Thanks! I was also about to say that a friend of mine checked into "Five guys" on Facebook, which made me realize I wanted "Five guys"..but I'm a vegetarian and not eating meat right now.

Has anyone had Five Guys before? I'm excited to have one in Brooklyn, but not necessarily sure I want to pay like 10 dollars for a burger. :-/

Yep! They started up ~10 miles from my hometown. I don't usually eat burgers, though, so I usually go for a grilled cheese sammich with grilled onions, and of course Cajun fries.

You can do passports by mail. Pretty painless.

So one of my friends told me about this "Lollpalooza" thing, and while I had heard of it I didn't know much about it (I'm not a hipster or concert-going type). I found out that I'll be in Chicago when it's going down. Is it worth checking out? $90/day or $215 for the weekend seems pretty steep.

Lolla isn't hipster. Pitchfork is. (Except, well, it can't be anymore, by definition.)

Well, it seems like quite a few people do research during med school (during the school year itself, not just summer). And I'm definitely planning on doing so right from M1! Not sure if I'd call it a "job" if we're not getting paid for it though.

I think 10-15 hours of what you're thinking of doing is completely doable. What kind of job were you thinking of?

I asked the question at all the schools I interviewed at, and everyone said it was definitely possible to hold down a few hours a week job during the 1st two years

Five Guys is good in light of the fact that it's not that expensive. $10 will get you two burgers and an MI; if it only got you one it would be far from worth it.

I've thought about it, but a bunch of people have told me no way Jose. So I think I won't worry about it right away, but if I find that I have enough time midway through the year I might look into lifeguarding or teaching private swim lessons somewhere. Pretty painless, easy money. But we'll see.

I *may* have just gotten some big news... but unfortunately the school in question's admissions office closed about 5 minutes before I checked my online status. Stay tuned until Monday when it's official. Just my luck 😳

I've never had Five Guys before. As a native Californian my heart belongs to In-N-Out... although I consider myself an equal-opportunity hamburger lover, so I'd be open to other options 🙂
