I'm still playing Bioshock 2; going back through it for a second pass to get the 4 achievements I didn't get the first time around. Until I cracked it open a week ago, I actually had not touched my 360 in 7 long months....it was lonely🙂 How about you?

I ALMOST bought Halo at Costco today....I've managed to resist so far.

i wish i had an xbox so i could get fifa 11. i would be zoned out for about 6 months. maybe i'll use my savings and reward myself if i get an acceptance.

I've never played the bioshock games but I know they are the spiritual successor to the SystemShock series which was amazing on PC (only played the 2nd one) so I'm sure its great. So many games owe their existence to SystemShock 2. Was really a game changer though it didn't sell well.

I've been playing Reach multiplayer at my friend's house now and then. Lots of fun. Been wanting to get a 360 for a while now, and with the new console they released earlier in the summer and the xbox live updates coming soon, I think its time to make the splash.

this is what I'm planning! I still play Fifa 07 now and then on old school xbox.. If these interviews go well, I want to lock myself in a room and knock out the games I've missed out on these last four years I've decided to "avoid" gaming. By avoid I mean not buy anything, although my friends sucked me into WoW through a Christmas gift....

We're gonna have the play in the 11v11 online man and wreck people with our decisive intelligent play. Even though I love midfielders, I really have an itching to play keeper in Fifa 11 online, or at least attempt it. Who's your favorite club?

yeah we play fifa 08. played 10 a lot this summer though. pretty much all of the spain clubs, especially Real Madrid. Bayern Munich is a treat too.

Ah we're rivals in the Bundesliga 😉 I usually pull for Borussia Dortmund in the German league, but the only club team I really follow is Arsenal.
 
Ugh, I hate Real Madrid...and the only guy I like from Arsenal is Fabregas. He's a classy dude.

Now, Barcelona?! That's the good stuff. Messi is god. And now that they also have Villa, it's going to get ridonkulous! My favorite team (followed closely by Liverpool).

Thumbs up for Bayern too! Robben is incredible (when he's fit)! And Schweinsteiger is one of the best midfielders in the game currently. An exciting team to watch.

Yeah, Fabregas is class. Barcelona's unprofessional antics this summer though concerning him spoiled them for me. If there's a team I would want to have success other than Arsenal, it'd be Barcelona, since I love their style and philosophy of play, but this summer really left a bad taste in every Gunner's mouth, and at least for this season.. I'd love for them to crash and burn just so Xavi, Puyol, Pique, and Iniesta can choke on their own words for their Veruca Salt antics concerning Cesc and bad-mouthing Arsenal as an organization. Maybe their recent success made them forget that not too long ago at the beginning of the decade, Barca was winning nothing, and Arsenal was winning plenty of trophies, and it took time for this current Barca squad to grow and gel and become the powerhouse they are today; just as Wenger has been trying to build a young squad from cheap transfers and the youth academy. The only Barca player who showed any class during the transfer season concerning Cesc was Messi, which speaks volumes of not getting sucked into the peer pressure.
 
I would like to join the video game discussion, but I am a Nintendo fan. 😀 I know of Halo and Bioshock and all that jazz, but I've never played them. My cousin just got a 360 though, maybe that will change in the distant future....

With that said, I just had a great workout. Woot!

She remembered me when I went to talk to her too! We'd only met briefly at an info session last year, since I'd asked a couple questions. I agree that she is super nice and that it should not freak anyone out. Now if only I'd hear about getting an interview soon!

Cougs, all that baking talk we had last night inspired me to bake this morning, and I found an AMAZING new recipe for basic drop sugar cookies that you can top with sprinkles or whatever you want (I chose colored sanding sugar!) 🙂
 
I have found the source of my next nightmare.


Me: Hey, so I bought too much rosemary bread, you need to come down and get some
Mom: Ok, I'm coming down there later today anyway. It has been a really bad week. Yesterday there was a swarm of drywood termites in the backyard. And today there was a swarm of subteranean in my BEDROOM.
Me: Ewwwwww. How can you tell the difference?
Mom: The size. They both look like ants and have wings kind of like dragonflies, but one is much smaller than the other.
Me: Do they bite?
Mom: No, they don't eat humans
Me: EAT? What???? Who said anything about EATING?
Mom: I thought you said eat?
Me: NO! I said BITE! Not eat!
Mom: Well, they're really sort of the same thing
Me: Um...no. No they're not. They conjure up completely different nightmares. Thanks.

First interview over. Exhausted. Wanted to jump in the hotel pool but I think I'm gonna face plant into the mattress. I think I did alright. Could have done much better but I was very nervous at first since it was the first one, even though the atmosphere wasn't stressful. Beautiful facilities, liked the curriculum and clinical programs. Not many research opportunities though. Not that I want to go crazy research, but I'd like to do some. Very friendly staff and students we encountered.

wow, I looked at our FB page and some of us have some awesome interview invites. We need a discussion page devoted to invites (and pretty soon acceptances). 🙂
 
I want another interview invite 🙁 I feel like since I have a low sGPA though, adcoms are currently passing me over for academic rockstars like all of you, and once you decline their schools they'll get to looking at my file and realizing how rad I am 🙂

I guess I'm really just happy that I haven't gotten many rejections at all, but limbo is a painful place to be in.

for real. i need some more love, especially after one of my state schools put me on hold, "until the end of the cycle", aka non-rejection rejection. I was upset about that one since one of my former roomies and some teammates also go there, which as if that wasn't enough, my undergrad seems to send almost every pre-med there, so I was disappointed by that hold. Other ones, I feel like, its a competitive process, and I understand I messed up early on and really turned it around late, but out of all the MD schools I thought I had a decent chance at that one. Whatever, I finally got an MD interview elsewhere so its their loss, gives me a chip on my shoulder for better or worse, since we all have our own chips, but I tend to make them count.. at least I did during athletic competitions, so hopefully I can do the same here...

Its completely unacceptable, immature, and belligerent. I hope the parties involved receive their due diligence under the body of law and acceptable punishments.

This is exactly how I felt on Wednesday. Completely drained, thinking the fact that I was horribly nervous affected my interview even though it was low key. And similar impression to the school, too (though it's not research-oriented, something like 60% of the students partake in publishable research).

Ugh. The next two weeks are going to suck.
