My crap day went on until about 7am today, when I went to work. Yesterday I came home from hell day to find my roomie on the floor. Her dog had knocked her down, knocked her unconscious, and was proceeding to try and actually gnaw/eat her alive. I was like 😱😕😱. This lab has some type of mental disorder.

It took about 10 minutes to pry the dog off her, then after being bitten I was finally able to drag the dog to the bathroom and lock her up. Got roomie medical attention.

Later last night I threw the dog outside and told the roomie she had to either get rid of the dog or move out. The dog is nuts, it jumps on tables, it destroys electronics, actually rips books off shelves, and now it's turned vicious or something.

So then I couldn't sleep at all between the dog barking/howling/throwing itself against the back door all night and my roomie wailing endlessly about how she doesn't want to give up her dog...that tried to eat her.

Work is a welcome respite. No fire so far today 👍

Hi! How's it going??

I had a pretty uneventful night watching the usual Thursday shows (Parks and Recreation is finally back!!), about to watch Jersey Shore. It's so awful, but I can't stop watching it.

I have actually managed to avoid the Jersey Shore entirely. I know, given my propensity to get sucked into trashy tv, that once I start I won't be able to stop.

My night was boring. Sometimes it's a little lame to be the only one of my friends who can't have chocolate milk. Booooo.

We are going to look at houses tomorrow.

I'm so bored at work today. 2 of our 3 providers are out sick and the third one has like 5 patients all day long. And we usually average about 80 pts/day. boooooooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeedddddddddddddddddddd😱🙄😉😍👍:scared:😛
 
since i got home yesterday i have had 16 hours of sleep, and i still feel tired.

Yowza. This morning I went to an intense cardio/step aerobics/weight training class, and I got my butt kicked by about 20 middle aged soccer moms. I thought I was in pretty good shape, but this was brutal!

I hope everyone's having a happy Friday! Any big plans for the weekend?

I'm going to try and finish dead space and maybe start on another game. I also have to finish an afghan and a scarf I'm making, so we'll see how far I get on any of the things I just talked about. 😀

That's neat, I've always wanted to learn how to knit. But for now, I just let my grandma do the knitting and make me snazzy scarves 🙂

Wooo! Yay the weekend!

My plans are pretty laid-back. Tonight we're going out to a bar and it's supposed to be like -20C; our original plans of going to Igloofest, an outdoor electronic/pop music concert in Montreal fell through. Tomorrow we're going out for brunch and then some type of small get-together in the evening. Sunday will be low-key with interview prep...and that's pretty much it!

I'm having a hard time deciding whether I would actually want to go here! It's a nice, warm cozy city but the french is killing me..although McGill will throw me into a compulsory french course so I can work in the hospitals.

Opinions anyone?--ie: residency placement in the future, job prospects in the States, etc.?

I'm a firm believer that you can obtain whatever you want no matter which medical school you go to. I'd go for the experience.

Well, I would go too, but there's a caveat which is I'd have to take two licensing exams--one for Canada and one for the US if I'd like to place into either. It's a pain...unless I want to stay here! But I'm still on the fence about it.
 
Hmmm, I wish I could help you out Trio but I know essentially nothing about the school/getting a Canadian degree. But I agree with Hoody, go where you're happy. If it doesn't seem like a good fit in terms of location/students/weather/etc, then you might not be as happy there. But good luck making your decision!

I got another rejection today... but this school was so high up on my **** list for how they conducted themselves any time I contacted them that I don't even care.

aww thanks Juliedi for the comment! I feel like it would be a great fit in terms of location/students/weather (not so much the latter, but I'm enjoying it here thus far, even though it's -20). I just can't handle the french language barrier. 🙁

For the school that I'm most likely going to go to in NYC, I don't like the surrounding area--bc it's unsafe. 🙁

Quite a dilemma, but I will *most likely* stay in the US to simplify things-and move to Canada if I want to start up a new life there!

LOL...but I'm asian..but when I see these guys, I imagine one of them must sound really Quebecois with their nasally accent.! Sorry to hear about your rejection btw! 🙁 But glad it was from a school that didn't matter to you! 🙂

What is everyone doing as far as housing (on/off campus)? I'm debating buying this baby pug from one of my friends but I'm not sure how pet friendly school housing is. I've never lived on campus/in a dorm.

My impression is that it's generally not friendly at all. Usually not allowed.

As for housing, I know I'll be living off campus wherever I go. My bf and I are gonna be living together, but since we won't be married by then (unless something extremely crazy happens) we'll have to go off campus. But to be honest, most of the schools I'm considering at this point don't really have student housing anyway, so it wouldn't matter.

Yeah, most dorms are not so pet friendly.

I think I'll probably do off campus, though I have no idea what the situation will be as far as roommates.
