On an even more depressing note, UCLA "sent" out their final decision letter a few days ago...should arrive tomorrow..oh well, to be expected. Thankfully, I no longer have romantic "pressure" to stay here in California...at least for the time being.

Congrats, Cougs!

Also, I'm going to one-up previous posters and announce that I got both a haircut AND new glasses this week.

Haircut=was midway down my back, now is shoulder length. I told my stylist I wanted my hair to fall to just below my collarbone. Apparently his definition of collarbone was different than mine.

Glasses=horn rimmed kate spade frames. Total hipster. Also apparently I'm on the border between using regular lenses and needing special thick ones. My previous glasses have thick lenses, but the sales lady let me go with the regular ones this time! Anyone with thick lenses knows why this is exciting.
 
Geez, Raffle's "stupid question" thread needs to make an appearance to the front page again. Recently it seems there have been entirely too many threads started with the same questions that have been asked 10000 times.

What is driving me nuts is when someone asks a question in a thread, it gets answered, and then somehow they, or someone else, IN THE SAME THREAD ask the same damn question again. Or they don't understand the answer which is perfectly clear. Sometimes I wonder how people even got to college.

Also...why don't people buy an MSAR or read the AAMC rules? Would make their lives so much easier.
 
So funny story...

my cat managed to pull down my suit pants from the hanger in my closet, and then proceeded to nestle in them for what I can only assume has been the better part of two weeks.

Thank God I discovered this before having to wear this suit on Wednesday.

And speaking of beer (what else?), I just bought some Dogfish Head 90-minute IPA and SN Torpedo. I haven't tried the Torpedo yet, but Flow, you were right: 90 minute is delicious 😀

As far as piss beer goes, I prefer pbr (over bud, keystone, etc.) I like the hipster fad because a large portion is into music that I like.

I'm glad you like 90 minute! I had my first 60 yesterday. It was good, but I still prefer 90. Torpedo is a pretty intense IPA - about 60 IBU IIRC.
 
Anyone here brew their own beer? I've been planning on starting to do that from a little while. But I don't want to get one of those kits. I'd rather build the stuff myself from things I can get at home depot or something and start the brewing process from scratch.

Edit: Top! This is like the 3rd or 4th time I've gotten the top! Really excited heehee.

Yeah, don't get me wrong. I love good beer and crafts/microbrews/etc.. but PBR is a nice cheap piss beer (so are the trader joe can beers apparently!). And at this bar I wasn't about to pay $7/beer for Brooklyn, Sierra, etc... especially when PBR was $3.
 
Keystone Light was the way to go when massive drinking games were involved. It was like drinking beer-flavored water.

Microbreweries were saved for small get-togethers. I would never waste good beer during drinking games (although I have played beer pong with Heineken once, but I hate Heineken...and I have played shot pong with rum, which was definitely more expensive than playing with Keystone Light).

I do the same thing, amigo. PBR's all night except the rare $7 beer. Plus PBR is $.50/can at costco. Can't beat that for parties or like Kau just said, for drinking games.

You can do it with basic lab equipment for the most part. Some parts of the brewing process require slightly more specialized stuff, like the ability to create a vacuum above the beer to remove oxygen so that the yeast begins anaerobic growth.

i'm not hating. who said i don't rock the plaid (flannel for winter) and pbr.

luckily, i don't fit into any one genre. i'm eclectic.

I just wanted a nice peaceful 24 hours at home after the horrific week I've had.

But no. My neighbors SUCK. And since it is only 9pm I can't really complain yet🙁 When is it ok to complain? 1030?
 
depends on the complaint. i'd say 11 at the earliest, since it's the weekend.

My baseline is usually whenever the nighttime news comes on, so 11pm (10pm Central), but I'm weird like that.

Though, my lease agreement states that 9pm is when quiet time kicks in, so.

If you're their landlord, then I should think you have the right to complain any time.

Yeah. I hate being a jerk though🙁 I'll let it go until 1030 or so. Which really means 11...since I will likely give them a 30 min warning.
 
So what kind of suckage are we talking about? Hot and heavy between the sheets action, or MIND-BLOWING BASS?

That sucks! isn't there a legal noise curfew? Where police can get involved? I remember something like that from my undergrad days haha. and now I feel old.

Police for noise always seems weird to me. But then the area I'm from never enforced their's cause it's a big bar/club area.

NO! In fact....it sounded like they were playing Rockband 2 and not 3. Or possibly Band Hero.

Sheesh.

I purposely don't play the drums out of courtesy to them.


Ok, so the noise stopped a little before 10. I had some peace, went to sleep...THEN at ONE FREAKING THIRTY, they started up again.
So. F-ing. Pissed.
I texted and called them and then called them and they stopped and I went back to sleep. But....seriously....who thinks it is ok to START making noise at 1am?

Also....they HAVE had the cops called on them by neighbors. And the cops came to MY door because they didn't know where the noise was coming from, and woke ME up. I didn't hear the noise because my main issue with them is anything with bass or banging. They were just watching a movie SUPER loud (without the subwoofer....so I couldn't hear it) and had all of their windows open. Apparently TWO neighbors called the cops. It was, again, like midnight or one am....but on a Tuesday.

I don't know if the lease I had them sign had a curfew....I will check.

I'm mostly worried that if I have to rent this place out when I leave, the next person in here will not be so forgiving.
