance from Jefferson on October 15th. It'll make the rest of the cycle a lot less stressful. :xf::xf:

The screen cracked from hitting the carpet?! Lame, that's pretty cushioned compared to all the places I've dropped my phone, the classic being when I forget its is in my lap and it drops after I get out of the car 😛

Good luck at Jefferson, I've been complete for who knows how long and they haven't emailed or anything 🙁
 
i'm going to send two schools that i am anxiously waiting to hear from cases of red bull, so they can get this show on the road.
 
Speaking of Droids, why won't Google Apps work on my goddang Google phone?! It's the most frustrating thing. Aaaand of course my Google Apps email and not my regular Gmail is what I used for applying to schools. It's funny how Google advertises its Apps as the "Gmail for work" yet you can't get it on a friggin' phone.

That's so weird... I can totally get mine to work on my Droid...

My dream is to get an acceptance on the 15th, and then stop missing so much class and spend my days lounging instead of researching schools for interviews. Luckily my profs were all very nice about me skipping out so much this month.

Edit: congrats Spleenic! Such a balanced score.

Yep, mine's @email.school.edu and I totally synced it with my phone. I put it in just like a regular Google account and it works for me...
 
Argh, I just got two rejection in a row...within an about of each other this morning. What a great month this cycle will be.....

Rejected from Tulane and Georgetown. I'm honestly starting to question if there isn't some kinda problem with my application. I know I've made this comment before to some of you, but hmmph..what if there really is like a weird LOR or something? Oh well, I can't really do anything about it now...although I do have two interviews so we'll see. *le sigh*
 
haha on ESPN's game, "Streak for the Cash" one of the current "bets" is 'Team USA will beat Iran by 35 or more points' or 'Any other score'. Should be entertaining at noon.

I think if your application really had a red flag, you probably wouldn't have interviews this early in the game. Georgetown gets so many applicants that a rejection from them likely has little to do with you and how competitive you are elsewhere. And Tulane... well my friend who goes to school in NoLa complains all the time about randomly getting flooded. Besides, you're supposed to come to Philly with the rest of us anyway!

Try not to start worrying until Turkey Day (easier said than done, I know).

Well, I'm sure you are...because most likely those two schools reviewed my app in full before offering an interview land they "liked what they saw" (hopefullly). Anyhoo, just have Drexel send me some love and I'll be in Philly soon enough haha. By Turkey Day, I'll have heard back from one of the schools that I'm interviewing..and if they were to send me a "big fat envelope" at the end of October, I won't even care what happens anymore! 🙂 Thanks for your uplifting words! It certainly helped! It's always nice to hear it from someone else!

im sitting here at work prepping for more mouse surgeries and having a ridiculously strong urge to go home and play banjo kazooie. I got that game when i was 12 i think.

If it makes you feel any better I just got rejected from Tulane too. I agree with Whimsy that if there was a problem with your app then you wouldn't have two interviews. I guess this is why people say this process is so random.

Getting my first true post-secondary rejection is a lame way to kick off September! Maybe Tulane knew I was using them as an excuse to go down there and eat beignets and gumbo 😛.
 
What I find most disturbing is how poorly groomed it is. Everything looks dirty, literally.

i'm fixed on netflix...the only recent movies ive seen were dinner for schmucks and the expendables.

dinner for schmucks was unbelievably funny, expendables was exactly the same as the rest of the stallone action movies....ehh

I had netflix for three years, and I watched a lot of movies during that time. Eventually I watched everything I had interest in seeing, and several I didn't. The last three movies I got from them I never watched, they sat on my shelf for three months before I cancelled. Those three movies cost me $60 to rent :laugh:. Oh well, now I just stick to block buster. Lately, I've been watching the first two seasons of the big bang theory and how I met your mother on DVD, which I bought from Walmart. I love TBBT! Such an awesome show.

I have heard dinner for schmucks was really funny from several people. I'll have to see it.

My netflix cue is flooded with the Wire, but I'm in the last season! Next up is Mad Men. 👍

edit: I LOVE TBBT and HIMYM. After my MCAT last year I got caught up on both series. AKA was a complete waste of life but it was worth it.

That is the best show of all time!! I watched all of it on DVD, except for the last two season which I watched on HBO as they came out.

The characters in that show are awesome, they always have the best dialogue too. I liked how they shift between several groups throughout the course of the show. Favorite character: McNulty (although I really like Omar too). Best scene: When Omar testifies against Bird in court (or the last scene with the co-op--which I won't ruin for you).

That show kicks ass!

Edit: the one thing I think they should have made happen was Avon Barksdale taking out Marlo. That would have wrapped things up nicely.

I just finished watching all the available season of TBBT through netflix. I love it! I feel like such a nerd when I actually understand some of the things they talk about. 😳

Same exact thing happened to me. Woke up to two rejections from Georgetown and Tulane. Kind of already mentally prepared myself for this as it has been a while since I heard back from them. Still stings a bit though, even though I had the Boston rejection already so I would expect to be a bit more jaded. Stay positive, it's early September. :luck:

Sorry to hear about that, but try to stay positive and focus on the interviews you got :luck: ! Even though we try to prepare ourselves for the rejections, they always hurt, but I figure that the only way to fight the disappointment is to look at the good stuff we have going!..
