Class of 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
this might sound really weird. and believe me, it's not 'complaining' - but I'm really stinkin' confused about my complete lack of official rejections...

I'm by no means some world-class applicant... and I assume that I have silent rejections from some schools since I haven't heard back in months, but I just think it's so weird that I haven't received any rejection letters/emails.

any insight, oh awesome applicants? seriously, you guys are the cheese to my macaroni - enlighten me!

Me too. I'd venture to say also that not giving official decisions is detrimental to them. If you have, say 6000 applications to your school there might be 2000 or so you know you're not going to consider. Why not email them and avoid them calling every week to find out their status? Seems silly to me too.

No but it sounds amazing. And those homemade oreos look crazy good. Is it weird that I'm a guy but I get strong cravings for chocolate?

*Drool!*

I had some maotai yesterday.

My head hurts today.

Just say no to Chinese liquor.

All of the other applicants were pretty short. So
I'll go with yes...there were oomph loompas.

Also....since cliff bailed on me....the first one to my hotel gets his See's Candy :meanie:
tiredness got the better of me. i apologize.

It's just a really frustrating process. It seems as though they hold applications for so long because they really don't know the caliber of applicants they'll get after you and are thinking... "well.. maybe this guy/girl... we'll hang on to him/her a little longer." I think if you were just a straight up under-qualified applicant you'd have been rejected.

This is my thinking too, so I'm very hopeful in a few weeks we all might start getting some more interview invites 🙂

I like the idea of making classic snack foods homemade (and therefore infinitely better). Like a homemade Hostess cupcake with devil's food cake and ganache sounds delicious. Sometimes you have to step away from the chipotle-infused dark chocolate and obscure extracts and make something simple but comforting and quintessentially American. Maybe I'm over-thinking this but I'm a baking nerd 🙂

edit: right there with you about this being a frustrating process. I've been complete most places since July or August and only been rejected from 3. People ask me if I've started medical school yet and I just laugh. They have nooo idea.

Cliff, is this an RL friend?

Yo... I loves me some tuna salad, especially if it's got celery bits in it. Yummy little sandwich.

This thread is becoming quite unhealthy for me..both physically and mentally--all this talk/photo-posting of delicious looking desserts makes me want to 1) eat them and 2) crave them til I get them....

Awkward fact about me: I actually have foodgasms when I get delicious desserts...so if you're sitting in class and I'm making awkward noises with something stuffed in my mouth...you'll know what's happening.

that just MAY have been TMI..but hey, y'all are my fellow 2015'ers! 👍

Have you seen my berry meringue pie that I posted a few times?

In a few weeks you get to see my apple pie that I'll make for Turkey Day. 😀

I ate four pieces of cliff's candy and it made me sick. Now I know why I gave up sugar. I was feeling so good!!!!

Stupid traveling weakening my defenses.

Good lord, that's a lot of pie.

Seriously, you guys are making me hungry.

SDN is becoming unhealthy for me too, Trio, but mostly because I am getting frustrated with people getting their panties in a twist in school-specific threads - the process does not work at the same speed for everyone. OMG som1 on teh internetz is wrong! Silly n00bz!

Ditto trio and court....but my issue is that I get Hulk-angry when people are ungrateful about having a lovely app season and a lot of opportunities when there are a lot of people who are getting passed over or straight up jacked.

And you know there must be a ton of people who read and never post...I always worry about how they're feeling when someone complains about good fortune🙁

I walked for two hours around the campus today. It really is beautiful. I really didn't get the prestige of this place until I got here.

Now...the airport. Waiting. I had oysters. They were delicious.

I'm with you on that one! I was convinced I was going to be one of those people and that I'd have to SMP/reapp.

Sometimes I look at people who are reading the threads and wonder about them - if they are applying and just aren't having any luck so far and that's why they're not speaking up.

I'm glad you liked the campus! I know a few people who went there for med/ugrad/phd/law and they loved it, if you are still on the same campus. And yes, the seafood there is great. =)

Fried they sort of do. But I had them raw. You wouldn't eat clams raw....I do t think🙂

They're so good. But really...anything with horseradish on it is good.

Have you ever been to the Counter in Santa Monica? Super awesome burger place that has the most customizable burgers in the world. Anyway, of their 60 or so sauces that you can put on the burger, my favorite is the horseradish mayo. It tastes amazing with their sweet potato fries.

God. All this talk of food and I haven't eaten breakfast yet. My RPMI media is looking pretty delicious right now.:d

Mmm...oysters! delicious! I have to agree with you completely---people on here are so ungrateful sometimes and don't realize that others are in a much worse situtation (omg I have 10 interviews, and 8 acceptances to top 20 schools..but HARVARD didn't want to invite me?!)

Mmmmm....The Counter; we have one here in Orange County..but unfortunately, my "special friend" doesn't like eating that type of food..so I'll never be able to go! haha. We went to Cheesecake Factory a few nights ago--he ordered a salad and I ordered buffalo wings...*sigh*

Good lord, that's a lot of pie.

Haha, I won't lie...I've gotten my panties in a twist only because I was "left out of the loop" with respect to a school's admission decision while everyone else had some sort of decision made. Thankfully I called the school to find out there just wasn't a decision made on my file yet...and my panties unbunched. hehe.

But one thing that frustrates me to no end (while we're on the subject) is people that post sporadically asking a random question in the school specific thread without making any sort of contribution otherwise. Ya, I might be nit-picky and/or anal-retentive, but I believe that SDN is a two-way street...ask a few questions, but also help a brother out when you have an answer to their question. *end rant* (Granted, there are a few exceptions I'll make when it comes to "sporadic posters")

Oh one more thing that pisses me off....when Trio bitches about not being able to go to The Counter with his SO when HE COULD JUST GO WITH ME! 😛

I should have been more specific... I just had an encounter where someone asked how long it typically takes for screening and I said 6-8 weeks (don't remember where I heard it) but another poster jumped all over me saying I was confused and wrong even though it did take me 8 weeks to get through screening. :smack:

I do agree on the SDN is a two-way street thing. I try to answer other people's questions as much as I can in hopes of getting answers from others when needed, some info just isn't in the threads.

My biggest beef though is people not reading through threads to see if their question has already been answered. I have definitely posted the same answer multiple times in the same thread.

We will find a night when we're both free and we shall go! There! Problem resolved!

Haha, I think I came across the thread where you made that post...I was confused in reading it when that person said you were confused haha. I guess everyone in this thread agrees with the whole two-way streeet/teamwork thing because that's why we're here: to answer each other's questions and just have social communication with one-another!

Here, here! (Hear, hear? I never remember which homophone this should be.) More people should be so reasonable.

I'm jealous of the burgering, that is one of my favorite pasttimes here in Philly - we have some awesome burgers.

You guys are making me want to go to Father's Office or Umami Burger. LA has SO much good food.

I went to the cancer hospital today (my doc just works there, I don't have cancer) and I heard the sweetest, most endearing exchange between these two 60-year-old cancer patients. They were strangers, and one gave the other one a hat that had a whole story behind it. It made me tear up in the waiting room.

Never had oysters. Do they taste anything like clams?
what?! you have not lived!

you could totally have raw clams

also, re: current discussion, that's why i always try to couch my whining with "this is crazy"

I had to pop in here since oysters are getting talked about.

Char-grilled oysters, FTW!

noooo! cooking is oyster death!

I've never really liked raw oysters. Something about the texture rubs me wrong. OTOH, char-grilled (some places go by char-broiled as well) oysters I could eat them all day.

Mmmm oysters... so slimy but so good!

Speaking of food, tomorrow my bf's taking me out to a fancy-schmancy Michelin-starred restaurant for my birthday. Soooo excited!

do you bite your thumb at me sir?!

damn. baller.

Oysters: the slimiest of all aphrodisiacs.

surely there are slimier

and it was awesome. 😀.... Even though I, like my usual self, had dessert instead of "real food." haha

I actually found one near my parent's house....so now I'll have to go there and actually try the meat. 😉

Ahhh! Bleargh, you beat me to it. You have been stealing my thunder lately...

ps--Bleargh, I like saying your name in frustration. It always makes me feel like Tina Fey in 30 Rock....

My girlfriend hates it when we go to the Counter since she can never make up her mind on anything, I always have to order for her. I made her order something all by herself once, and she ended up with a turkey burger with blue cheese, dried cranberries, relish, chili, and barbecue sauce. :barf:

take the bleu cheese off of that and it sounds pretty good to me.

 That's an impressively bad burger. I gotta give her credit for having the guts to try some "unconventional" flavor combos though.

I don't much like burgers, but FATHER'S OFFICE!!!

Wait, how many people on here are in the LA/general SoCal area? Seems like a lot :hello:

how come no one's talked about the election results?? Lot of u are from California im guessing

anyone sad over prop 19?

+1, but also minus the cranberries (cranberries+chili =/= good)

I can't stop thinking about the amazing stir-fry I'm gonna whip up when i get home...I'm so HUNGRY b/c I forgot to bring lunch to work, and the app process has made me go broke, so I can't eat out as much...🙁

Speaking of LA food, has anyone been to Mao's Kitchen? Soooooo delicious.
