Robo, thank you! I am actually really shocked at how well it is going. I feel really lucky to have 8 invites. But like you said....you just want more. And i just want to KNOW, you know? Even if it is a rejection. I hate all of the pink on my spread sheet (pink is for in limbo, green is for invite and gray is for rejection). Even though I am dreading hearing from the bad interview from last week, at least then I can stop obsessing over it. But I am hoping that I will not have to do this again next year and that is all I can really hope for🙂


Duckie....switching over to Lifetime now. I was watching Melissa and Joey episodes On Demand. This will be way better. I wishing I had gotten some seasons from Netflix and ripped them and put them on my iPod for my trip. Life is so much better with HIMYM.

Yeah, screw BU. I will be rejected by them in the next 10 days anyway. And I also have 3 other rejections too.

Ok, so.....I kinda like Melissa and Joey🙂 I mean, I really like both of them, and it is totally cheesy comedy, but it's like....I don't know....nostalgic or something watching them. I like them together.

So, if you have On Demand.....watch it🙂 It is nice and mindless and happy. Also, she has great outfits and shoes in the show.

Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives always shows food that is horrible for you, but tasty looking food. I am not surprised that Guy's restaurant is the same way.

The fact you have 8 interviews is amazing, but the quality of schools makes it even more impressive. You are doing awesome 👍.

I have interviews in September & November, but October is wide open. Hopefully the next couple of weeks fixes that.

Those 3 schools that rejected you clearly didn't get the memo, Cougs.

my october is booked. one in november. i think october might potentially get more booked... we'll see. i'm not trying to get ahead of myself though.

It was just a couple months ago we were all stressing on getting just one interview, now it seems like many of us have several and many more are on the way for everyone else. Outside the world of SDN, most people I've talked to have 0-1 interviews, so it is still way early.

If only we all were so fortunate. I haven't heard a thing from any MD schools yet, but its not 6-8 weeks yet for me, so I'm not letting it stress me, and I'm not trying to judge myself based on what's going on with my peers. And I have no reason to complain since I have DO interviews coming up, at places I'm very interested in regardless. Digressing but just saying, that OP is ridiculous. I haven't been on the site much this last week and a half due to some personal issues, but the threads on the first page tonight are absolutely terrible, and Cole had a funny comment in one of the threads about how pathetic its gotten and doesn't even go to the general pre-allo forum anymore but was curious if the pre-meds had annihilated themselves yet.

Hi everyone! I just discovered this thread and wanted to join the party. And yes, I saw the 3 weeks/10 interviews thread. I think you all had it covered. 🙄

Congrats to everyone on all their interview invites! I've only scored one so far, screened or rejected at 4 schools and waiting to hear from 10. But, all it takes is one school, right?

On a more serious note:
I'm debating adding a few more applications, any thoughts on adding schools so late in the game? I applied broadly because my stats are bizarre: 3.00 cum (long story), 3.35 science (orgo was bad, but a rockstar in upper level bio - all of this was as a post-bac) and 34Q on the MCAT. I'm thinking I could afford to add a few more lower tier schools to my app.

i don't know about adding schools this late in the game. you might wanna ask the 2014ers if they have any experience with that.

Howdy! Have no fear, I also have low-ish GPAs and a 34Q as well. Keep in mind that some schools haven't even started handing out invites yet! We can always get more!

On a less inspirational note to everyone else, woke up with a big fat R this morning. It's a school with substantial negative feedback on SDN though, so that eases the pain a bit 🙂

I haven't gotten any work done in two hours.

Pretty much, I'm the worse grad student ever. I'm think more about medical schools and interviews than actually getting my thesis done. :laugh: I have 3 interviews in a 4-day time frame coming up... and if the guy applying next year thinks doing 10 in 3 weeks is too much, I wonder if I am crazy.

But thanks to you Cougs, my spreadsheet is now colored. 🙂

I'll PM the basic details. I try to maintain some anonymity on this website and the type of animal I work with... well... ADCOMs would know who I am immediately. Few people would work with this animal. haha.

edit: My thesis is occasionally called fun science and is in the neurobiology and behavior field. I enjoy it because it's giving me the basic foundations to conduct research and my own lab with minions in my future physician career 🙂

I'm trying to stay calm about the process and was doing relatively well - really happy about already having an interview already - but like any good SDNer, I began to overanalyze. Ended up talking with my advisor today and she told me to save my money - it's super competitive this year and if a secondary isn't out yet, don't waste the money unless you would really want to go to that school. It worries me because I finally got to send in Virginia Tech Carilion last night and I am really interested in the school even if I got on the bandwagon late.

I think I am going to get really, really good at twiddling my thumbs this year.

Turquoise for upcoming interviews, blue for interviewed, light gray for no secondary submitted (either because it wasn't received or because I didn't feel like it), dark gray (hard to read school name lol) for rejected, light red/pink for submitted/no word on interviews. Probably use light desaturated green for accepted. lol.

btw my CO interview is on the same day that UPitt starts giving out acceptances. I think it'd be hilarious if I heard from Pitt while at UCO.
 
Hello everyone! Sorry I've beeen MIA from the thread and SDN in general. I've been caught up in my own bit of "drama" and I am also mega sore from the gym, like I can barely move. I should probably take it easy the next few days or I'll look like something is physically wrong with me at my interviews next week!

anyhoo...I just wanted to check in and wish everyone good luck for a week of continual goood news! All has been quiet for me for the past week or so, but that doesn't mean it can't pick up soon for everyone else! 😀

Quick anecdote: Drama at SUNY Downstate--I was promised a student host but no one has volunteered for me...(no love for Asyouwereatrio), so they're scrambling in the housing office to "put me up for the night"--her words, not mine. I thought it was cute.

Btw, what do you guys think of the movie "Devil" that is coming out on Friday? It looks cool, and it is a horror movie..which me gusta, especially when I'm out with my "special friend"!

Anyway, could use some cheer and encouragement - and cake, since that seems to be an overwhelming theme on this thread!

Like cliff, I can't comment on adding this late. I can tell you that I added at the beginning of August and the results were really good. But it is now a month later, and I just have no clue.

Stalker! We use the same colors😉 When I said green I really meant turquoise, but I knew with all of the boys in this thread it wouldn't make sesne. Also I use light pink for no word and dark pink for those that I have a low probability of an interview invite.

Cougar, your post made me laugh so hard I almost spit water all over my cubicle. I hope my co-workers don't think I've gone completely crazy (and they already know I'm a little crazy, so I'm not really that worried).

As for a mini-obsession...
-SDN 😳 (but that one's obvious and not really 'mini') - but no one in my 'real life' knows about it!
-checking my phone every 0.48 seconds for any new messages, facebook messages, emails, changes in the weather, etc. It's really an issue. Every time the little Blackberry light blinks, my heart drops because I hope it's an email containing an interview invite - so far the fantasy has only come true one time but hoping for more (and SOON!)
-food related, to stick with your theme: cold pizza. way better than hot pizza. I don't put it on everything though, that would just be weird - I just really, really love it.

There must be something about food that lends itself to obsessions... I hate buttered bread. Given the choice, I put applesauce on it instead. As you can imagine, people look at you weird when you do that in public.

I don't butter my bread either! For breakfast, when there are biscuits, I prefer to put honey on them than anything else. And I hate, hate, hate anything soggy. Yuck. Bread bowl at Panera makes me cringe.

Hahaha! I never tried them with honey... I like applesauce because it's usually cold and sweet and the bread is usually warm and slightly salty. When I'm out for Italian it's a little easier with the olive oil dipping, but I just can't bring myself to load on the butter.

Bread bowls *are* gross.

My gf and I went on a weekend vacation after my interview, so she came with me and dropped me off. She told me the same thing about it being good luck, but I know for sure that she said it so I wouldn't be peeved. I jokingly told her that I thought she sprinkled it on me for "good luck."

On my way back from my interview, my gf and I stopped at this Italian Restaurant with awesome bread, and they put out olive oil with roasted garlic. It was sooooooo good. Also, they had the best strawberry lemonade too.

honey is a good choice. pb and honey sandwich are a treat.

I am obsessed with Alpine Touch. It is made in Montana and I use it on everything. There are a variety of flavors, but I just use the regular stuff. It is delicious!

Totally agree with the honey......the applesauce...hmm...I will need to try that.

I actually like butter on bread. Or really....I like a little bread with my butter. I don't generally have bread in my house (or butter, except for baking), so it is a restaurant only thing and I go slightly mad when the bread basket comes out to the table.

glasshalfMD, I am officially dubbing you Glassy because your name is too long. Also, since you are the only person who thinks I'm funny, you are now officially my favorite.

Also....I like cold pizza and really like cold anything. I eat all of my leftovers cold. Cold spaghetti is the BEST.

As for the bread bowls....at Disneyland, they have the bread bowl thing and if you ask for the bread on the side, you basically get a whole loaf of bread to take home with you. It is awesome.

The only thing left to clean in my house is the kitchen.

I don't wanna. It is gross. I hate cleaning my stove. Why can't stoves be self-cleaning. Why can't flat top stoves actually get hot enough to be functional.

What is everyone else up to today?
