Class of 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
 I don't need to look, I know exactly who you are talking about!

You know how there is a "you must be at least this tall to ride" sign at amusement parks (and in Cougs lil black book)? There should be a "you must be at least this google competent" sign on SDN. That kid must have decided to be pre-med just last week.

:laugh::laugh:

UC Davis conference was pointless, as expected, but had a good, tiring time with the fun premed folks.

I feel sorry for premeds who have nothing interesting going on in their lives. Maybe it's just my experience, but I feel like interviews are all about everything besides your box checking activities. (except maybe research at some schools/programs)

Yessir, from one of my interview this past month.. so now I can officially join you all in the class of 2015, as with it being the first one, I'm now in somewhere!

:soexcited:

edit: sorry this sounds so vague I guess. just for our usual slight anonymity here. I can talk more in PM's.
YAY!!!!!!!!:highfive:Major congrats, dude!!! I will be PMing you to ask you where🙂

I just saw an AWESOME 3D sneak preview for TRON: Legacy at The Park.

Also......there are men dressed in Tron uniforms at The Park right now
:: swoon ::

Is it weird that hot guys don't do much for me, but you put a mediocre guy in a Tron uniform and I am willing to do anything?😉

CONGRATS!

:claps:, PM me back!

At least now, you are sure of going to medical school! You better be out partying somewhere....

Oh definitely. I found out the same day as homecoming weekend... lol

And thanks everyone for the congrats and support!

Nothing like a chance to celebrate! Congrats, Longshanks. =)

This weekend we went driving through central PA trying to find a farm to buy organic food... and it moved on us. Not to mention the little sis busted her knee. Let's hope this week gets off to a better start!

killing time before an interview. who is here to entertain me?

I am! Here, watch this!

that is ridiculous. why would someone make that? it is entertaining though. thanks geekmama

It's kinda fun to just let your eyes lose focus watching it and zone out for awhile.

It's actually the same image 4 times, but it is designed that they match up when placed right next to/above/below each other.

I love that thing! And yes, whoever designed that... too much time on their hands or class project?

In general, Rube Goldberg machines are awesome. Love the OK Go video with one in it --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qybUFnY7Y8w

Dude, that was awesome! I never saw that before. Chicklet also climbed into my lap just to watch. She was fascinated.

I -have- seen the treadmill one! It's awesome.

And thank you! It's like $60 new from the store... F that. I got it half price on E-bay. 😀

Definitely a great music video. OK Go always makes some fun ones.

The Bravery did a similar video a couple years back. Hmm.. re-watching it now though.. if chicklet is looking at this thread, Geek, then I won't post it since one part of the machine, a mannequin got guillotined, so that can't be good... but the rest of it is interesting lol.

Haha, good job! I've never been a big Halloweenie myself, but I suppose I'll have to once kids roll around. The costumes posted here were pretty funny - with all the cooking the BF and I do, the lobster one is totally up our alley. Even he laughed at that!

I've been doing a lot more buying on Amazon since I discovered Swagbucks - I think I've earned $125 in gift cards over the last few months. It's petered out now that I am working again and the people who signed up under me hit their limits, but it was $125 I didn't have before.

Nah, she's busy destroying the bottom shelf of the bookcase, which is all her books, and some of my old notebooks that I don't care what she does with.

Hmm... I don't remember that. D'you remember which song it was for?

OMG it's allllll about White Knuckles by Ok Go... they have all these adorable rescued dogs performing stunts in it. 😍

In less fun news, I woke up and the guys doing construction on the house next to mine turned off my water when they turned off my neighbor's water. And they didn't want to turn it on again for me. So that was kind of my "waking up on the wrong side of the bed" moment today.

Hahaha, I love it! Hadn't seen that one yet. I'm behind the times - saw them in concert a couple years ago but haven't kept up since. Really excited that Guster is coming to town in a couple months though.

Its amazing too considering how tough it is to get animals to cooperate in filming stuff, and to have all that coordinated and be able to complete take... that's pretty amazing.

Ugh, waiting til Friday is going to suck. I've bought like 5 video games for my PS3 to distract me until then and I already hate all of them. Long week ahead of us.

If they invented a machine that could make you sleep for a year and wake up and be in med school already would you use it? I would fast-forward to next summer and take a bomb-diggity vacation before med school!

I'm not on the FB group yet. Daisy sent me the info the other week I believe, I've just been lazy lol. I'll join sometime soon, promise.

yes. no doubt

I know how you feel. I've been desperately seeking out distractions and time-wasters and I still feel like I'm going to go insane while waiting for the admissions decision

Ugh. Same.

I have 40 hours of work and 9 hours of lab to look forward to between now and then, though. So, hopefully it'll be interesting-ish and time will go by as quickly as possible.

finding a good job is as difficult as they say. finding any job is as tough as they say

Random pet peeve #16: When people type "should of" when they mean "should've." Yeah, you probably pronounce it as "should of," but that is no reason to turn your brain off while you are typing. kthx.

Anyways 😀 This thread was really slipping down the first page in an unacceptable manner, so I decided to bump. And request more madlibs. More madlibs, please!

i haven't heard the term mad lib in so long i couldn't remember the specifics of how the game worked and consequently wiki'ed it. im losing it yo, 80ish hours until umich potentially texts me i'm going to be a doctor 👍

Read the last page of the how did you react when you got accepted thread.

Dude, if that's the case I am going to be ripschit.

i might just have to hatch a plan to destroy the universe. uchicago calls acceptances, so no call = rejection. so now if i don't get a call i won't know whether it's because i'm out or if it's because they can't call on friday

damnitall. My school said (laughingly...possibly a joke?) that they'd mail it out on the 14th so it would start getting to ppl on the 15th or 16th. If the AAMC is going to play hardball and not let them mail it until the 16th, I will be sad

According to last year's SSD thread, Jeff calls acceptances, too. I don't know if no call definitely = rejection, though. Ugh...

Do you think it'd be too annoying for me to call SUNY Upstate and ask them if we'd hear decisions on or after this Friday? I always feel bad about bugging those admissions people for things, they always sound so busy.

Plus I wanna know if I should wait for an email/snail mail or expect a phone call.

Thoughts?

personally, IMHO, the difference between finding out on a Friday or Monday isn't major, and not worth calling. but calling or e-mailing to see if you will find out their decision via e-mail or snail mail is worth contacting them for, and they may just tell you about the 15th thing as a bonus :meanie:

I was a theatre major in undergrad. New York, American Southern, British, Cockney and Irish are my best, but I would seriously need to brush up on them. I was always very good at dialects, though (except for New England... I always turned Southern and I have NO idea why), so I'm sure I could do more, but these were the ones we covered in class and I never bothered to learn others because I was worried it would trip me up.

British was always the hardest for me - never knew why. Do an awesome Scottish though 😀

:hello: Hey guys! Recovering from the marathon yesterday (and probably will be for the rest of the week) but luckily finished it so I won't have an awkward answer to an interview question about it

:luck: Good luck to all of you that could hear something on the 15th. Still hoping for a few more interviews myself.

That's always been one of the easiest for me. I'm not sure how good my Scottish is... I had it down pat the semester I learned it, but now it'll probably just turn into Irish. I feel like Scottish is harder for girls to do. Firstly, you very rarely hear a female with that accent 'round these parts, and it just is kind of gruff sounding, to me. Much easier for guys, IMO.

Also, Duckgirl, you are awesome! I'd be in the unit if I tried to run a marathon, for reals.
