MULTIQUOTE TIME!

I haven't seen all of Invincible, but I want to. E-A-G-L-E-S! Eagles!

Chicklet figured out to yell "Eagles!" after I go "E-A-G-L-E-S!"
😀

If that's not on our instant queue it's going on right now... thanks for the reminder!

Of course I've seen Serendipity. Hell, hubster also has a think for Kate Beckinsale so he'll even watch that one.

We took Chicklet to see that in the theatre. First and only time so far, but she was really good! If we'd had more Goldfish crackers, she would have been an angel the whole time. Also, I cried like a bitch at the end.

Same. And LOL, this is sound advice!

It was pretty good! I just didn't like the dance at the end. Is that supposed to be chortling?

Love!
Wait wait....does this mean, if I move to Philly, that I have to be an Eagles fan???

Also....the dance was LAME. The ending was kind of lame too. But overall it was ok. It is one of my three favorite stories of all time, so I had high expectations.
i'm canceling my interview for this friday and withdrawing from an invite i got today. i'm over this traveling circus and it feels good to know where i'm going! unless 1 school makes an exception for me in the next couple weeks.
Yay!!:woot:

damn. i'm kind of jealous of you guys with settled choices. i'm probably taking it to the bitter end. congrats!
Ditto, dude🙁 Especially since now, post interview, two of my 3 favorite schools are non-rolling and the third automatically waitlists OOS people. But I am happy I at least know I'm going to med school somewhere!

don't sweat it. we all start school the same time anyway and you'll both end up where you're supposed to be!

Totally. Not gonna lie, dude...I sort of resent having to make sweet sweet love to a school AFTER interviewing there🙁 ::sigh:: But I will do it. And I will do it well, dammit!!!!!

No, you don't HAVE to be an Eagles fan... you just have to be prepared for constant abuse if you're not! :meanie:

Really, though, you'll be fine unless you're walking around town on gameday sporting a jersey for a division rival (especially the Cowgirls).

Yay Cliff! I'm so jealous, as I'm still waiting for an acceptance/more than one interview invite 🙁

Meanwhile, I'm stuck at the lab doing the postdoc's work. I stole a fun-sized Snickers from another lab's candy bowl. Someone's a grumpy elf today.

my reaction to the urm thread

I'm holding out for my top two, which are non-rolling, even though I know they're both not likely to be realistic choices.

Oh well, I'll still pine after them for a while.

For some reason, I thought harvard gave most people full ride. They don't. Little bit of a bummer. Really like this place tho. I really hope I get into one of my top two though. (Colo or CleveClin)
my good friend please refer yourself to my avatar.

I was always under the impression that they have really great need based aid, but nothing else.

I guess being from a city without a football team is good; I can pick whatever team I want

I need a shoulder to cry on, because some ***** in another thread doesn't care about my feelings. I'm really broken up about it. 🙄

You must be from LA... this is exactly me! I basically root for whichever teams have the most/my favorite USC players.

And I'm right there with ya bleargh and Cougar about taking it to the bitter end... I have no idea where I'll end up. We shall see!

I really wish Oregon had an NFL team. If they built up the other side of Autzen they totally could play there. We already have a tendency to be intensely loyal to our teams, so even if they were awful they'd have a solid fan base 🙂

Side note: my first (yes, first) interview is two weeks from today :scared: Slightly scared but very excited!

what is in oregon besides the blazers?

We will have an MLS team next year, which is exciting. Besides that, no professional teams (except an indoor lacrosse team). We have a minor league hockey team, and just kicked out at AAA baseball team (to get the MLS team). I think because of this, people get really intense with the college teams.

The most microbreweries of any state in the union?

Haha I was assuming it was a professional sports-based question, so I didn't have to list everything Oregon has. Besides covered wagons (probably our biggest claim to fame).

yeah nc is similar. we have the bobcats, panthers, and hurricanes, but because they suck college sports dominate.

I love college sports more than pro sports, because the games are usually way more exciting. They aren't making millions of dollars yet, so they still have that drive and passion that seems to be lost in endorsements and contracts later on.

they have the drive and passion in college because they WANT to be pros and make millions. the only college sport i like more than the pro version is basketball.

So, in looking for a Netflix movie to watch....I mentioned "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" to Elijah05.

Well he told me not to watch it. Then he told me what it was about.

So now, I ask of you...why is everyone so fascinated by this book and movie and telling me to watch it? It sounds like a yuck-fest.

🙁 Okay I might be a little overly optimistic, but I assume they play for the love of the game. A few of my friends played college sports (with basically no shot at the pros) and loved it. But teams are probably a mix of the two.

it depends on the sport and level of competition we're talking about.

I'm thinking of getting a temporary holiday job as a Nordstrom gift-wrapper simply because I love wrapping presents. That, and I'm a tad broke.

I'm talking D1 football. There are a few that don't fit the stereotype.

I love wrapping presents! I always used to wrap all my family's presents when I was little. In hindsight, it was probably my job because my parents were too lazy and encouraged me to do so, but it was fun.

I haven't read the book, and when I first saw it was available on Vudu (I just got a new Vizio so it has those cool internet apps to stream movies, like netflix but I don't have a netflix account so.. but the first few movies from Vudu and Amazon were free) I noticed it was a popular choice and rated well. The Tomato Meter was also high for it, and I generally trust rotten tomatoes. So I went in with no expectations, other than seeing that Daniel Craig would be starring in the American version next year. The trailer was in English, so that was false advertising.

It was a great film. Great story, strong plot, excellent cinematography, good twists. It was a great thriller movie. I liked it a lot and definitely recommend it. Amazing foreign film and definitely one of the top 5 films of 2009 in my opinion. I have severe doubts whether the American version can remotely live up to it. It really isn't that gory. Maybe the novel is that way (like I said I haven't read it) but that's because its written word. In film you can hint at it or just present it with certain angles. It is a well done film.

I don't know how one of the Mara sisters is going to play Lisbeth in the American version, because Lisbeth is this really punky/goth girl, and the Mara sisters are very New York upper west side prep girls (as much as I love the New York Giants and the Mara family, and Kate is an alright actress and better singer, I just can't see how a rich sheltered girl can act this role. Kate isn't playing her though).

i learned a trick from my dad, or lack thereof, sometimes he puts gifts in brown grocery bags and staples them and laughs his ass off about it hahaha

I know it's been years, but someone was just talking to be about skin cream and I am still totally disturbed at how much Avon Derma-Full looks like the friggin' T-virus. The Regenerate cream teaser trailer for Resident Evil: Apocalypse doesn't help the situation, either.

WTF were they thinking?!

Chuck Norris should run for Texas Govenor! that way I have the Terminators signature on my bachlors diploma, and I would go to a medschool in Texas and get Chuck's signature on my medschool diploma! and its an understood fact that if chuck norris signs your diploma you are automatically board certified in all specialties without having to go through any residency!

Weather starts getting cold, and I start popping vitamin C

Hmmm, looks like the patent finally expired.

That is a good question. I shall ponder this.....

:hello:

How is everyone? I just started a new volunteer job today. It's non-clinical, but it's relevant to my experiences, and I think it'll be cool.

Not looking forward to going to my real job at the lab tomorrow... nothing I have touched for the past 2 weeks has gone right and I feel like the PI must be getting annoyed.

Yeah, this thread is too quiet today. But my day was pretty run-of-the-mill so I can't really add much...

Daisy, what kind of volunteering are you doing, if I may ask?

:hello:
Howdy ksmi! You're never in here🙂 What's shakin?

Daisy....I hope the new volunteer gig goes well!

Long day of work for me....and now a long night on call. So sleepy. But I feel a little better after my complete and total meltdown last night.

A little.
