The house sparrows are definitely preferable to the pigeons we have. They used to get into all the trash on campus, it was gross. As a whole, my campus did have very creative wildlife, particularly the squirrels... saw one chilling on a bike seat eating a whole orange, one had a piece of pizza, and another one had a whole Hershey's chocolate bar still in the wrapper!

So....interview tomorrow...and I am officially sick. 🙁 So far, I am in a good mood, which is rare for me when I'm sick, so that at least is good. My hotel room is comfy, I had room service bring me OJ, and I got upgraded for free to a mini SUV at the car rental place.

I want to try to see if I can sleep it off today, but then it feels like such a waste being here a day early to go and do stuff🙁 Maybe I will try to take a nap right now and if it doesn't happen, I'll just go do something fun.

Has anyone been sick during an interview? How did that go over?

I've been moderately sick and it's been okay - just be honest about it. I've also been interviewed by someone who looked like they had the plague and it was still okay. 🙂 I've interviewed with people who were pretty sick and overall the admissions offices have been pretty understanding (or at least that's what they said when I asked them about it).

I'm more worried about how being sick will make YOU feel! Take care of yourself today, even though it sucks that you can't go exploring. At least take a nap?


Congrats for all the new 2015-ers!!! The school that accepted me gave me a follow up call yesterday so I wasn't dreaming on Friday after all.

Is anyone else having trouble relaxing now that you are accepted because you are waiting to hear from other schools? I really wish I could be satisfied that I am actually going somewhere!!!

I am like cliff. It has been a long time since I've felt at ease, and it's nice to FINALLY feel like my life isn't a game of catch up.
 
I think it is just taking a while for it to sink in that I don't have to participate in the rat race anymore. I can actually enjoy the rest of my undergrad. Wow... 😱

if i was in undergrad still, with an acceptance at hand, and no responsibilities besides keeping a decent gpa it would be a giant sh ! t show. take advantage of that.

College football ftw. Baseball is 😴

My idea for baseball: allow all performance-enhancing non-illegal drugs. The resulting game would be super exciting, with home runs every single hit. Plus the 'roid rage would lead to some EPIC brawls between teams.

This is kinda how I feel about all professional sports. If you're gonna pay someone millions of dollars (monstrously), why not let them be monsters?

I was thinking today about why being waitlisted/put on hold sucks so much. It is because it really is kind of like a slap in the face. If a school rejects you, you can just write them off. You can think "Oh, they totally don't get me" or "I was just so not their type" or "They are just stupid". But you can't do that with waitlisting....because they DO kind of know, yet they want to keep you hanging. Like that guy who makes out with you once every couple of weeks but then in between doesn't return your calls.

And you can't say you hate him...because if the world ends and the two of you are the last remaining people on earth, you may need to make babies with him....and you may or may not have better prospects. So you allow yourself to be mistreated and strung along like a battered woman until your nerves are fried from the self talk of "It's ok....he is a good school....just hold on a little longer...maybe he will change".

Favorite obscure TV show from when you were a kid...?

Mine was Under the Umbrella Tree. So far, anytime I bring it up, I'm the only one who has ever heard of it. It was on the Disney Channel and had this lady who lived in an apartment with a giant fake tree with a puppet gopher living underneath it named Gloria, a puppet iguana named Iggy and... that's all I can remember.
