Class of 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Posting from my fancy new ipad! 😎😎😎😎

I was pretty much the only person in class with no computer/ipad/technology so I think it was time to get with it.

why can't anatomy use normal words

like nub or bump instead of tubercle and whatnot 🙄

My guesses:

1. Because stuff sounds cooler in Latin.

2. Using Latin terminology makes patients think that you actually know what you're doing. Otherwise:

Patient: "Hey doc, what's wrong with me?"
Doc: "You see, you have this splotchy thing on your right nub right next to the giant front bump. I went to 4 years of Med school to learn all that"

Word.

And God forbid you confuse a tubercle and a tuberosity... even though they're essentially the same thing.
Word again.

I'm about to just give up on the brachial plexus 🙁👎
YWIA. I committed this drawing to memory and it helped me SO much.

We had our anatomy midterm yesterday. We got our written score back and the answer key for the practical and I was pleasantly surprised. Though I've learned I can get almost no studying done at home. I have been staying on campus until it's time to pick up Chicklet and head home.

Brachial plexus is nothing compared to the forearm+hand 🙁 Who the hell designed these dermatomes!

I hope I don't forget this stuff next year...

For better or worse we do that near the end. We're doing the abdomen now and the pelvis (which I hear is absolutely terrible) next.

This medical school thing is sounding like a terrible idea.

I'm so happy we don't have solid blocks of anatomy like it sounds like most of you do. We get sprinklings of anatomy here and there. For our Unit 1 test that we have on 9/8, I think our only anatomy lectures were on neck/throat and basic CNS anatomy. That way, if you get tired of studying anatomy, you can always move on to something else, like immunology. We've had a boatload of immunology this unit... Haha. (Not sure if studying immunology is better or worse...)

same. I freaking love having a relatively small amount of anatomy per week

Sure, I may not have aced my lecture exam, though I did very well on the practical, but am I the only one here the actually likes having this huge chunk of anatomy and grinding through it?

Maybe if it was scattered about in a nice organized systems curriculum, it would be fine, but since we're traditional here, it would be miserable if it was spread out. Just getting it all done these first few months is kind of nice. Histology goes along with it logically, however the two aren't synced up (shame they should be). However, our clinical class is synced with anatomy so the parts of the physical exam we're practicing matches up with what anatomy we're doing that week. So, it's not all that bad.

hay guise.

You know what kind of sucks about being in medical school (or being an adult in general)?

No dying your hair funny colors and being all alternative and whatnot. I'm feeling the need to stick it to the man, man. (Quarter life crisis?)

HOLY CRAP!!! FIRST DAY OF MED SCHOOL AND I FEEL LIKE I'M BEHIND ALREADY. 😱

Wow, haven't been here in a long time. I feel like I'm always studying, but always behind. Been doing well on exams...I just don't understand how some people in my class are so laid back and go out on the weekends. Ever since school started I've been having nightmares of failing out of med school, le sigh

I guess I can finally change my status to "medical student" now. Orientation was fun. We had doctors come in to talk about their journey and an introduction to the curriculum and a BBQ afterwards. There's a disproportionate number of pretty girls in my school. Not that I'm complaining. 😀

Yeah lol. My school is at least 10% Dr. Barbie's, as I call them. They all know their stuff, though

we all had to sign a photo release waiver so the school could take pictures of us while doing activities or taking classes. And let's just say that certain members of the class are featured in the pics/newspaper interviews/tv interviews far more often than others :meanie:

that's cuz they sexy.

suncrusher... how's school??

I'm gearing up for my premiere interviewwwww

how are you awake at this hour?

My excuse is that I'm almost done memorizing the brachial plexus nerves and vasculature before my quiz at 8am 😎

My excuse is that I have an interview at 8am... and in about 30 minutes I am gonna shower.

But I've been up since 4am... cuz apparently I only need 5 hours of sleep?
