Class of 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what if its a nutella pancake 😉
This is the only exception! Also...I NEVER order pancakes.
I let someone else order them and then eat them all.

yummm pancakes, I want some now!
Your avatar cracks me up every single day🙂 This love of pancakes only makes it funnier🙂
Dude... Cougs... I think that was an elf.

Also, yes, I want Daisy and Sun (are there any other regulars still waiting?) to get an acceptance, too!

Ah, I can understand that. It depends on my mood.

Sorry man. 🙁

Oh my God that sounds awesome! Have fun!

*Drool*

My goal is to do ALL of my Christmas baking this weekend. Chocolate chips, oatmeal raisins, pizzelles, sugar cookies (I don't usually make these but Chicklet will help me with the cookie cutters I bought) and snowballs/Mexican wedding cakes/Russian tea cakes.
😆I think you're right!!!!!!!!!!! Darn it! Such a wasted opportunity!!!!!
Note to self: Don't eat tres leches cake for breakfast. You'll feel nasty and sugared out for hours after.
See!! Sugar for breakfast is bad.

I want to make this stuff so bad. It sounds delectable.

:cry: -> 😳

P.S. Has this rofflecopter smiley always been there?! :roflcopter:
As long as I can remember, yup.

i haven't been in here lately. cliffnotes?

A whole lotta nothing. MBbunchofnumbers got his first acceptance. I think that was the most monumental post of late. Right?

Who else wants to :slap: Protagonistic as you read each of his posts? And repeatedly?

Yesterday I graded a whole bunch of final exams. During that time course I watched the movie Outsourced and the entire TV show season (minus the one premiering in January).

I was very excited to see the animal I do research on - the exact animal - featured on the show in one episode. haha. Yes, I am a grad student nerd for loving that fact.

👍 Yes we are best friends.

There's a book I really want called the Boozy Baker which has all these different recipes that use various kinds of alcohol. Brilliant.

Why do bourbon balls take a week to make?? I let the rum balls sit for a few days to mellow but a week seems extreme. I'm intrigued.

!!!
I have this book!

Haven't made anything from it yet, though.

MB got into an amazing school and is going to marry me so he can be an American and I can be a Canadian.

I don't like pancakes, finished tutoring Chemistry for the year (will start tutoring Statistics next semester 😱), and am addicted to Rockband 3 thanks to Sun.

The Answers to your Stupid Questions thread is the most awesome thing ever.

Geeks made some amazing cupcakes

Duckie is going to Hawaii so we hate her

Daisy has a cool job where she doesn't have to do work

Duckie and Daisy together keep talking about balls and liquor and I am very confused

Rhino has been pretty MIA, I assume with horrible finals.

Flow finished his finals but has to be quiet so his brother can sleep before his finals

Juliedi got into med school!!

A bunch of new people keep coming in and saying hi and then nothing else.

I am leaving for my last interview tomorrow and my house is a freaking mess.

You're still awesome.

I think that about covers it.

mmmm, the Boozy Baker sounds like a good book. I think I've found a birthday present for my sister.

I've never made bourbon balls, but my family makes rum balls every year for Christmas. They're probably very similar, but they don't need to soak for very long. Oh and one of my favorite brownie recipes has copious amounts of Kahlua swirled in. Delicious!

Your avatar cracks me up every single day🙂 This love of pancakes only makes it funnier🙂

lol I didn't even remember I had the bunny with a pancake on its head until I drooled over the thought of pancakes.

I burnt my tongue on chai tea this morning, its driving me crazy. I've also successfully done nothing at work for the last 3 days and now I'm just killing time until the cookie christmas party starts at 2pm, yummm coookies!!

ugghhh statistics :barf:I minored in that, I've forgotten almost all of it,

Jobs where you don't have to work = amazing

I forgot to brag about my own cupcakes...wth is wrong with me?

Chicklet and I are getting haircuts on Saturday. My first one ages and her first one ever. Unintentionally, they are going to end up being very similar, I think.

I also forgot to add that 2014 officially considers us no threat since they had twice as many posts as we do this time last year.

Lame.

Why do I feel like everyone else is rushing me when I just wanna slow down and forget about school and applications? Anyone else get this vibe from people who know about what you're up to?
The main vibe I get is that people want to give me advice...when they have no f-ing clue what they're talking about.

Do you know how many people keep telling me that they know someone who went Caribbean and that I should totally do that? WTF? I have an MD acceptance!?

:meanie: It's not our fault y'all can't keep up.

quality > quantity

and although i dont post here often, when i lurk i see bunch of posts on food, and what better to talk about then food.

This :meanie: reminds me of this video

🤣

It does worry me a little that there is a site called "Freebabyclips.com" though

yea lol i was thinkin the same thing.
anyway gotta go study for my last exam on saturdayz

I'm actually getting a kinda opposite vibe....

😀
your swanky

edit: i hope the guy from the "your" thread pops in here 🙄

Haha yes! Thanks for the shout out. However, this thread is not to be taken seriously. It's one thing when people are trying to give serious advice and can't spell things correctly. In here though, anything goes and it doesn't get to me!

if you compare the ages of the threads we're only behind by a few thousand posts...

Lol yea im just playin around

Hahahaa....not quite🙂

I kind of want to get a tree. But I have nowhere to put it without rearranging furniture and I feel it is too late.

I just got home for the holidays and my parents decided they wanted a real tree for the first time in about... 20 years? Anyways I feel like my face is being assaulted by my allergies.

I guess I could def see that being the case for a lot of us. In my case, it's mostly cuz almost every day I get asked "any more news?" "have you decided on a med school yet?" "how are classes?" by the same people. =\

Yeah annoying indeed, and I don't know if I want to be in a rush already or take it slow...

I think I am in a REALLY bitchy mood right now. The last 4 or 5 posts I've made on Pre-Allo have been hella pissy.

just pick up an xbox controller, turn on the headset mic, and go to town.

Only one more hour until I'm off work! I need some entertainment!

Oh, and I am now officially graduated!

Hello guys,

I'd like some advice here, and since you have already been through/currently going through the admissions process I hope you can help me come to a decision.

I am a sophomore in college and am facing a sort of dilemma regarding research. I have two options:

1.) A paid job at an Alzheimer's Research Clinic. This would be part time and I would be starting in January. I would most likely work here for the long term (1.5+ years). This is a great opportunity because I would be responsible for seeing patients and administering basic neurological exams, the results of which are used for the research. The only disadvantage I can see is that it would be almost impossible to get my name on a publication because I would not directly be contributing intellectual value to the project (unless I have a random epiphany). I expect to work up to ten hours per week.

2.) A 10 week (40hr/week) paid summer internship at a prestigious research institution. This research would be more microbiology-related and there is a remote possibility for continuation with a small chance of getting my name on a publication.

I can only do one of these things, because the internship is full time (so I won't be able to work at the clinic), and if I try to work at the alzheimer's clinic for next semester and then do the internship over the summer, I probably won't be able to come back to work at the clinic after the summer. The way I see it this is a choice between a long term position versus prestige and the fact that I can handle a full time job. I think working at the clinic will be better for me, but I'm not entirely sure, so I thought I would post this. By the way, both positions are very fascinating and would be happy doing either. I just want some input as to what will look better for med school apps.

Thanks!

I love that xmas tree outfit. I bought my little dog some cute jackets but he gets really confused by them. If any of you used to watch "The Girls Next Door," my dog goes "dogatonic" and freezes/collapses when he wears clothes.

i would do number 2 and pick up something else during the school year.
but if you cant do something else during the year obviously doing something for 1.5+ yrs is more significant than just 10 weeks. if you want to go to a top tier school research will help A LOT.

If you honestly like both and can't make a decision...I would say go with your gut. Go with the place you think would be more enjoyable as a human.

Personally....after writing secondaries, I think that being at a place long term is what gives you a lot to write about. Also, I think that having a job is a huge plus because it shows you are a real person and know what it is like to deal with all of the stuff that comes with a "real job". I would go with #1 but that is just me🙂

Also....the relationships you build when you work with a group of people for over a year (versus 10 weeks) gives you a MUCH more real, genuine, and in depth letter of rec possibility.

I think doing something just for a publication is lame. If you're truly into research and pubs you have plenty of time for that later. It is not clear to me when weighing value that a publication is better than a ton of stuff to talk about in applications and longevity. I think it depends on the kind of school you want to go to. If you want to go to a research heavy school...yeah. If not....then no.

Is everyone done with finals now? Can we spice up the thread with an icebreaker question or something?

Does anyone want to write an obit for Trio, since apparently he's RIP?
