Speaking of LA food, has anyone been to Mao's Kitchen? Soooooo delicious.
No I haven't, where is it?
And I've never been to the Counter either, but you all have talked me into it!
That looks really good! 👍I had to pop in here since oysters are getting talked about.
Char-grilled oysters, FTW!

Damn Hippie 😛how come no one's talked about the election results?? Lot of u are from California im guessing
anyone sad over prop 19?
Lol, forgot my shaver on one of my trips. Whoopsie. Need to replace the blades on it some day.i havent seen too many of the interview attire pet peeves on the trail, but the one i have seen repeatedly is guys with facial hair. come on gents, shave that **** and be a professional for a day. this is coming from someone who hates shaving and loves to rock a beard/chin strap/5 oclock shadow.
Very sad.how come no one's talked about the election results?? Lot of u are from California im guessing

LOL at that Dolling up thread. Good. Lord.
Seriously, that one guy is out of hand. I mean, I have some pretty significant pet peeves, but caring about how people dress for class is not one of them.
That looks really good! 👍
Damn Hippie 😛
Yep. Marijuana is much less bad than alcohol =P. But the FDA gets to declare anything it wants to illegal.there is no (suitable) explanation why marijuana is illegal. food, alcohol, and tobacco are all legal and kill millions.
lol I forgot about that... but you're in Vegas right?wat?? I'm from Nevada - no hippies here dude!!!
jst kiddin... i actually smoke pot everyday 👍

Hah, maybe....but none of us can get into them 😛lol i wish - im in the biggest little city
I envy all you californians - you guys have access to some of the best medical schools in the world, while im stuck with one of the worst!
you're sick!? now i don't feel bad about not meeting up! hahaHah, maybe....but none of us can get into them 😛
I thought of another icebreaker question.
What is one of the dumbest things you've ever done?
Once, I got NyQuill up my nose. I had just gotten out of the shower and I was sick, so I took NyQuill. Well, I didn't finish swallowing, and I leaned over to put my hair in a towel....and it went up my nose.
And by once....I mean 30 minutes ago.
I told you not to feel bad!!!!you're sick!? now i don't feel bad about not meeting up! haha
feel better
ha, we wouldve both been grumpy as hell.I told you not to feel bad!!!!
I also was a total crab for the whole trip; otherwise I would have pushed you harder to meet up🙂
I gave my mom your candy....she loves you now.ha, we wouldve both been grumpy as hell.
I know there are people reading this thread.
Yet everyone is leaving my icebreaker question (and embarrassing answer) hanging.
Thanks, guys. Good lookin' out.

First, I want to make clear I support the decriminalization of marijuana. I do not think people should go to jail, or have a criminal record for smoking marijuana. However, we have already done that in CA. Possession of marijuana is now going to be an infraction on par with a speeding ticket. This is how we already "tax" marijuana in the great state of CA. This keeps things from getting out of hand, while allowing the freedom for people to abuse their substance of choice.
When I considered legalizing marijuana, I asked myself "would I want my son smoking weed?" My answer: "Definitely not." Therefore, I would not legalize marijuana for him, or anyone elses kid.
If weed is legalized, society is sending a message to people, especially young people, that it is ok to get high. Well, it is not ok. I have no doubt that there are some people who can smoke weed and still function at a high level. However, not everyone can. In fact, kids who smoke marijuana before the age of 15 have a 60% chance of developing a cocaine addiction.
Apparently, Alaska legalized pot in 1975. Then they found that 13 years later teenagers in Alaska were smoking pot at 2x the rate of other states.
It may be illegal to drink and drive, and it is socially unacceptable to sit in a park and drink a 40 oz. near children. However, people do this everyday. So why would anyone think that people won't smoke a bong load and drive? Or smoke a joint at a park where kids are playing?
Alcohol and tobacco may be just as bad (or worse), but due to the history of these substances they may be forever accepted in our society. I see no reason to add marijuana to that list. Due to the increase in potency of marijuana, people are now meeting the DSM-IV criteria for addiction and being treated for their marijuana use. The idea that "marijuana is not addictive" is no longer true.
When evaluating the effects of marijuana, I don't want to look at 18 yo bud smoker... or 28 yo bud smoker... I look at the life of 58 & 68 yo bud smoker. That guy is not cool.
Finally, can you imagine what the line would be like at 7-11 if pot was legal? I am not waiting 20 minutes for a slurpee!!! 😛
I'm guessing none of the pro-ganja folks are going to post until after noon... it is still too early for them. 😀
I sort of agree with that... though I never asked any pot-smokers I know if their parents smoke. I do know that I partly love beer because my mom loves beer. But I have developed a more expensive taste for beers... i have evolved.Whether or not a kid smokes pot depends on the way he was raised. With the way kids are raised in our country, I'd say you're right!!
i think i'm going back to sleep

The most interesting premed in the world is incapable of acknowledging the most interesting man in the world.
She has never heard of Dos Equis because it is beneath her.
Chuck Norris asked her for a date, but she refused him saying that he needed to master the alphabet of manliness first (and then gave him her copy)
My pot-loving san fran friend voted no for prop 19 and says alot of people he knows voted no just for various issues with the proposition -- such as you couldn't be fired for being high... and the whole federal vs state police issue not really being straightened out.
i'm not really down with legalizing pot though so i'm glad it didn't pass (I do want it decriminalized. But that's also because I currently hate our penitentiary system...). Anyways, I don't mind pot smokers... but I have had a good friend become addicted to pot, and he doesn't really remember his entire freshman year... and I've dated and befriended some pot-lovers, and really many of them just don't seem that sharp or on the ball. Pot effects your brain more than I have ever seen alcohol imo, so I will stick with my beer (great lakes christmas ale is out now! and it is delicious!)

for there to even be a correlation of kids 13 and under smoking pot leading to heavier drug use is already an indicator that kids are smoking pot anyway! so why not make it legal? the "gateway" drug theory is so bogus.
Indeed. I know lots and lots of people (at my age, the majority are working and fully functioning professionals) and almost none of them use or have used harder illect drugs. A lot of them don't even drink. The correlation comes from the fact that those who do use "harder" drugs, also smoke pot.the "gateway" drug theory is so bogus.
think about it like this. if there was no such thing as pot, people would still do heavier drugs.

But this goes beyond just getting high. Its discrimination. I could have smoked meth all last weekend and went to work this week clean as a whistle. But if I smoked a joint two weekends ago, I'm a dirty dog. Pot and harder drugs are not the same. You cannot be very well functional with chronic use of heroin, meth, coke, etc......yet as I mentioned before, you can be pretty damn functional with chronic pot use.
This is also about freeing millions of non violent (and mostly minority) offenders from our garbage correctional system. Its about giving Americans the freedom to choose ...just as we give freedom to choose smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol, eating fatty foods, participating in high risk sports, etc...
And just food for thought....out of the 11 people who died during my 7 day shifts at work last week, 6 of them were alcohol related, with ages ranging from 28-60. yeah. I have yet to see one person in three years for a marijuana related incident.
🙄
Agreed, but I would like to keep that segment of society as small as possible.
On a related note: My state is crowded enough, can you imagine the rush west if CA legalized marijuana? It would be worse than the gold rush. There would be a bunch of hippies messing up traffic, and guys stoned out of their minds messing up my order at McDonalds. I cannot allow it!
