But anyway... I'll share my "secret". I use quotes because I'll tell anyone. I LOVE sparkpeople.com. I use it to track my calorie intake, because I don't eat poorly, really, but I was eating way too much. They give you a meal plan but I don't follow it (you don't have to, at all, it's just a suggestion). It also let's me keep track of how much water I'm drinking, and how many grams of carbs, fat and protein I've eaten. I told them I wanted to lose ** pounds by my birthday next year (late September, then my friend's getting married in October and I'm a bridesmaid... bonus motivation), and it spat out a calorie range for my daily intake, as well as a range of grams of carbs, fat and protein I should aim for.
At first I was constantly hungry, and constantly peeing, but after a few weeks that's pretty much passed and I can tell my appetite's shrunk considerably and I'm satisfied with a lot less food. That said... I was treated to a hoagie for lunch today that I was good about and sliced in half (I'll have the other half for lunch tomorrow). I can resist, but God damn is it calling my name right now. Moderation is key, I have to remind myself. 🙂
The database of food is HUGE and you can enter your own food from the label yourself very easily, and reference it again later. Oh, and if I'm using a recipe I make at home a lot, I go to sparkrecipes.com, plug in all the ingredients, tell it how many servings it makes, hit calculate, and it gives me the nutritional info that I can put into sparkpeople that way. They've also got a database on sparkrecipes.com but I haven't used it too much. What I have used has been good, though.
The best part, is totally, absolutely, 100% free.
